Chapter 68

“What are you doing out here? I had it handled. I’m really starting to think you’re stalking me,” I snap at him.

“You figured me out. I’m definitely stalking you,” he sarcastically replies, widening his eyes briefly as he spoke.

“Why did you follow us then?”

“Don’t flatter yourself too much, Holloway. I was just walking around and heard the argument.”

“And you just had to come to save the day again? I don’t believe you.”

“I don’t care,” he quips, bending down and leveling his face with mine.

“Why the fuck are you out here, Ashford?”

“I told you not to do stupid things. Coming out here alone with him when he’s been as irrational as he’s been, qualifies as you doing a stupid thing.”

“I don’t need your help to handle Colton. He wouldn’t hurt me. I don’t need your help with anything.”

“I didn’t step in for your benefit or because I thought you needed help. I did it for myself.”

“What are you talking about? How would that be for yourself?”
