They head off to the water while I stay back and finish off my whiskey. When it’s empty, I toss it to the sand and glare up at Ashford.

“You know how I said we’re even before? Well, this is so past even now.”

He chuckles darkly before saying, “Really? I thought we were having a blast.” He grabs my hand with the hand that’s not holding my hip and lifts it up to look at it. “You even got Joseph’s number out of it. Too bad he doesn’t have the greatest muscles you’ve felt though.”

“I wasn’t talking about you when I said that,” I snap at him, frustrated with myself for slipping all over again.

“Sure you weren’t.”

“You are unbelievably full of yourself. I hate you,” I bite at him, heading to the water where Amy is playfully flirting with Riley while they wait for us.

“I bet you do, baby girl,” he chuckles, tossing his phone to the sand and following me.
