Things Fall Apart - Part2

She was burning with anger and didn't bother hiding it anymore. All her life she was always so obedient whenever it came to her father.

She was always respectful and took his harshest punishments without complaint. But today was the last day she was going to be in an uncomfortable situation without spilling her mind first. 'There is no way I'm getting married to some guy! I'll just run away again. I'll just become a runaway bride. Like, mom! But I just won't make the same mistake she made' Rose thought to herself.

She got to the entrance of her room and was surprised. "Abner? What are you doing here?"

Abner was one of the background guards at the palace in terms of strength and looks. He wasn't as built as the others but, his strongest muscle was his brain. He had good wits and was a very wise young man. He was around Nathaniel's age but he was nothing like him. Abner was about the same height as Rose and he had a long face with chestnut brown hair and his hair was cut neatly in a low fade and he had amber eyes.

"Hello, Princess Rose. The King has ordered that I should become your guard to properly ensure your safety" he said

"So does that mean that you have to follow me everywhere?"

"Yes"

"Typical"

She pushed Abner out of her way and barged into her room. She threw herself onto her bed and cried for hours. The wall she put up to hold back all the emotions she had been suppressing had finally crumbled.

She lied to herself that she could get through this. She told herself that all she needed to do was to act tough and put up a nonchalant attitude towards her dad and his troubles and that maybe then, he'd leave her alone. But, it was all just a big fat lie.

Instead, her plan backfired in a thousand folds and all she can do is to watch her world crumble as it was being set ablaze.

She clenched her bedsheets by those thoughts and the tears started to flow with speed. She felt helpless. She didn't feel in control of herself nor her life anymore.

She bit her lips for crying was like a painful process for her. She thought crying was for the weak. The helpless. But, there she was feeling helpless herself.

She couldn't help but wonder what type of man her father would bring for her to marry. She surfed through the different genres of husbands.

The cheating husbands, the non-caring husbands, the lying husbands, the drunkard husbands, all I want is the power you have husbands. But the ones she hated the most were the cheating husbands and the domestic violence husbands.

There was only a one percent chance the guy her father would pick wouldn't be one of those kinds of husbands. At least, that's what she thought.

She cried for hours and hours rolling on her bed. Sometimes, she fell off her bed but, she would get up and the tears would start flowing even stronger. Both from the pain of falling and the pain she was feeling in her heart.

When she cried to her heart's content, she decided to go look for Mira in the maids' quarter. When she stood up, her eyes were red and swollen and her head was aching the heck out of her. She decided not to take some aspirin as she thought the headache would go on its own.

She opened the door and Abner was still there.

"Princess Rose, are you alright?" he said with a worried look on his face. "You don't look like your well"

'I guess the pain my dad is causing me is already telling on me' she thought to herself.

"I'm fine don't worry about it. Have you by chance seen Mira today?" she asked.

"The last time I saw her, she was in the maids' quarters"

"I see. I'll be heading there now."

"I'll follow you then"

All she could do was sigh with a disappointed look on her face. She knew arguing with him would get her nowhere. 'You brought this upon yourself' she said in her head as she imitated her father's voice.
