Chapter 20

I looked at the two open graves, in which wooden chests were already lying. The pastor sprinkled them with holy water for the last time and walked on from the pits.

He approached my father, who was holding my little sister's hand.

People took a handful of clay, which they threw into the pits.

„Poor woman, she hasn't suffered so much loss," they began to talk, or rather slander.

„You were to blame, the child died too and I didn't kill myself because of it. I did another one, "said the woman with the long braid, looking thoughtfully everywhere.

„That's right, she was a crazy woman. People avoided her big arch, "she nodded.

I was upset, they still talk about my mother, who always helped them, even though she never had much.

„Don't do anything about it, the village grannies are like that," he simply explained and walked away.
