Chapter 120

I have to fight to hide my excitement at hearing his name. He’s the friend. I could definitely get my answers from him. Clearly, he’s involved too. I stop myself from telling him my name and fumble around in my mind for an alias. I should have thought this through more. Well, here’s to winging it. “Amy.”

“Beautiful name for a beautiful girl. I’ve been hoping to find you here again. You just made my dreams come true tonight.”

Again? He must have been one of the guys that were at the pool table that night. I probably would have noticed if I hadn’t been so mindlessly wrapped up in Ashford. “The feeling's mutual.” God, I sound so pathetic I’m making myself sick. I have no idea how he’s buying into this. I’m awful. I toss back the second drink and feel myself loosen up. Just in time.

“Feel like playing a game of pool with me? You can be my partner.”

“Absolutely. But I have to warn you, I won’t be a great partner.”

“I’ll show you the ropes. No worries.”
