Apparitions

We both start walking to school and surprisingly, Chester was nowhere to be found this morning, usually he would just comes out of nowhere. Maybe he has already there, who knows.

It was dark, the only light source is coming from the street lights, but those lights are dim anyway. The both of us didn't bring torch lights but luckily we could use our phones as a flash light. Then, after a long walk, we finally arrived at the academy.

As we were getting closer to our classroom, the atmosphere starts to change, the wind starts getting colder, the presence that I felt before is coming back. Then, I felt my hand being grabbed, luckily it's Chloe's and not something else. She looks terrified, so I let her hold my hand.

As we got closer to the building, I realize that the lights are already turned on. What's weird is that I can't see anyone in there, the classroom was empty. Did someone turned it on for us? or has someone already arrived?

I looked at my watch and the time is 3:55 in the morning, which means we still have five more minutes before class starts, but why isn't anyone here yet?

We were watching our steps carefully as we go nearer, there might be snakes or something more dangerous. I could tell that Chloe is very scared since her grip on my hand gets tighter every second, even I myself who's trying to act brave is getting butterflies in my stomach.

It was time, we reached the classroom door, I pushed it slowly and the next thing I see is guns and combat knifes on all of our desk. Chloe didn't say anything, neither do I, both of us were scared to see weapons on our tables.

Then someone broke the silence, with a greeting, and thank god it was Daniel and not something else. I can't lie, I almost fainted by just a simple greeting. Chloe finally lets go of my hand that she has been clenching tightly the entire time.

"Oh, did I interrupt something?" Daniel asked jokingly.

"This isn't time to make jokes Daniel." Chloe responded.

Then he entered the classroom, and he dropped his books that he was holding, he must be as shocked as we are.

"What's all this?!" He asked in confusion.

"We don't know" I responded to his question.

"Okay why don't we all just go in first" Chloe interrupted.

"Alright then" the both of us answered at the same time.

We each go to our own table.

As I was getting closer to my table, the presence that I felt yesterday felt stronger. I picked up the gun on my table, it was heavy. I have never in my life touched a gun before but even I could tell it was a real gun. Then I proceed to lift the knife, I touched the blade and sure was it very sharp, I bet you could cut someone and leave them with a very deep wound using this knife.

Then, I could see everyone coming trough the door and I could hear a loud scream, well that's to be expected since there are literally real weapons used in fight on our table.

Then, my worst nightmare came, the thing that I saw yesterday, it was at the front door of our classroom. It was moving fast, I could hear screaming, sweats were pouring down my face, my legs went numb, I was frozen there. The thing came closer, there was no escaping it, am I going to die?

Suddenly, I heard a gunshot, it hit the thing and the next second, it was gone, it disappeared out of thin air, the presence I felt was no longer there. I turned my head around a saw it, the gunshot came from none other than the gun that Chester's holding.

He's breathing heavily, his hand is shaking, his whole body is petrified. There was a moment of silence in the classroom, no one was speaking, the air felt tense and the smell of gun powder is filling the classroom. Then, I decided to break the silence.

"Thanks" I said shortly while breathing out.

Chester didn't say anything, his face looked scared yet angry at the same time. Then, we heard a familiar voice, his voice, Robert Williams voice, or should I say the principal's voice.

"Great shot Chester" Mister Williams said without a single hesitation almost like it was normal to compliment someone for using a gun.

Still, no response from Chester nor any of us.

"So, you all must be confused about what that thing that Chester shot right?" He continued.

No one spoke, all of us just nod.

"Those things are what I call apparitions, they are the creatures that have been living in here for decades, they aren't ghost nor humans, they don't have a face nor legs, they move fast, their presence simply is uncomfortable, they are born from negative energies from this town, their existence are a problem, but do not worry, they can be killed with a special gun or knife"

All of us stood there in silence, we were all confused about this thing called apparitions.

"So those guns and knifes that are on each of your tables are specially created to kill apparitions, I could assure you that you will stay safe if you have those weapons with you at all times, and also, from now on, you guys will be killing those creatures from 4 am till 8 am. Good luck" Mister Williams left us his final words and he left the classroom before any of us could say anything.

"Guess we'll be killing monsters from now on" said Chelsea.

"Are you serious right now, we are going to fight those things?" Amy said in an angry tone.

"Well there's no helping it, we are bound to this class and we have no way to escape" Daniel interrupted.

"No matter what it is, the twelve of us sticks together no matter what" Chester continued.

"From now on, our mission will be to survive this classroom" Daniel declared.

So, is this what he means by survive? I guess we really have something big coming for us this year.
