Natalie had always been a fairly happy girl with a life that she was content with. At least until six months ago when her lifelong best friend, with who she had shared everything with up until that point, suddenly decided that they needed to end their friendship with no warning. The life that she had known and loved shattered around her, taking her with it. After Ashford had taken off, Rex stepped back outside and leaned against the back door, watching me silently-making his message clear. He was assigned the task of ensuring I left. So, he was good enough to do Ashford’s bidding, but not good enough to acknowledge me beyond that. And, of course, he did as he was told to. It only made me wonder exactly who Ashford is, why everyone just immediately bowed to him and did as they were told. 


I had made it to the Leisure Club late, avoiding Riley and Colton’s line of questioning when they noticed how shaken up I appeared, and did my best to be in the moment with them.
