Chapter 47

“Uh,” Riley pauses, glancing at me and looking oddly nervous while I discreetly shake my head at him.

“Don’t worry. I’ll take care of her,” he tells Riley, as he slowly rakes his gaze over me from head to toe and nudges Riley to the side.

“It’s fine, Riley,” I reassure him, my eyes scrutinizing Ashford as I try to figure out what he’s playing at.

“Okay, just come find me when you’re done,” he tells me, kissing my cheek before walking away.

“He’s so sweet,” Ashford mocks as he lines up the cups. “And you’re quite the beer pong player. I didn’t take you for a partier.”

“Yeah, well there’s a lot of things you don’t know about me. Regardless if you think you magically know everything. Like the fact that you’re holding my whiskey bottle,” I snap, snatching the bottle from the hand that isn’t lining up the cups.

“Oh, that was yours? A girl that likes whiskey. Just speak straight to my heart, baby girl,” he says sarcastically.
