Once upon a time in a world long forgotten, an ancient evil had been risen by the dark mage, Vati. But Vati could not control the great evil force, and he succumbed to it. He cast a spell to raise an army of living dead to accomplish complete genocide, and only one unlikely hero could stand a chance against this threat. And that is where our story starts. His name was Yeerlin and he was the king of Darkhelm, a city devoted to the evil gods of chaos and destruction. He was a strong and fair skinned man who had red hair. He was 23 years old and he ruled his kingdom wisely. He wore a black and gold helm in the shape of a dragon's head, and a black and gold cloak over armour made of one of the strongest metals known to man, chlorophyte, also black and gold. This day he was out surveying his city when one of his royal guards told him of the rumor of a great beast in the nearby forest. He told his guard, "show me this so called 'beast,'" and he grabbed his sword and went into the forest with his guard to slay the great beast. It wasn't long until the guard was lost and the brave Yeerlin was alone in the forest. He wandered for what felt like days until he found a clearing in the woods. "This is strange,"", hHe thought. "I have never heard of or seen a clearing like this in such a large forest." The clearing was beautiful. Branches still hung over the clearing, but the sun was still allowed to shine through on the green grass. It was strangely silent there, the birds had stopped singing and even the leaves stopped rustling. Yeerlin walked farther into the clearing, with his hand on the hilt of his sword. But the clearing was empty except for a sword made completely of a strange, holy metal that looked like pure gold but had strange evil-banishing abilities. The sword also had a cross-guard shaped like wings and was jabbed deep into a pedestal. He walked up to the sword and prepared to take it from the pedestal. He grabbed the hilt and pulled with all of his might. When the sword came out, Yeerlin was suddenly flooded with a flurry of images of battling unholy creatures and traveling away from his homeland. When the images finally stopped, he was mentally exhausted and attempted to understand what had just happened, when he realized a blue crystal had appeared on the rain guard of the sword. After contemplating for a while, he realized he had heard a name in the flurry of images: Shadowhunter. He immediately decided that this was the name of the sword. Suddenly, he heard a huge crash from nearby and he saw some trees fall nearby. More trees were falling and whatever was doing this was getting closer. Then suddenly a huge beast burst through the trees and revealed a huge skeletal dragon with not one piece of flesh on his white bones. The dragon also had glowing red eyes. He shook his huge skeletal wings and roared at Yeerlin. Yeerlin readied his steel sword but he was knocked flying from a swing by the huge beast's claw and broke his sword. He barely survived the great hit, but he did not flee. He charged and picked up the holy sword and cut off the great dragon's left leg. The beast screeched and fell to the ground. Yeerlin walked up to it and finished it by cutting its head clean from the rest of its bones.
"So you are the one they call 'Yeerlin.'" Yeerlin did indeed hear this in his thoughts, but this was not Yeerlin thinking. "You were the one who took me from that pedestal. I thank you. It was quite boring sitting there for so long". Said an unknown voice in his head.
"Who is this? Am I going mad?" Yeerlin thought.
"I am the sword you took from the pedestal and used to slay the dragon."
"Can you hear everything I think?"
"Yes."
"I must go back and tell my people!"
"No. your city is burning. It was demolished by more of the monsters you fought here, but they aren't all dragons and they aren't as easy to kill. It would be a waste of time returning to your city."
"What shall I do!" Yeerlin said aloud. "You must be deceiving me! "I am not." responded Shadowhunter "You must face the fact that you are the last hope of your world. You must be prepared to leave things behind and risk your life to save the rest of your kind." And the sword told about Vati and his minions.
Yeerlin decided to take on the quest, but said he was lost in this forest.
"Do not worry. I know this forest like the back of my hand. Or um… hilt."
So they set off, and they went through swamps and deserts, mountains and volcanoes, forests and oceans, and even the sky, slaying the mage's beasts along the way until they finally reached his tower at the edge of the world. "Here we are". The sword said to Yeerlin. "We have reached his tower." The place was insane. Nothing could be seen from beyond the infinite, swirling void of nothing behind the tower. They entered the tower, slaying the strongest of the mage's monsters, but little blood was spilled. Yeerlin opened the huge, rotting, wooden gate and entered a room full of the smell of rotting flesh. The walls of this room were covered with moss and indecipherable markings on the stones. At the end of the room sat a well dressed man with a white beard wearing robes of red and gold sitting on a black throne with a human skull on the back. "Come" said the old man. "Come and tell me the reason for your trespassing."
"I am Yeerlin of Darkhelm. Your minions burned my city to the ground, and I am here to slay you and all those who stand in my way!" Yeerlin said aggressively. "Have it your way!" and the wizard flew up into the air and hurled a huge orb of fire at our hero. He was hit directly and severely burned. "Augh!" He screamed. He charged, but the wizard summoned a very oddly shaped black sword with a human skull on the rain guard and parried his attack. "Hello brother" Yeerlin heard in his head. "It's been a long time since our metal has clashed." Yeerlin could not hear the whole conversation, but could hear whenever Shadowhunter responded to the other sword.
Whenever Yeerlin attempted to swing, Vati would always dodge out of his way. After a while, blood was spilling out of Yeerlin but he had not touched the sorcerer. "Ha ha ha ha!" taunted the mage. "Is that all you can muster, great hero?" and with the next swing Yeerlin was face down on the floor. His vision was getting darker and darker until a sudden flash of light came from his sword. Yeerlin floated upward and the tower cracked and crumbled to the ground. All that was left standing(Or in this case, flying) was Yeerlin and Vati. Yeerlin was now dressed in white and gold instead of black and gold. "Now you will face my wrath!" said Yeerlin. He charged at the sorcerer and their swords clashed, but Yeerlin followed quickly with a full swing and severely wounded Vati. Now the fight was on. There swords clashed relentlessly for some time until Yeerlin flew up high into the sky and came crashing down, stabbing Shadowhunter into Vati's chest. Vati screeched and vanished into a small cloud of ash. So, the world was finally at peace and people were allowed to prosper. Even Darkhelm has rebuilt, except it was renamed Brighthelm. Yeerlin passed down into legend and everyone truly lived happily ever after.
