Chapter 9: Late

Wexford Greige’s POV**

As examined the papers on the table, I looked at the wristwatch which my mother handed over to me last year during my 27th birthday.

I have noticed that already quarter to twelve, but Thena is not yet arriving. *Where did she go?*

I tried to check my messenger but she didn’t have a message which caused me worried. I dialed her number four times, but has no answering.

*Why don’t you answer my call? Where are you?* I stated while my phone still sticking to my ear.

I have sensed maybe she’s unavailable. It was about to follow up when ringing, so I answered immediately.

There’s someone knocking on the door and I knew that was her.

“Come in.” Until she had entered with carrying meal in her arms. I showed my sharp look first to let her explain to me why she held very great.

“I’m sorry Greige if come late. I have many things to be done in our main office. There was also a presentation that scheduled at 11:00AM so I have just bought our lunch from a fast-food chain. I can take longer if I reach home.” She showed me a long and breathless explanation.

She’s in a hurry to run here, however I only glanced at her with a bitter expression that used to provoke her.

“You should text me if busy so you won’t bother to come here and become tired.” I mentioned, while remaining the tone of my voice.

Her face is little sad, and she didn’t say a word. I smiled in reaction silently. Then, I hugged her that she drove to turn around without noticing.

“Sorry, mi cielo it’s kidding.” As my arms wrapped her waist. “Don’t sulk anymore.”

Unfortunately, she pulled my hug away from her. I guessed that would be ok.

“Let’s eat. I am starving.” She said as she got a seat. While we were eating, I couldn’t help but glare at her again.

She is cute, that makes me continue to smile, “What are you smiling at?” She teased me, so I am even better excited.

“You seem peevish. It’s teasing.” I previously told her the truth because she thought I was angry. “I am not mad at you.” It’s just a piece of cake and I can’t believe that she drove serious.

Athena doesn’t certainly to speak after I explained to her. She seemed furious at what I did.

All I can do is breaming at this lady, even if she stabbed me. I don’t care, however, simply good to see her this. My realization tells that I love her very more.

“Don’t stare like that when I’m picking.” She complained, and I smirked at her. We ran out of those two and she did the same thing.

After done eating lunch, we sat on the sofa and play the music on my phone. I want to play this song and it suits us, really. After a while I finally clicked on the said music.

“I like the song, uh. It sounds familiar, “She said with the index finger focused on her senses.

“Ronan Keating who sang that song.” As my reply and she shook her head at me.

“That is.” She confirmed.

“Actually, the song is for you. “Her eyes become widen. She’s really cute no matter what angle, hehe. “The lyrics of the song signify a message about how I feel for you.” Then, I scratched my neck because I felt it embarrassing.

My eyes narrowed as Athena replied, “Oh, I have to leave now.” As she looked at her wrist watch she was wearing. My smile disappeared.

“I still have something important to finish from the office.” Athena said. Nothing to insist, but I just nodded to her.

“Be careful Athena.” I spoke with my soft tone, then she smiled at me before walking away from my room.

**Althaea Cassidy’s POV**

It almost forgotten that Terylene and I had to finish something in the office. I’m carried away of crazy guy’s sweetness now.

Don’t know why it flattered me of what he says. I’m not the actual girlfriend which just pretending to be his. Why am I am so affected? I should feel this only for my actual boyfriend. What’s happening to me now?

*Don’t let yourself fall into the trap or else you won’t be able to get out.* I went inside and Tery looked at me with a surprised on her face.

“Hi Ma’am, Thena. Where have you been? I’ve been looking for you earlier.” She showed me her cellphone at the same time.

“Because your dad is also searching for you and I said you went somewhere for a while.” Terylene added as she faced me, then she continued typing again on the computer.

“I was probably nervous. Maybe, he will fire me in no time.” She uttered with a worry on her face.

“Don’t worry, he will not fire you. I can handle the situation.” As I confidently promised to her.

“Is that you went from Sir Greige?” She asked with teasing me.

This woman is a kind of gossiper too. If I were not kind person, I already sealed her mouth of a packing tape.

“It looks like…” I didn’t let her continue what she is going to say.

“Not just like that. Impossible.” I quickly respond because it never happens.

I’m still in love with Troezen. It must keep my promise that he is still my love and be with him when I return to Manila.

“Please stop of what you’re saying, Tery. Your mind implies vague. Probably, you’re just overthinking.” I showed her my serious reaction so that she would stop assuming things.

“Alright, I’ll think I do this now because we might not finish this. Your Dad will scold me again.” She said, then kept quiet to concentrate on what she was doing on the computer.

At three o’clock in the afternoon, Tery who voluntarily bought our snacks while I am only focused to examine our company’s financial accounts.

Yes, I am the one who standing as a manager in the accounting department at home. I usually do my responsibilities. It’s just have a coincidence about the board meeting this morning.

I am also the one who presented the financial status and stocks of our company, which are probably stable now.

It fortunately graduated me of Business Management from the famous university here while accountancy which has Athena studied too. I am knowing how to complete it with the help of Terylene as well.

After office hours, Tery and I went out together. We unexpectedly met Mom and Dad in the elevator.

Tery asked me to let her go first and simply nodded as the response.

“Where have you been? I’m asking at your secretary, aren’t you?” asked Dad.

It sighed me heavily. “I just went somewhere important. “I lied.

I didn’t want to tell them the truth. I have thought they misunderstood me.

“Make sure it did not always focus on your boyfriend. Don’t act foolishly like your twin and look at what happened to her now? “Dad’s face appears annoyed.

I just nodded in response and didn’t say a word until we got home. It just went me straight to my room and sit on my soft bed to take off the sandal I was wearing, then laid back.

My cellphone came to my mind that was rare can touch and open again.

Zen has many texts for me, same with my best-friend, Gin so I replied to her first, before my hubby.

*Me: Hey beshie!*

*To: Yeah, Gin!*

*Me: Hello hubby. It’s busy because I replied just now.*

*To: Zen*

It was about a few minutes later my boyfriend replied to me right away. I smiled at him.

Zen: It’s ok. Are you resting now?

(I was about to reply when Zen’s face pop on my screen).

Zen: You’re obviously tired now.

Me: Yes, I was.

Zen: But have you eaten already your meal?

Me: Not yet, we’ll just arrive home.

Zen: You’re still the wifey I met. You haven’t changed at all.

Me: Why should I?

Zen: None, but I miss you so much. I hope you can come back here to me now.

Me: Yes, unless my twin is already awakened.

After our convo, I immediately returned the cellphone from its place. I was about to go to bed when there’s someone knocking on the door.
