Rumors, Rumors

"ADELREDUS!" I called out to him as soon as I entered his office.

There he was, sitting on his chair. He greeted me with his usual Chester smile.

"Well, someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed."

"You went too far." I said between gritted teeth.

"What do you mean?"

"By all means, play dumb. However, your true colors show as clear as day. You murderer." I spat.

"Woah, calm down. What are you talking about?" Adelredus held his hands up, smirking. The nerve of this man! I could feel my chest squeezing in pain.

"How could you? To an innocent person..." My vision blurred. Before I realized it, tears were flowing from my eyes.  I covered my face with my hands.

"I see. To think you would cry for a man whom you knew for a short period of time. It seems you are not as emotionless as you claim to be." There was vexation in Adelredus' tone, one that added fuel to the burning flame deep in my gut.
