True Betrayal

"Ma'am, Ivo has returned..." One of Frig's retainers spoke up upon entering the throne room.

"Good, I have a mission for him," Frig spoke as a member of her intelligence service entered the room. "what is it?"

"Ma'am, we managed to intercept a psychomancy based message, it said: 'It's time'. While we are unable to figure out who it could be for-"

*Boom*

The officer was cut off as Frig's body was sent flying by purple flame detonating right next to her throne.

An electric blue flash zipped past the officer in the direction of Denac's cell.

(Denac's cell)

Denac was sitting on his bed, as he had done for the past 6 days, his golden eyes focusing on a single point in the centre of the wall. His purple locks are tied in a short ponytail. He could hear the sound of electricity approaching his cell before it became filled with a purplish gold powder.

"Get away from the door," A gruff voice stated from beyond the door "it's time for some fireworks."

*BANG*

The door to his cell blasted inwards.

"Come with me if you want to get away from the bastards that locked you up all this time."

"Who are you?"

"Look kid, we don't have time for this, either you come with me willingly, or I take you by force"

**Denac, you should go with him...** The dragon's voice spoke in his head **He has the crest of the one that holds me**

"*sigh* fine, I'm coming I suppose...but how are you going to get past all the guards?"

"What guards?...oh, you mean those Dukes *scoff* did you really think I'd be taken out by such...weaklings,"

"huh?"

After about 15 minutes of travelling through the bloodstained passages of the castle, they eventually reached the southeastern wall that was swiftly blasted by Denac's new...companion.

"As soon as you get out of here just head due southeast and a squad will be there to pick you up...I have some more business here." The strange Oni commanded before taking off towards the residential area of the castle.

Denac ran as quickly as he could, as soon as he reached the treeline four baron rank Oni appeared in a defensive formation around him.

"You must be Denac," the presumed leader of this band asked him "In any case come with us"

"Shouldn't we wait for Straiz?" One of the other members asked.

"He said he had some other business and for us to go on without him...he'll catch up to us in no time anyway."

They began heading southeast until after about 2km they came upon a large campfire surrounded by 5 large iguanas.

"What are those?" Denac questioned.

"Our way home one," one of them answered, "hop-on, it's like riding a horse...except stronger and faster."

After a week of uneventful travelling, Denac and the four Oni finally managed to reach the town of Fulgra - the capital of the Scorned Dessert, the land of the Oni ruled over by Ignis.

This was no small feat. The distance between the capital of the frostwalker's territory and the capital of the Oni's territory was a little over 21000km. This meant that they travelled 3000km per day. The top speed of Scorn Iguanas is 450km/h, so while they weren't running at the maximum speed possible, they were exorbitantly quick.

As they got closer to the gate, they could see two figures standing there, waiting for them. An Oni and...a Frostwalker. Denac recognised the frostwalker instantly as Ivo - his mentor. And while the Oni appeared severely wounded, they didn't appear to have any enmity towards each other.

"What happened to Straiz?" One of the Oni - Zabru - asked, shock lingering on his tone.

"Probably did something stupid like fight Frig...but that's the captain for you." Another of the Oni - Kiaru - answered.

"True, but why is a Frostwalker with him?" Zabru pondered.

"Probably what his other mission entailed, although I think he should go to the infirmary."

As they approached Straiz called out to them "Yo, you guys finally made it...man was that fun, who knew rulers could be so strong..."

"Oi, Zabru that'll be 500 gold pieces...looks like I won the bet. Now then, what the hell happened to you Staiz?" Kiaru called out.

"First off, we're here now so be proper, and secondly, this...person refused to come with us until his boss decided to target him in order to hit me...and, well, you can see how that went...*cough*," Straiz gestured towards his body, or more accurately the lack thereof. "Now then, Denac, I heard that you're a knight as of right now...your best course of action would be to enroll at the academy later this year, as a matter of fact, my son is enrolling as well, so don't feel too bad if you lose to him."

"First things first...I think we should head to the keep, report everything to your king"
