Okay, now that everyone has cross the water, let's move on to the next hurdle. Okay, everyone, here we go, these pads underneath will undoubtedly break your fall. Climbing should focus on your endurance and upper body strength as scoring criterion.
Only a few of you were knocked out, and that was due to your inability to swim. Okay, everyone, I'll see you all at the top. Anselm then began ascending a thirty foot tall wooden log wall.
Many others then began saying, "Show off." As more people began climbing, they discovered that the wall was saturated and reeked of oil. As a result, the logs became slippery, prompting the majority of people to repeat their harsh comment.
However, this was not the end of the wall's surprises. Many traps, such as wooden spikes, were positioned on the logs. Followed by shards of glass, many nails, and wooden pressure plates. This would cause vibrations to be transmitted throughout the entire wall.
This stumbling block threatens many people, including Dallas. He'd fallen around two times and had lost his grasp on many more occasions. When Dallas fell for the third time, he had had enough and unsheathed his blade.
Before beginning the test, Dallas considered many techniques to ascend the wall. And this was one of the two solutions he devised. As he ascended the wall, he began plunging his blade into the logs.
This kind of approach tremendously increased his understanding. Although, especially as he saw Anselm achieve the pinnacle. For some inexplicable reason, it filled him with rage and even determination.
Dallas was one of those who rose to the top. When around thirty participants had completed the course. Anselm then took a five-minute timer and placed it at the top of the wall.
Many were motivated to reach the peak as a result of this, yet many were still unable to do so. In contrast to the previous course, individuals who did not pass were not asked to leave. Instead, they were awarded a ten percent labed pin.
Those who wore the pin would receive a ten percent deduction from their final grade. As a result, their chances of acceptance are reduced. Those who were stubborn and refused the pin were asked to leave and try again next year.
"All right, everyone, let's not squander any more time." While bringing the participants to another open area, Anselm stated. Although the field had a circle, the circle had a variety of colors. For example, the first layer is green, the second is yellow, and there is a small red dot in the center.
The javelin throwing portion of the exam will come next. This will be focused on strength, while highlighting your technique and/or inventiveness." As he handed out silver javelins to the participants, Anselm declared.
"I'm curious what kind of grades they'll get. However, I believe the examiners are being less subtle. It won't be long until one of them notices. I'll have to slip away and talk to them." Anselm sighed, not wishing to cause any further delays.
Many people began flinging their javelins into the air, but they rarely landed within the circle. Despite the fact that one girl struck red within the circle, numerous boys began rushing to her side. Despite the fact, Dallas didn't appear to be really interested in the girls' achievement.
Dallas tossed his spear into the green, not wanting to garner as much attention as the female did. Despite the fact that his attempt failed and landed under the yellow layer, Dallas signed in regret. Dallas was gone before anyone could congratulate him.
Dallas dug a hole in the earth and remained there until the following test. It's not that he didn't enjoy the attention; it's simply that seeing so many people approach him made him quite uneasy. If they were girls, they'd be delivering compliments, in turn made him feel nervous.
Anselm had returned from his conversation with the concealed examiners. Despite the fact that they didn't seem to stop jotting down scores during their conversation. Anselm believes they simply shrugged him off in haste.
"Alright everyone those who missed having obtained a decrease to their final scoring. Although, those who failed once again are still among you with no added decrease." Anselm spoke within a crude tone, wishing for the exam to be over any minute now.
Anselm guides them into another area of the field. There were many target boards set up. He then summoned several of his troops, along with their bows. This exam will now include precision, accuracy, and technique." Anselm spoke within a fast paste tone, becoming impatient with the groups.
Many people in the groups were annoyed as they sensed this. Given that Anselm had done nothing but point them in the direction of the test. And after saying a few words about it, his voice soon became irritating. Most of them hoped never to see him again, and many were so furious that they dropped out of the exam.
Dallas, on the other hand, grew tiresome. His so-called "future classmates" were all within reach of his one hand. Continue to ignore him, and now became much more unpleasant than Anselm. Dallas couldn't tolerate his first real crowd. He knew such individuals existed, but he didn't expect them to be so brutal.
Nonetheless, Dallas began to assist speed up in the testing procedure, since he did not want to be in a company of such individuals. Dallas proceeded to take his marks as soon as he was provided a bow. He began to assume the ideal places for hitting the targets, no longer caring about people around him. To get a good score, he would shove, stomp, or even brawl.
Many others began to notice Dallas's shift in conduct, but they didn't think much of it. Given that the Knight Academy is the kingdom's sole school and education shareholder. Some are nasty, while others are fair; these are the ways of the kingdom's civilization. A society in which Dallas was soon to join.
When the archery field of conduct ended, Anselm began to take a count of individuals who were still taking part in the exam. The overall number of participants appears to have unexpectedly reduced to 125? "I'll offer an arrangement in which those who want to quit now may do so and attend the academy." Anselm said while shifting away from the groups.
Those that stay may have a better score and, if approved, will be put in a special class. Join me here by my side if you want to depart and ensure your enrolment in the Knights Academy. Those who choose to continue and bear the gamble of an uncertain reward or bummer, stay where you are.
Many began to join Anselm by his side, while many others did not. Anselm went around and took a head count of those who still remained. There were approximately twenty five of those who hadn't joined his side. One of those people being Dallas.
Dallas' only justification for declining Anselm's offer was that he wanted to see what the last exam component had to offer. Anselm was filled with hatred that went beyond indignation; not only did he want to leave and return home, but Dallas was also one of the participant's who humiliated him. "I'll repay the favor, boy!" As he stared at Dallas, Anselm thought over and again.
