Chapter 1: Rip Jones

Reuben Jones has always had to look out for his younger brother Xavier for the past 300 years but as a hybrid, he has struggled to keep his demonic and vampire urges on taps. During the first centuries, Reuben has started to lose control of the bloodlust and because of that, he started a killing spree around Delaware.

Present-day 2020, Reuben was wearing some blue jeans with a white T-shirt and a black leather jacket, with some black and white conversations. Reuben was walking down the streets of Los Angeles, late at night, Reuben slicks back his hair and heads to a diner, and takes a seat near a window. Meanwhile, a waitress heads towards his table, Reuben stares at the beautiful blonde-haired waitress as she was serving him the coffee.

Hey, I see that you came back for some more coffee., said the blonde waitress as her hazel eyes were looking into Reuben's green eyes. Reuben laughs as he takes a sip of his coffee and rubs on the back of his neck and says,

Yeah, here I am, but I do have to admit something, I didn't only come here for the coffee. The blonde waitress grins as she starts to get nervous.

So, what else brings you back here besides the coffee? The waitress asks as she sits across from Reuben,

I came here to see you Grace., says Reuben as he smiles at Grace. Grace starts to get confused,

How do you know my name? Grace asks, Reuben points at her name tag, Grace laughs, and says,

Well, I kind of feel dumb right now, by the way, I didn't get your name mister. Reuben grins as he says,

Jones, my name is Reuben Jones, but my friends call me Rip. Later that night Grace gets off work and as she locks up the diner, Reuben is standing on the side of the building, and Grace turns to see Reuben waiting for her. But as Reuben was walking Grace to her house down the street. Grace turns to Reuben and places her hand on his cheek and kisses him.

Do you want to come inside? Grace asked

Yes, I would like that a lot, Grace., Reuben replies as the two head inside of the house.

Reuben and Grace head to the bedroom and as they started to make love, Reuben got on top of Grace and starts kissing her neck. He starts to hear her blood pumping through her veins, suddenly Reuben's eyes turned into a dark blue and black color, and then Reuben sinks his fangs inside of Grace's neck. Grace screams as she tries pushing Reuben off her but that didn't stop him from sucking her blood dry. While Reuben was feeding on Grace, he feels her cold hands on his back as she dies. After Reuben was done, he looks at Grace's lifeless body and wipes the blood off his face as he starts to put his clothes back on.

I'm so sorry Grace, I hope you can forgive me., Reuben says as he leaves Grace's house. Meanwhile, Reuben heads to his loft in the city, the loft was big enough for two people, it was always dark in there, he had a TV and some furniture, and he had some painting of him and his brother back in the 1700s. Reuben walks inside of the loft, turns on the lights, and when he heads into the kitchen, he opens up his refrigerator, grabs some water and heads to the living room, and sits down on the couch as he remembers the faces of every one of his victims that he has killed. Reuben roars as he sees how much pain and suffering, he has a cost and how many lives that he has taken and then all that guilt started to flood inside of his mind driving him straight into madness.

So, five years later, Reuben has gotten himself together, so he became a monster hunter and he was one of the best monster hunters in the world. But Reuben was keeping the city of angels safe from evil itself. Reuben also met another monster hunter named Ned Grey; he was the best monster hunter that ever lived. Ned and Reuben both built a building for the business which was called Jones and Grey Inc.

Meanwhile, Reuben was sitting down at his desk looking at a picture of him, Ned, and their assistant and bookkeeper Jonah Weathers. Jonah was exceptionally beautiful had long curly brown hair and green eyes. Reuben turns to the other side of his desk and grabs a photo of his brother and his girlfriend Rose Dawson in the 1930s.

In 1935, Reuben and Xavier Jones were attending a party for one of the world's most dangerous crime bosses of them all, Kanaan Pitts. Kanaan was not even human he was something else, legends have it that he was the brother of Lunis the king of the underworld. Kanaan was like 6ft5, he was bald and always wore an all-white suit, as he was walking inside of the nightclub called Wildfire. While Reuben and Xavier were at the bar ordering whiskey Kanaan and his goons approach the brothers and says,

Well, well, well now look what we have here the Jones brothers in the flesh, so what are you doing here?

Well, it's good to see you too old friend, I just wanted my brother and me to have a good time Kanaan., Reuben says as he grins at Kanaan.

Hello there Xavier, if you guys ever need anything, I mean anything just give me a call, It good to see you too old friend stay out of trouble., says Kanaan as he smiles at the Jones Brothers and leaves. The brothers start to drink their whiskeys and were just talking about anything that pops into their heads until Rose Dawson and her friend Vanessa Bose walk in. When Reuben caught his eye at Vanessa it was like love at first sight, he had never felt like that before, he kind of felt human around her. As Rose and Vanessa walks to the bar and sits next to the boys, Reuben gets up from his seat and moves next to Vanessa, and says,

Doug, can you get this beautiful woman next to me any kind of drink that she wants? Doug nods as he nods to Vanessa.

I would have some water, and thank you, Mr. Jones., Vanessa says as she stares at Reuben like she was reading him.

You are very welcome, may I ask for your name? Reuben asked

Vanessa, my name is Vanessa Bose., said Vanessa as she grins at Reuben

My name is Reuben Jones., says Reuben as he shakes Vanessa's soft hands. After that very moment, the two begin to talk to each other all night they were talking about what they did for a living. At the time Reuben was a musician and Vanessa was a detective and they were telling each other about their jobs. Anyway, this Billie Holiday song I'll Be Seeing You came on the radio. Reuben starts to stare at Vanessa and notice how beautiful she was, it was like an everlasting beauty in the flesh.

May I have this dance, Miss Bose? Reuben asks as he sticks out his hand towards Vanessa, she starts to smile and says,

Yes, I will love to dance with you, Mr. Jones., The two started dancing to the song they didn't talk the whole time they dance all night.

Meanwhile present day, Reuben was 6 ft 2, he had a beard growing in and his hair was long enough to fit in a ponytail. Reuben puts the picture down and grabs the bottle of whiskey that he had in the top draw of his desk and pulls out a glass cup and pours some of the whiskey in the glass and as he stops, he puts the bottle away. Reuben looks at the picture and takes a sip of his whiskey. Jonah walks in the office to see Reuben drunk at his desk and she grabs the cup and dumps it into the sink and says,

Come on Rip, let's get you somewhere to lay your head at for the night.

Jonah grabs Reuben and helps him up from his chair and takes him to the couch in the waiting room and lays him down.

Thank you, Jo you are a lifesaver, I owe you one., says Reuben

No problem Rip, you need to stop drinking ok it's not healthy., says Jonah as she starts to walk towards her desk.

The next day Ned walks into the office to see Reuben sleeping on the couch and Jonah sleeping at her desk. Ned rub on his short blond hair and throws a baseball at Reuben using his telekinesis but Reuben catches the ball without even looking, Reuben gets up and says,

Well good morning to you too Buddy boy., Reuben tosses the ball to Ned as he grabs a bottle of water from the refrigerator.

So, I think we just found our lead on the so-called animal attack case., says Ned as he pulls out a cigarette and sits on his desk.

Oh yeah what do you got because everyone in the city is starting to ask questions and the chief is breathing down my neck about this, so we need to find this monster and stop it before it kills someone else., says Reuben as he takes a sip of his water and sits down on his chair.

Meanwhile, Ned told them that the monster was hiding out somewhere in the woods at Creekmore. As Reuben, Ned, and Jonah were walking through the woods of Creekmore. Ned had a crossbow, Jonah had a handgun, and Reuben had two white daggers, and as Reuben was walking something extraordinarily strong hit causing him to fly up in the air.

REUBEN!, Ned and Jonah scream as they both looked at the demon, the demon was ridiculously huge. The demon was a void but when the demon started to lunge at Ned and Jonah. Ned shot him with the crossbow in the gut by nothing happens, so Ned knocks the demon down using his telekinesis, Jonah shoots the demon in his leg causing him to roar in pain. So, the demon hops up in the air towards the two hunters until Reuben uses his superspeed to run up behind the demon and shoves his hand into the heart. The demon grabs Reuben's hand and headbutts him in his face, Reuben's eyes start to change into a black and blue color as he slashes the demon in the face with his claws as he kicks the demon in the gut as Ned tosses one of Reuben's daggers to him. Reuben caught the dagger and stabs it into the demon's heart killing it instantly. Reuben turns to Joan and Ned and nods to them as he starts to change back into his human form, Joan rushes to Reuben and says,

Rip are you alright, you took one hell of a hit., Reuben nods as he heads down to his pickup truck and grabs a white T-shirt, and took off the shirt that he already had on. Reuben puts on the T-shirt and goes inside his glove department and grabs his bottle of whiskey and takes a sip out of the bottle and closes his eyes as he starts to heal his injuries. Reuben goes back to the demon's body and takes out the dagger from its heart causing the demon to turn into ash.

Meanwhile, after they killed the demon, they headed to Reuben's apartment and went to his library that has the secret to every single supernatural being in the whole universe. Reuben opens a hidden door to his library and goes to this shelf full of books and he pulls out this one book that has a crescent moon on the front cover. Reuben starts flicking through the pages of the book and stops at one of the pages and looks at Ned and starts rubbing his head.

What is it Rip huh, what is all of this about? Ned asks as Reuben guides him to the book. Ned starts to read what the prophecy has to say about a demon named Lunis is going to destroy the whole universe, but it is up to the defenders of the universe the Shadow Landers but only four of the chosen ones will sacrifice themselves to defeat Lunis. Ned stops reading and looks up at Reuben and says,

Rip what does all of this supposed to mean, so are you telling me that if Lunis is still alive he is going to destroy the whole freaking universe is that what you are telling me?

Yes, Ned and Lunis alive I can feel because after my best friend sacrifices himself to stop him, Lunis came back and is now going to rule the whole damn world if I don't go to Jerryland to talk to Jax Sims and Frederick Taylor., says Reuben as he starts to pack all of the weapons that he needs to the war. Reuben puts the duffel bag in the back of the pickup.

15 minutes later Reuben gets inside of his truck and Jonah and Ned hops in the truck.

What are you guys are doing in here? Reuben asks

We are coming to help you save the world so to Jerryland we go., Ned says as he starts to get comfortable. Reuben just nods as he starts up the truck and starts driving to Jerryland.

Meanwhile, as they made it to Jerryland the streets were nice and clean, and the houses and apartment buildings were big.

It's good to be back home., says, Reuben as he was heading to Jax's warehouse, so as they pull up to the warehouse there was a lot full of cars and two motorcycles. Reuben, Ned, and Jonah head inside of the warehouse and sees his brother Xavier, Rose, and Charlie Walker the Future Wolf. Reuben grins as he walks up to his little brother and hugs him and says,

It's good to see you again baby brother, I see you found Rose. Rose laughs as she hugs Reuben and waves to Jonah and Ned.

Rip, I see that you got my message, it's good to have you on our side because we will need your strength., Jax says as he takes off his blacktop and he starts to brush off his suit as he shows Reuben and his team around the warehouse. The warehouse was nice, they had reinforced cells for prisoners had the state-of-the-art technology that Theo Hicks invented.

Welcome to the T.O.Y., lady, and gentlemen, so the reason I contact you Rip was that we need your help, we need your expertise in fighting the most powerful demon in the universe., Jax says as he walks to the team table. Reuben looks around the warehouse and smiles at Jax,

I like what you have done with the place Sims, it looks good., said Reuben as he looks around the place and was amazed at what he saw. Jax stops at the exit and looks at Reuben and says,

You and your team should get some rest because we have a long day tomorrow so goodnight.

Meanwhile, they stop at the Jerryland motel to order a room. The motel room was big enough for five people and it was exceptionally clean. Reuben and Xavier were outside of the motel room talking to each other about their adventures. Reuben takes out a cigarette and Xavier stares at Reuben like he was crazy and says,

Come on Ruby, you are smoking again, first, it was weed and then the drinking now the freaking cigarettes, come on bro., Reuben laughs as he puts the cigarette in his mouth and lights it up, and smokes it right in front of Xavier. Xavier shakes his head as he walks to his car and as he gets inside of his car, he pulls a picture of him and Rose in 1935 at Wildfire Club. Xavier starts to laugh as he was thinking about the first time, he and rose met.

Flashback 1935, the Jones brothers were at the Wildfire getting some drinks as they were talking about the wars of the dark ages and how they could find a way to save Finn from the Peace Realm. After Finn died his soul was automatically carried to the Peace Realm to become one of the Peace Realm greatest warriors in the world. As Xavier takes a sip of his drink, he spots one of the most beautiful women that he has ever seen Rose was wearing this red dress, it was so bright that it looked like her dress was on fire. Xavier puts his drink down and heads to the dance floor and starts to fantasize about Rose as if she was going to lean in to kiss Xavier but really in reality the two was on the dance floor dancing to a Duke Ellington song. Rose stops dancing for a second and looks into Xavier's blue eyes,

You are different than any other man, it's like you are destined to do great things for the world but inside there's a little doubt in you., Rose says while placing her hand on Xavier's cheek. Xavier puts his hand over Rose's and says,

Let's just say that now I just found another reason to keep fighting, Ms. Dawson.,

Present Day

Reuben looks at the picture and smirked at it before handing it back to Xavier,

I had one of the best times of my life back then, how do you still have that picture? Reuben says as he pushes his hair back.

Well, I'm going to call it a night we have a big day tomorrow, see you in the morning brother., Reuben said as he heads towards his motel room he walks past Charlie's room and nods as he keeps walking. When he heads inside of his room, he takes off his shirt exposing a tattoo of sunrise and he sits down on his bed and starts thinking of Vanessa and how much they loved each other. He pulls an old photo of the two at the Wildfire Nightclub they looked so happy. Reuben lays down on the bed and closes his eyes and thinks about the first time that he saw Vanessa and during that period he was going through a dark path because of his blood lust but when he was around Vanessa she would always bring the human side out of him she brought him peace and joy.

The Next Day

Reuben heads over to the warehouse and as he gets out of his truck his best friend Finn O'Malley and his son Sam. Reuben looks at Finn and hugs him and says,

It's so good to see you again old friend.,

It's good to see you too Reuben, this is my son Sam., Finn says as he points to his son. Sam O'Malley was 6ft, buff for a 25-year-old had short brown hair and baby blue eyes, and had on a black trench coat with a grey T-shirt and some blue jeans with some black and white converses.

It's nice to finally meet you in the flesh Reuben I used to hear stories about you and my father when I was a kid my mother couldn't stop talking about you guys., Said, Sam.

Well I got to go check on Theo and Jax it's nice to meet you., Sam says as he leaves. Finn starts to laugh while staring at his best friend for the first time, Finn was 5ft11 had short black hair and green eyes. Finn was Irish he had on a red and white flannel shirt with a white T-shirt with blue jeans and some boots.

"Reuben what's been going on with since the wars, I seen that Xavier has been doing well, he has been guiding the Future Wolf.," says Finn as he rubs on his full-grown beard.

"Yeah, I have been hanging in there Finn.", Reuben replies

Finn grinned as he pats Reuben on his back.
