Mana was a magical gift that allows many, like Arthur and me, to possess incredible potential. It does not only increase your strength but also your endurance. There were many different methods to utilizing one's Mana. Those who knew how to use it were only Arthur and me. One method of how to make use of Mana was Sword Aura.
When we have a grip on our sword, we hold it part of our body, a part of our arm. The first war Arthur and I had engaged ended as our Nation's lost. During the war, he and I experienced many traumatizing scenes that we weren't able to endure.
The deaths of our allies and the screams of innocent lives, it was too much for two adolescences to face. We came home, heartbroken and terrified. Although it felt as if we were never going to do it again, Arthur stood back up only to understand what he lacked.
He told me, "We wouldn't have to face such loss if we were only stronger." with his face filled with snot and tears. Although he was pained to experience all those things, he had to accept that he was lucky to survive and train more before the next war.
I saw him as an inspiration and got back from where I sat. It didn't feel great to hear innocent lives scream. Nor was it pleasurable to listen to their pleas. It was the opposite. But I had to endure it. It was for our Nation's success and safety for our citizens.
I stood amidst Arthur, inspired. And since that day, every time I wielded a sword, it felt as if the sword became one with my body, a part of my arm. It was the best feeling for a swordsman. It wasn't only me who had such enlightenment, but also Arthur.
After practicing for many months, I felt empty. It was like I lacked something while training my sword. Then I thought, my Mana was flowing all over my body. Each step made me feel rejuvenated. Each breath I took felt nice. But still, something was amiss.
My arms start to feel tired, and I seldom feel pain in my wrists as if I did something wrong with my swings. It was like that for a month when I realized. Unlike my whole body, my sword lacked Mana. Although it was an absurd idea, I thought of making my Mana flow around my weapon.
I tried numerous times but always ended as a failure. Nevertheless, I didn't want to give up. Day by day, I practiced, find ways, experiment, and swing. Until finally, I was able to produce results. My Mana circuits widened to the tip of my nails, allowing Mana users like me to expand our Mana flow to even objects we have in our hands.
I was able to create an aura, a blue aura, around my body and my sword. That moment, enlightenment was gifted to me another time. Refreshed and reborn. I was a new person who had finally realized I had a talent. It was the talent of Mana Discovery.
After finally getting the right touch of my sword training, I finally succeeded in maintaining the striking blue aura around my sword and thought of an intriguing name for it. I called it Sword Aura. It was my first ever discovery after countless efforts.
Each swing I took would produce a strong gale that would move trees or even objects like benches and swords. My movement felt much lighter and more swift. Each swing I did felt heavy and accurate. I could wield a long sword and not feel any heaviness.
Then as my concealed training goes on, I could move objects that weren't even in touch with my skin. With my Mana, I could emit it and make it travel in the atmosphere and connect to a target I see. As soon as it surrounds my target, I can move it effortlessly. I called this Mana Technique, Telekinesis. I never thought the magic powers from the books I read would come to life.
After a few months, I've grown to use Telekinesis and Sword Aura like it was breathing. But every time I was with Arthur, I would limit my power and not use my Mana. Even without Mana, I was stronger than Arthur, and I thought maybe it was because of the Enlightenment gift I possessed.
It was then when I wanted to explore more about the secrets of Mana. I picked up a rabbit and tried to use my Mana to move it as I command, but from my fifty tries, I failed. I wrote it down that objects are easier to move and mold with Mana than living organisms. After finally getting the three-hundred and forty-six try, I was able to stop a rabbit.
I felt so happy when I achieved my goal. Then after a few months, I was able to make the rabbit float and not move. I observed that moving living organisms with Mana wouldn't stop their breathing or their organs. Until one day, I was mad by a fight with Arthur. I placed my anger by using Telekinesis on the rabbit. I was so angry that I didn't realize I crushed the rabbit and turned its body into a circle.
I was traumatized by the sound of its bone-crushing and blood that covered its white fur. It was the first time I accidentally killed an animal with the use of Mana. I cried the whole day. I swore that I wouldn't do anything like that ever again.
I buried the rabbit and continued with my training, but dull. My eyes were blank, and my mind was black. My daily movements were as if I was a machine. I didn't think every time I was training. It went like this for a month when Arthur stopped me in my usual place by blocking my way and slung his punch on my face.
I was brought back to reality, and when I came back. I saw my best friend crying in front of me. It made me cry too. That night, I told him what I did to the rabbit and how much I was traumatized by it. And how I was sorry for being mad at him during those times. He helped heal my mentality, and a week later, I was back on my feet, happy.
My Sword Aura allowed my sword to sharpen and be strong enough to cut through three trees. It was astounding, but I had to make an excuse every time I cut a tree down. My Telekinesis was far more proficient than before. I uproot trees trice as big as I was and far heavier than me. It was exhilarating. But I itched about wanting to tell Arthur how much I've progressed but, at the same time, hesitated.
One day, I was able to look at rabbits and even hold them. I was finally free from my trauma. I wanted to try moving living organisms, but this time, with care. And for a few months of training with different animals, I was able to master my Telekinesis. I was able to move animals joint by joint.
I would always be careful when handling friendly animals. But every hunting season, I would not hesitate to harm animals with my Telekinesis. I could break the legs of wolves, harm a bear internally, and disable an aggressive deer. I wanted to discover more Mana techniques when another preparation of war happened.
Arthur and I were once again trembling in fear. We got over our fear when the neighboring kingdom attacked our Village and killed innocent villagers, including one colleague with whom I was very close. That woke a beast inside me. Unlike the usual secretive me, I showed my power towards my master, colleagues, and Arthur. I killed a man by breaking his legs with my Telekinesis.
It was far harder than animals. Humans had Mana, so they could resist far more than animals could. But I, who worked every day, was able to handle breaking the bones of five soldiers. Of course, by doing so, I exhausted myself and could not use my Telekinesis.
I relied on my swordsmanship and revealed to all my companions my Sword Aura. Everyone was appalled, even the enemies stop to feel alarmed, and each counter swing would break the enemy's swords as well as tear their body into two. Just a few hours, I, alone, was annihilating the soldiers from the neighboring kingdom. In the end, I killed four hundred and fifty-eight brutal soldiers without any remorse.
After that day, the current Emperor gave me a chance to get the noble title I desire. And I chose to become a Duke. I was blessed with the name of FitzChivalry and was the founder of a new Duke lineage. The Emperor gave me lands to handle and a castle of my own. In exchange, I should participate in the war. I agreed. The war did not last long, and it was our flawless victory. I killed over six thousand men and destroyed the will of the neighboring kingdom at the age of fifteen.
I returned to the Palace and finally getting a certificate of my Nobility. The Emperor asked if I had any more desires. I told the Emperor that I was still a youth and would need people to handle my lands until I reached adulthood. I asked for six more years to stay in my hometown village- which is now part of my duchy -and asked to conceal my identity. The Emperor agreed to my wishes.
But after I returned from the war and Imperial Palace, everyone in the Village looked at me indifferently. They looked scared but respectful at the same time. Then rumors started talking about how I was a demon. And my master now treats me as a colleague. I felt more distance towards my other colleagues, but Arthur remained by my side.
My martial arts wasn't improving, and my movements were barbaric. I had no one to ask for help except for Arthur, who shared his master's teachings. Then I thought of lending Arthur a helping hand with what I know. I tried to teach him the Sword Aura, but he kept failing. He failed harder than me.
But I realized before getting second enlightenment. My first enlightenment was together with Arthur. I knew that we both had our Sword Enlightenment, and I was sure, with efforts and hard work, Arthur could do the Sword Aura too. So after three years of teaching him, I was eighteen, and so was he. Arthur was finally able to do sword aura.
He then declared to everyone that if I was a demon, he, too, was one. At that time, too, Arthur revealed to me that he was a Prince all along. And that he received more training than any of us and learned literature. I understood his reasons and forgave him for hiding his identity.
He told me that at the age of 21, adulthood, he would be the Crowned Prince. He asked if I could be his right hand, and I agreed. Then I met another Master who was willing to look at my flaws and teach me as if I was a child. He was my first father figure. He taught me values, virtues, morals, principles, and martial arts, also other things. He taught me how to love books and be responsible until he died.
Arthur and I were left alone, and that was the start of his ruling and me being his right-hand man whenever the Empire needed help. We were unstoppable. With both of our talents with Mana, we expanded our influence in the east, south, and north. Everyone recognized me. We both were equals in terms of strength, but that was because I hid my true potential. Then he, Arthur, betrayed me.
End.
