Two new faces on the team.

As I stand there staring at my mother, the nerves build up and my palms have gotten sweaty. She found out, only because I was reckless. If I had just change out of my super suit I wouldn't be in this situation right now. What am I going to tell the team, Apinya already know. She had a right anyway, she was almost killed. But mom found out because of my recklessness.

"I am waiting for you to tell me." She tap her right foot impatiently. "You said that you would start from the beginning, but here you still are not saying anything."

She is right, I need to start confessing up. I take a deep breath then realise it. "Mom, come sit on my bed with me." I went over to my bed and sat down, mom doing the same. "It all started when we had that family dinner at grandma's house, you know, after I fainted. When I regain consciousness I could hear grandma's thoughts, I was really freaked out and I practically run from the room and I bump into one of my cousin and I also heard his thoughts as well. I got downstairs and you know what happened after that, everywhere I turn I could hear what people were saying in their minds. When I got back into the city, I accidentally bumped into a guy. He held on to my hand and I could hear what he wanted to do to me, so I pulled away and started running and he started to chase me with some of his friends. They cornered me in an alley and I was sure that I was a goner, but my new special ability came in handy with my martial arts and combat fighting skills. I listen to their thoughts and then took them down. I-"

"So wait, wasn't anyone on the street to help you? Did you call the police?" Mom ask, her eyes looks lost.

"It had just realise that I had run into a bad part of the city, so no one was out at that time of night. And yes I called the police before I hightailed out of there." Mom nods her head then told me to continue. Which I did, from hiding away and then telling Robyn after she came over to check up on me. I told her about my experience fighting alone with just Robyn in my ears trying to guide me. I told her about Dai founding me and telling me that he is my brother and that my father is still alive, that part got her to shrink back and guilt take over her expression. I told her about Dai telling me about his power and then he joined my two person team.

"So Dai brought me to meet my dad, and I was shocked when I found out that he was my role model D.H. You should have seen my face when I realise that my dad was my biggest role model, and I didn't know it." I turn to look at her, and sure enough she look hurt. "Mom, are you ok?" I ask her.

"Your dad is your biggest role model, and you didn't even know it." She laugh bitterly at the end. "Yea, but who was there all your life when he was gone, me. I feed you and clothes you and-"

"Never take my side in anything." I interrupt her little rant. "Yes you clothes me and take care of me alone for seventeen years, but who's fault was that? Yours. D.H had inspired me to follow my dreams about being a graphics designer, he was my go to person when I was always feeling down, just looking at his art I always feel better. Calm and content, I don't know why but it always had. Anyway, I am not here to talk about your problem with dad." I stop talking and breathe for a bit, before talking again. "Dai and I have figured out that dad might have known something about us having powers, so on the day Dai took me to meet him. I started asking him some questions, he got upset and told me to leave his house. I did what he requested and didn't see him again until the dinner we had that dinner here. Dai and Robyn decided that they wanted to come out in the field with me and fight, I turn down their request some many times thinking that they will be safer if they stay out of sight. I then realise that some things I just can't do on my own, and yet again, my super team was form."

"So wait a minute, Dai is Soul Searcher and Onna is Robyn?" Mom ask.

"Yep."

"Your prissy princess bestie Robyn is Onna, the vigilante hero that fights with a katana?" Mom ask again just to clarify.

"Yep with a big pile of the truth." Her mouth forms an o and the tells me to continue. "Yea, they became their own heroes and things had been going smoothly, but you know that a superhero can't win all the time. We have our ups and down, Dai got kiddnapped-"

"W-wait, did i just hear you right. Did you say that Dai got kidnap, when did this happened?"

"Ok, so dad finally fess up and told me how I got my abilities. It is a trait I got from him. If you had let him explain that night after he came back, you would have known." I told her all that dad have told me, and also about the League and what they are doing now.

"No, no. I am so proud of you for becoming the hero that you are. But what you are telling me about this League, they are dangerous and I can't let anything happen to you. You are my baby girl and I can't let anything or anyone hurt you." Tears started to run down her cheeks.

"So, what are you saying?"

"I am saying that you should give up this hero life, you should focus on your major and about moving forward in life. You even have a boyfriend, and I can see that he loves you alot. So please honey," She hold my hands in hers, her eyes pleading. "Throw in your cape." I pull my hands out of hers and got up off the bed, and then look at her with fury in my eyes. I can't believe she is even suggesting that, ha, what am I saying. She is not suggesting, she is telling me.

"How dare you, you can't just dictate what I do with my life. I am adult, I have been on my own since i was eighteen. I am independent if you haven't notice that I don't come crying to you if I am in need of anything. So you can't just sit there and tell me what I can't or can do, I made an oath that I will protect those I love and this city if it is the last thing I do. And further more, I am apart of the problem. You don't get that mom, if I don't stop the League, they will come after everything and everyone I love until the find me. They will burn down this city just to get their hands on me, dad and Dai." I vent, my breath hitch as angry and frustrated tears falls from my eyes. "They won't stop until..." I started to cry and the words got stuck in my mouth.

Through the blurriness of my tears I see my mom get up off of my bed and came closer to me, she wrap me in her arms in a tight comforting hug. She started to rub my back and hum a soothing tune in my ear.

"It is ok honey, I understand and I am so so sorry." My cries turn into little sobs and sniffles as I try to calm myself down. "I told you once that I will do anything to protect you, and I still meant what I said. I know that you always felt like I didn't love you, that I love your sister and brother more. But that is not true, I love all three of you equally. And I would go through the end of the earth and back to make sure that the three of you are safe in this world. I want to tell you that I am sorry that I made you feel unwanted and unloved, I am sorry that I never saw that I was pushing you away from me. Miayana I am sorry for all the wrongs and heartache that I have caused you in your life, and I hope that you have it in your heart to forgive me. I am your mother and I only thought that I was doing what was best." My crying tears of her own, her hold around me got tight. And I smile through the tears.

"It is ok mom, and I have forgiven you a long time ago." I pull away from her and we both wipe our eyes.

"Look at us crying like we are some silly girls from a eighty' s movie." I laugh at what my mother said, then the room engulf in silence.

"Honey, I will do anything to help you take down the League. So you can call on me anytime." Mom said breaking the silence.

"I know you will mom." I smile at her.

"So, am I apart of the team now. Do i have to take an oath, ohh, do I get a secret identity name?" Mom gush happily.

"Umm, sure. I will have to tell the guys that we have a new addition. Wait, two new additions to the team."

"Who is the next?" Mom as confuse.

"Apinya, the League went after her and dad told her about what has been happening. So you will have someone to gossip with when I am not around, and oh. This is your oath, you must never ever tell anyone about the team, and you must do all that you can to protect the city. Do you accept these challenges?" I ask my mom, smiling as she put her right hand over her left breasts.

"I accept these challenges." She said.

"Then it is official, you are apart of team Insight." She squeal and pull me into a hug again. "Well come to the team mom."

'Thank you for trusting me honey, I will make you proud.' She thought.

'You already make me proud mom, just by being my mother.' I said in her mind. She jump back and look up at me with shock eyes.

"Did you just...?"

"Yep, it is one of my abilities. And oh, I can freeze time, wipe people's memories and a whole bunch of other things. Dad said that I am extraordinary." I brag a bit.

"He is right." Mom patted my cheeks, and I smile lovingly at her.

My phone started to ring, and I take it up and see Nathan's caller ID flashing across the screen. Oh crap, I totally forgot that he went out to look for me.

I swipe the answer icon and put the phone to my ears. "Hello Nathan." I said into the speaker.

"Thank God Miayana, where were you?" He ask over the line, sounding relief.

"Oh um, sorry about that. I was stressing out a bit about my assignment that I was working on, so I sneaked out and went to Robyn's apartment for a bit." I lied.

"You know that you shouldn't be out, there is a curfew and the city is not safe since of late." Care and love fill his voice.

"I know, I know. And I am sorry, you can punish me anyway you please officer." I said at the end trying to lighten the mood. Nathan laugh, and it brings a big smile on my lips.

"I hope that you didn't forget to wear your mask or to sanitize."He started again, mother hen mode much. But I still love it.

"Mask was on the entire time." I didn't lie about that, my domino mask was on over my eyes. And Dai had design some face mask and added them to our super suits as well. Even superheroes has to be safe, and we have to set an example. Wearing your face mask or shield can keep you protected from getting covid 19.

When the pandemic started, there were some people in the city who didn't want to abide by the rules. So the mayor of the city held a press conference and he invited me, Onna and Soul Searcher to speak about the safety and precautions to keep safe and not get covid, and after that everyone started to keep safe. Well almost everyone.

"Well that is good then, know then i must bid you good night."

"Wait, you are not coming back over?" I ask, feeling A bit down now by his news.

"Oh...um yea, I just receive some information from a detective down by the station. He said that Insight gave him some news about the strange attacks in the city, so I am going to go down by the station so I will call you tomorrow ok."

"Ok, I hope you call cause I will be looking out for it." I smile a goofy smile, I am so high for him.

"I promise that I will call you, and I am an officer of the law so I will always honor my promise."

"I know you will." I twirl a lock of my hair.

"Good night." He said.

"Good night." I said back before hanging up my phone.

I put my phone in my pocket, the goofy grin still on my face.

"You really like him don't you?" Mom ask.

"Yes, I do." I reply honestly.

"So, are you going to tell him?" The smile flutter from my face.

"No." Is my short answer.

Mom hold my hands in hers and give them a loving squeeze, while staring me in the eyes. "I respect your decision, but remember this. Every relationship is built on trust, so if you see yourself going further with Nathan, you have got to start being completely honest with him. Or at least start trusting him so one day you can tell him about the other part of your life." She pull me into a hug then pull away. "So, what are we doing tonight?" She rub her hands togather.

"Um..oh, I am going to call dad and ask him for the direction to the warehouse, so we," I pointed from me to her. "Can tell them that you are on the team now." There is no way I am doing that on my own.

Mom and I got out of her 2019 Suzuki in front of the two story building dad told us to come to, and we look around scanning the area. The street is quiet and empty, with only a dog barking in the distance. He wasn't lying when he said this part of the city is a ghost town, especially at night. On this street only warehouses and shipments places are located here, so nobody comes here of they don't necessarily have to. So it is a good location to set up our secret base, we go in and out without any suspicion from no one.

"So, this is the big base of operation." Mom whisper in my ear. I nodded my head and walk up to the door, placing my hand on the wall next to it, which cause an eye scanner to come out.

I love closer towards it and let it scan my retina, a green light flash, which means that I am accepted in and the door slides open.

Mom follow me inside, and we look around the empty space.

"Are you sure we are at the right place honey? Because there is nothing in her-" Suddenly the empty space around us started to shift and the layout of the old HQ come into view.

"Oh." My mother mutter, her mouth open in bewilderment.

"Check it out, hologram disguise- Miayana, what is your mother doing here?" Dad ask when he saw mom standing beside me.

"Oh right, where is everyone." I ask, chewing on my bottom lip because of dad's intense gaze that is fixed on me.

"I will call them." He tap the call button on his watch. "Guys, please come to the main room. Now." If he is just going to command them, why say please in the first place.

The rest of the team come out from another room, chatting amongst themselves. But stopped when they saw mom.

"What is happening?" Robyn mutter lowly, while everyone else frown in confusion.

"Um, mom found out that I am Insight-"

"Miayana!" Robyn and Dai groan at the same time.

"Look, I am sorry. But I was in a hurry to get back to Nathan that I didn't remember to change out of my suit, and when I climb back through my bedroom window mom was standing in my room." I explain to them.

"What if Nathan was the one in your room and not your mom, what would you have done then?" Robyn ask in a not so subtle voice, her hands on her hips.

"I would have told him the truth, just like how I told mom." I said without stopping to even take a breath. I would have been honest with him, why would I lie any way when the is right in front of him.

"What? You are not thinking Miayana. This gives the League more people to tar-"

"No, Miayana is right. She did what she knew was right. Now it is easier to protect her mother when she is apart of the team, so welcome to the ah...team." Dad smile at mom before awkwardly walking over to Apinya and put his hand around her waist.

"Thank you." Mom silently said.

Why is this place suddenly so awkward and full of tension? Aren't they happy that my mother is apart if the team now?

"Sorry, we are just so surprise that we got two new members on the team in just one night. And they are two of dad's baby mothers." Dai said and everyone else expect mom and dad, agreed.

I smile at wa- wait a second, did I just think what I said earlier out loud? I need to handle my powers better.

"Yes, you should." Dad points to the side of his head, signaling that I am mind linking him. I flush a bit and flash him an apologetic smile, to which he fan off, telling me that it's ok.

"So, did she make the oath as yet?" Dai ask me, I open my mouth to answer, but mom beat me to it.

"Yes I did Dai, and I promise that I won't tell anyone." Dai nodded and then come over and hug my mom. "Welcome to the team." My mother pat his back then Dai pull back with a grin. "So what can you bring to this team?" Mom look at him, lost by his question. "I mean, what are you good at that can benefit the team."

"Oh, I am a pharmacist if that counts"

"Good, you can help me in the medical wing when these guys get injured." Hase chime in with a beaming smile on his face, and my nods with a equally bright smile on her lips.

"Mom, I guess you just got your place on my team." I said to her, laughing as she ruffles my hair.

"This sector is vacant." I said into my com set. It is the next day, and we are currently at this newly built lab on the outskirts of the city. We have gotten inside information- and by inside information, I mean that I went to his prison cell after mom got settled in and Nathan called on the number that I-Insight had gave him to call if he has something he wants the team to know or help the police force with. He told me that Vincent, the man that the League sent to get the bromtonium at the gala, wanted to speak with me. So I went to see him, and he told me that the League has an underground lab where they do experiments on patients they snatch from the medical center they built on top of the underground lab. Trying to see if they can mutate their DNA like what they did to my Dad, but they are failing. Even with the extra dose of bromtonium they could crack the code, it only mutate the body for a couple hours until a second dosage is appiled. He also told me that they are running out of test subject, and also of bromtonium so they started to build androids to come and draw us out. He said that the head of the operation is Dr. Curtis Palmer, who's father had been the brain of the operation before him. He had died in the fire the second time when dad had destroyed the lab they were experimenting in before. Vincent also said that Palmer is using his skills in dermatology to Lauer people in his dermatology medical centre that he is using as a facade to carry out the League's crummy business. I ask him why he is ratting out the League's secrets to me, and his reply was because they betrayed him. They left him to rot in a prison cell, while they roam free. So his desire is to see them all pay. He said that he would have testy against the League but Palmer has dirt on him that would have put him away for many many years. He also told me to beware, to never get caught, because all the League wants is a drop of any of the Hesketh's blood to make more people like us. Which they will sell of to use as weapons. I have went back to the base and inform everyone of what I have learnt, Hase didn't trust Vincent's words one bit. But I read his mind, and he was telling the truth. He could have lied, cause I have secretly pryed into his mind and saw everything that he had told me, playing out in his head. Now here I am, perch up on one the buildings at the medical center scanning the area to see if I can find any illegal activity of the League but I didn't see anything. Only people going in and out of the clinics.

"How are things going on your side Onna and Soul Searcher?" I ask through the com.

"It is a negative on my end." Soul Searcher voice rung over the com.

"It is pretty chill on my end too." Onna said sounding bored.

"Roger that, but I think that we should wait for a bit." I said, looking at the handful of people going into the medical center.

At least they are practicing social distancing, I guess whatever they have going in the lab underneath the centre will be affected with all their patients and staff catches the corona virus.

An hour passed and I am starting to think that Vincent lied to me and Hase was right, when I hear a sudden whistle and something prick me in the side of my neck. I shallow, and feel my neck. My hand brush over a small tranquilizer dart and my vision started to get blurry, and my throat started to tighten and my tongue started to feel heavy. Am I having a stroke, or this tranquilizer is really strong.

"G-g-guys.....h-help." My vision blurred as black spots appear, I fell to my knees and as my vision started to darken I see a dark figure coming towards me.

I have just been caught, and I hope I didn't just put my whole entire team, the city and the world in danger.
