Natalie had always been a fairly happy girl with a life that she was content with. At least until six months ago when her lifelong best friend, with who she had shared everything with up until that point, suddenly decided that they needed to end their friendship with no warning. The life that she had known and loved shattered around her, taking her with it.  I moved, even if it was futile, even as he moved faster across the yard. He appeared behind me, his breath tickling my ear. “Having trouble, baby girl? Come on, Amy’s getting Riley easily.” He smashes a snowball on the top of my head, and I growl as I whirl on him. 


 But he’s already disappeared again and I whirled so fast I managed to lose my balance, falling to my ass in the thick layers of snow. He laughs as I stand back up. But I was already lunging for him again with renewed determination, his mouth split in a grin of wicked delight as I tackled him into the snow.
