New Friend?

Jake startled again from his thoughts. Why couldn't I see everything? He asked the system.

[Thought pieces are missing for the rest of the memory]

Jake went over the fight in his mind again and again and again wondered who these two people were and why they wanted to destroy his clan. But he was also a little relieved, as it seemed like he had nothing to do with the murders of his clan.

"Hey are you all right?" Suddenly a boy about his age said to Jake from the side. "You screamed in your sleep, so I just wanted to see if everything was okay with you."

"Yes, everything is okay." Jake answered the boy.

"My name is Vincent, but you can also just call me Vin." Jake was a bit overwhelmed by Vin and he didn't quite know what to think of the pushy boy. He had slightly shorter and straight blond hair and big blue eyes which especially stood out on his face. "Oh, Ok Vin." He said, "And my name is Jake."

Vin and Jake talked to each other the rest of the way, with Vin talking almost all the time. For example, he said that he returned from vacation today and that in two days he will also take the entrance exam for the first magical academy. Jake didn't know that there were such academies where you learn how to handle mana and how to fight beasts. Since he had found out about it, he wanted to go to this school too, there was only one problem: he was terribly weak.

With a new goal in mind and a lot of motivation, Jake got off the shuttle at the airport. Unfortunately he had to say goodbye to Vin because his family picked him up. Jake didn't know what to do, so he picked up his backpack and headed for the exit.

But to his surprise, one person was already waiting for him. He was stopped by a six-foot-tall, muscled man in a black suit who was looking down at Jake from above. He kindly asked Jake to follow him, which brought Jake off course, as he had briefly feared for his life. But it turns out that it was just a still loyal co-worker of his parents who will kindly take him to his new home.

Jake sat in the back of the car and checked his status. Still way too weak. Hey system, how do I actually awaken my ability? Jake wanted to know because Vin had told him about his fire ability and even showed him it.

The system notification appeared, and Jake was excited to see the search results.

[An ability can be awakened from the age of fifteen. This either happens naturally or when in a hurry the ability awakening can also be forced. This requires a lot of mana stones and the necessary knowledge.]

Can you awaken my ability?

[Negative, I am not authorized to perform this action.]

"Oh man." Jake went to check his staus menu, disappointed.

He hadn't finished his Daily Quest yet, but he had time to do that later. As he looked at his status, he noticed that a new point had appeared: ability.

Jake really wanted to awaken his ability, preferably today, but first he needed a way to do it.

He was also still out and about in the car, so he passed the time by looking out the window and watching the city. The airport where Jake arrived was a little further away from the capital, so they first drove on the main road through the wilderness. However, one couldn't expect a monster to suddenly appear and attack you. The road was too well secured for that.

All of the cars drove at incredibly fast speeds without endangering each other, which Jake found really amazing. When he looked out the window, he could see a transparent layer that covered the street and protected it from monsters. He could see the landscape, but as far as he could see there was only meadow to be seen with a few isolated trees. Jake still found this amazing and beautiful, since he only knew stone and metal on his home planet and there were hardly any green places.

They drove through the green wasteland for quite a while without seeing anything interesting. Jake had imagined what humans consider to be the most important planet a little more spectacular.

However, his view changed again quite quickly when they reached the capital. "Young Master Jake, we are now in the capital. That means we'll be home soon. "

They drove under a large archway past the guards into the capital. It was dark for a moment and when the light shone back into the car, Jake was blinded by it. When he was finally able to open his eyes again, he was surprised by a breathtaking sight.

You could see the huge glass skyscrapers in the distance, their true size obscured by the clouds. For Jake it was like he was immersed in a whole new world, because the cityscape that appeared before him was breathtaking. Expensive shuttles flew around between the houses everywhere. Since each building was large and modern, the road network was laid almost entirely underground so that most of the space could be used effectively.

Because of this, they turned into a tunnel and drove towards the city center. The tunnel was huge and there were too many cars in the innumerable lanes for Jake to count. Jake watched the cars that drove past him and he noticed that hardly anyone was behind the wheel or when they didn't have the slightest interest in looking ahead or driving the car.
