Chapter 3

The attendant ushered us to our table and handed us the menus. The piercing gaze still at the back of my raven-haired head.

After some time the waitress returned to take our order.

"I would like the strawberry milkshake," I smoothly say pointing out the name on the menu considering that my mate's gaze was burning holes at the back of my head.

As soon as the waitress leave my whole body freezes along with Leone's face.

Another reason why am antisocial is that I hate, HATE, when people touch me or get in a 3 feet radius with me. And here comes this strange young girl, out of nowhere and hugs me with a huge grin on her face. But the reason behind Leone's face freezing is because I don't react well with people touching me, I usually end up soccer punching them in the face. I am not a saint, okay.

Lionel's face and mine included, shifts to shook as my 'reaction' is not activated. I stare at the girl who still has her arms around me in horror.

"What?" She innocently asked me. But knowing am not going to answer, Lionel does it for me.

"She doesn't like people touching her or getting close to her, she doesn't react well with it, she almost punched Rain here if wasn't there to stop her," Leone answered sheepishly causing the girl to let go of me and mutter apologies.

"Am sorry!" I nod it off and she proceeds, "am Kilira Silphium, am here with my brother and his beta to escort you to the park house."

As she says that the waitress brings our order and my eyes sparkle at the sight of my strawberry milkshake. Gone were the thoughts of meeting the Alpha and the fact that my mate was here, right now, all I wanted to do is savor the sweet taste of strawberries that were in my milkshake.

"Or we can wait until you are done," Kilira muttered to herself and got up to go back to her previous sit. I followed her with my eyes only for them to travel back to the stunning gray eyes of my mate. My head whips back to face my finished milkshake bottle.

"I get it now," Leone said out loud causing me to shush him but he resorted to leaning in and whisper in my ear, "is Malik's mate here and little Malik doesn't want to say hi, I thought I taught you better than this," he said it like he was a disappointed father.

I look away just as Kilira came back with two males behind her.

"Guys, this is future Beta, Barin and this is my brother, Reagan," Kilira said, there is no turning away from this, I have to face my mate.

"You must be Lionel Greene, Malik Greene, and Rhiannon Khan," Barin said.

"That's us, nice to meet you, we are ready to leave for the packhouse," Leone again said knowing I wasn't going to answer.

"Am surprised Malik is female, the report recorded Malik Greene," the future Beta said.

"She tends to spell her name short," Leone answered.

"Short?" Kilira looked puzzled.

"It's Malaika Greene in full," I reply.

"Okay, right this way." We left our sits and the gray piercing eyes have not left me. Goodness, acting normal is hard.

After exiting the restaurant, I head straight for Lio's Jeep only to be stopped by the most heavenly voice the moon goodness has ever created. "Malaika, you are riding with me."

I turn to Leone for help but the idiot acts as if he does not feel my gaze burning holes into his back, opens the door, waits for Rain, Barin and Kilira to get in his Jeep, and drives off leaving me here with my mate who I still have not said a word to. I take a deep breath before facing Reagan.

His eyes scan my face taking his sweet time to memorize every inch of my face. I just stood there like a statue until he was satisfied and walks closer to me until he was 3 feet away from me.

"Is this distance good for you?" Reagan questioned. But my mind could not interpret what he was saying.

"W-what?" I stupidly said.

"Your brother said you don't like people close to you, is this distance okay with you?" He explained and asked again.

"Oh," I didn't even notice the fact that I don't mind his closeness, "yes it's okay."

"Shall we go?"

"Yeah sure, and just call me Malik, it makes me feel manly," okay I have no idea where this comfortable energy came from.

'he is your mate, you naturally feel comfortable around him,' Sarai said.

"Manly?" The corners of Reagan's lips tug upwards as he opens the door to his car.

"Yeah, I feel like can protect myself and it's a cool name," again with the comfort.

"In that case, you don't need to worry because it's my job to protect you now," he leaves my side after closing my door and goes to the other side of the car.

Reagan tried starting a conversation with me but I answered back with one-word answers only and after the fourth question he realized am not in the mood and drove quietly.

We arrived at the packhouse, Reagan's Jeep was already packed outside. We got out of the car and Reagan ushered me in. The sweet fragrance of strawberries was my welcome gift. I left Reagan's side no longer caring about etiquette with my nose in the air and rushed to find the source of the smell.

I rushed into the dining room and found Leone, Rain, Barin, Kilira, an older gigantic man, and a woman.

"I told you she would rush in at the smell of these berries," Leone said.

The woman handed me a basket with nothing but strawberries inside.

"Welcome to the family dear," she said.

I gave her the biggest, most sincere smile I could form and mumbled 'thank you like a million times.

"No worries dear, am Aiya, the Luna of Silphium pack, but you can just call me Aiya," she smiled back as the gigantic man stood behind her.

"I am Ezra Silphium, the Alpha." He said and stretched his hand out for me the shake.

"Malaika Greene, it's a pleasure," I smiled and gave his hand a strong shake.

"The pleasure is mine, I must admit we were expecting twin brothers, never the less, in two days we will begin your trails, your room-" he stops himself as if he recalled something, "I assume you will stay with Reagan now?" I didn't even get the opportunity to answer as the answer came from behind me.

"Of course Father, Malik is staying with me in my room," Reagan spoke.

"Well then, your luggage will be taken to Reagan's room, we will leave you to your berries." And Alpha Ezra and Luna Aiya left leaving Lionel, Barin, Rain, Kilira, Reagan, and I.
