Chapter 54

After a painfully slow drive, we finally arrive and I cut the engine to the bike, cloaking us in darkness and silence. I carry her to the back door of the clinic where Dr. Sylvia is already waiting for me to walk through. I walk into the brightly lit white room and walk around it to make sure that all the blinds are closed and all the doors are locked. After I see we're good, I turn around and see she’s already gotten a table ready and prepared for her.

“Lay a sheet on it or something. Make it more comfortable and warmer,” I demand.

“You know I can’t do that. I have to make sure it’s sterile and doesn’t interfere with my equipment. Tell me what happened so I know everything I need to check,” she tells me in her professionally calm voice.

“Just look for internal injuries or bleeding. That’s all I need,” I tell her as I take my jacket off of Holloway and lay her on the table.
