Eugene sat in the corner of the training grounds, watching Lawrence sweat off, swinging his swords. Lawrence understood what Chas meant before when he told him that he couldn't imitate the martial arts of the fourth history. That's because Lawrence grew in terms of a sword, bare fist, and martial arts by experiencing them head-on, well, when he was FitzChivalry.
No martial arts book guide in his previous life could enlighten you the moment you read it. There was no magic book that allows an individual to power up after reading through it. Julius raw power and excellent swordsmanship came from his experience in fighting swordmasters, assassins, and bow masters. He can counter them in his way, as FitzChivalry. But never could he even imitate 10% of his full potential as FitzChivalry when he's in his new body.
Not only that, but Lawrence stays cautious when it comes to his daily training and routine. Even in death or life situations, he never tries to reveal his swordsmanship from his previous life, even if just a fraction of it. Not only can he not imitate his previous swordsmanship to its best due to his inexperienced body, but he also cannot duplicate it due to lack of "Mana." And by duplicate, I mean, "An exact copy."
And so, since Lawrence cannot use his previous life swordsmanship, he's been training with the other knights and learning their ways of sword fighting. The unique difference between his former life's training is that the "chivalry knights" of Mysse primarily focus on Martial Arts to strengthen their vigour and master their swords. That's because the way of swordship requires tenacity and skill. As Chilvaric Knights, their ways of training their swordsmanship is more complex than most ordinary men train.
Since Chivalry Knights are composed of many "inheritors," they train to fuse their abilities along with their sword. A fire inheritor needs to combine his flame ability with his swordsmanship. But to do so requires effort, skill, and tenacity. Take a fire magic swordsman as an example. They merge their fire ability and blend it with their blades. But to not melt the sword, you have to make the sword a part of your body.
"Eugene." Lawrence wiped his sweat on his forehead with the back of his forearm, calling Eugene, who sat on the corner of the training grounds. "Join me."
"Oh, your highness. But I'm supposed to guard the Fourth History." Eugene replied.
"You can leave it there." Lawrence placed both of his hands on his hip. "I need a sparring partner."
Eugene looked at the Fourth History and placed them on the bench. "Okay, your highness." Eugene bent down to pick up a wooden sword and smiled as he brushes the tip of his finger on the wood blade. He dashed forward, not giving Lawrence time to defend himself. He prepared a slash but was countered by Lawrence's wood sword.
"Feisty," Lawrence smirked. "When was the last time we had a spar?"
Eugene backed off. He stared at his blade, from the grip to the tip of his sword, "A week ago, your highness." he glanced at Lawrence and smirked. He started charging once again, only this time, pushing Lawrence back.
"What a monster." Lawrence grinned, battling his blade against Eugene's sword. Just like before, the difference in power that Eugene has and Lawrence don't. Lawrence used some strength to slightly push Eugene away before turning to redirect his blade onto Eugene's neck.
Eugene clashed his sword at the right side of his face a second before it would hit him. "Your highness!" Eugene excitingly called. "You never hesitate, do you? You're so ready to drop my head off. It's exhilarating!" Eugene's excitement draws out his power, pushing Lawrence's blade away from his neck.
Lawrence was pushed back by Eugene's power, making him lose balance. As Eugene dashed towards Lawrence, Lawrence immediately reclaims his stature. With wise discretion, he predicted where Eugene aimed and stopped it once again. Although he was being pushed by Eugene's raw power, Lawrence made up with his agility. He shoved Eugene slightly like before and backed off, only this time, preparing to launch multiple attacks that will overwhelm Eugene.
From the top left to down right and top right to down left. Lawrence swung and swung his sword, pushing Eugene a few steps and finally making him lose balance and falling onto the ground, groaning. Lawrence stood high, his sword aimed at Eugene's neck.
"What a monster." Eugene frowned.
Lawrence retreated his sword and handed out his hand, "Someday, I'll overpower you and make you serious into fighting me."
"I am serious. It's just that you're too good, Elijah." Eugene took his hand and stood up.
"Eugene Ezra Paxton. Sixteen. Chosen to be one of the Twelve Escort for the Eight Replica of the Histories. At the age of seven was recognised as a prodigy and became a high knight graduate of one of the Hesperia Academies. He led much subjugation until Emperor Sage noticed him and granted him the privilege to live a luxurious life in return, needing to guard the Fourth History for five years. Won many tournaments against swordmasters and master knights. But for some reason, he cannot defeat a boy who hasn't even experienced a war." Lawrence sat down on the bench, continuing his remark. "Really, shame on you." he grinned.
"No comment." Eugene sat down with Lawrence, showing both his arms in defeat.
"Freak." Lawrence laughed.
"What an excellent fight." someone beneath the columns of the palace called. He clapped his hands, catching the attention of Eugene and Lawrence.
"Chas?" Eugene looked shocked and excited.
"Ah, dear young cousin. We meet again, trouble maker."
