CHAPTER NINE
Ash’s POV
I woke up on my bed, the sun going down, the room was drenched in dancing golden and purple lights. My eyes focused on Jace, crouched at the side of the bed. His hair was still dripping wet, he looked at home with his white loose t-shirt, eyes staring at a blank spot somewhere in my room.
My hand reached up and touched a stray wet hair out from his eyes. His eyes landed on me immediately.
“What’s wrong?” I whispered, like the barest volume will shatter this current peace we have.
He blinked like he was surprised I knew he was troubled. I huffed out a laugh, didn’t he know at this point I was fluent in the language of Jace?
But the stare he gave me after that was unreadable, an unknown expression that looked fond. He smiled a little then looked away, sighing.
It was a moment later when he finally said, “My grandfather wants to see me.”
Well, that was unexpected.
I blinked, clearing my thoughts then, “What are you going to do?”
