Day 3; September 5, 2019

I was tired as fuck today, of course. I couldn't fall asleep until 3 in the morning, and I had to wake up early to make everyone breakfast. Not like they cared. Sometimes I wonder if I'm a good person or not. But breakfast could not get me through today.

I had to sit through each and every single class, trying to listen intently without falling asleep. Earth Science was definitely the worst of the day though. When the teacher was explaining to us what we were going to need for the year, I must of accidentally fallen asleep, because I woke up to the sound of someone's speaker in my ear. They put a speaker roughly the size of a bowling ball and put it directly next to my ear, blasting the song, 'Never Gonna Give You Up' by Rick Astley. I woke up, startled by the sound, then filled with anger and embarrassment. Matthew was in the class, but he wasn't laughing along with the class like he would. He was disturbingly quiet.

When lunch came around, I pulled out the list and inspected everyone. I watched their every move, staring at my classmates. I held the pen, and no one had done anything in peculiar. Nothing good happened, nor anything bad. I left the list alone.

-------------

On my way home though, I noticed something spine-chilling:

Matthew was following me.

I had the slightest idea on why he was following me. There were two options. Either one, he was just stalking me to letter jump out and brag about how much money he has, or two, the option where he tries to beat me up for last night. If it was the second option, I was in no condition to fight. I had to run, but I was already tired and exhausted. Then, an idea came to mind.

IF he was following me home and was going to beat me up later, I would just have to lose him off my tail. That would mean I would have to change my route. I would take three lefts, a right, go straightforward, take a left, a right again, and then go home, instead of taking the normal route which was a right, a left, then straightforward. I knew this neighborhood like the back of my hand, and I wasn't worried too much about what the time was. 'Nice try, but you won't be able to stay on to me for long,' I thought.

-------------

About halfway through the route I described earlier, I lost sight of Matthew. I figured it was safe to head back the normal way now.

I returned home, no names still crossed off the list. I was going to expect some names crossed off in about thirty days, but only a few. Luckily, today was smooth, but there are going to be tough times this year. No one said high school was easy, but they didn't say it was dangerous. Ha.

I can't wait to change that.
