Chapter 11

“What the hell are we supposed to do now?” Felipe said with a desperate voice. His hair was messed up, there were dark circles under his eyes, eyes bloodshot.

Hector who was sitting on the couch with his hands under his chin, listening to exactly what had happened between the time Carlos left the driveway and when he sat back in the car, got up and stared outside the window. He seemed to be in a deep thought.

“We are screwed. That’s it. We can’t get out of this one. Everyone will find out my secret we’ve work so hard to keep hidden. They WILL kill me, probably you too.” Felipe was rambling on. “But you know what, I think we can do something about that.” Felipe said now with a determined face.

That caught Hectors attention. He turned his head to give Felipe a questioning look.

“It’ll be hard but I think we can do it. You’ll pretend you had no idea. I’ll tell them I had you fooled too.”

Hector smirked. “That’s your bright idea BOSS?”

“What? This way they won’t kill you, they’ll just think you’re a bit slow. AND they’ll know what a great conning man I was of course.” Felipe said shooting his eyebrows up and down, he was using his fake sarcasm. If Hector didn't know him like the back of his hand he would have thought he was actually a carefree, jolly, irresponsible, cocky guy. To be exact he was that guy sometimes, but it has been so long since he was that guy, that was before he had any actual problems.

“Oh just shut up.” Hector said with a dismissive tone.

“Hey, I’m still your boss don't talk to me like that.” Felipe said with obvious fake anger.

“I said shut it.” Hector said indifferently.

“Well I don't see you coming up with any ideas, Mr. Genius.” Felipe said shaking his tilted head at Hector who once again was facing the window.

There were a few moments of silent.

“Well?” Felipe asked impatiently. “You’ve been making your thinking face for a while now, have you found a way to perform miracles or we going with my way?”

“I did.” Hector said, still staring outside.

“Did what? Become Jesus?” Felipe said throwing his head back with a loud chuckle.

Hector finally turned around.

He was visibly worried. His eyebrows drawn together, his eyes fixed on Felipe, he biting off the skin around his fingernails.

It was a bad habit but he had it completely under control, well for most of the time.

Felipe sat straight. He know it was bad. He only saw Hector do that on a few occasions, most big nights of business or the times they were under attack by their competitors.

“What is it? You’re scaring me.” Felipe said, tapping his foot restlessly. “How bad is it?”

“Bad. You definitely won’t like it.” Hector said focusing on Felipe foot.

“I don't like dying either, it can’t be worse than that.”

“I wouldn't be so sure about it.”

Felipe foot stopped. He narrowed his eyes, trying to figure out what Hector didn't seem to be able to say out loud.

“Look, it’s not ideal but I think it’s the only way. I’ll handle everything myself, you won’t have to move a muscle, all you need to do is trying to trust me. I won’t let it get out of hand.”

“What do you want exactly?” Felipe asked with doubtful eyes set on Hector.

“You just have to allow me.” Hector couldn't keep his nerves under control, he was looking at Felipe like he was about to blow up.

“Allow you what?” Felipe asked with suspicion, he was praying Hector wouldn't say what he thought he was.

“To share your secret.” Hector said under his breath, his eyes filled with guilt.
