Fresh Cecilias

Several days have passed since that incident. The change in Roxus' attitude was clear, and the woman remained mostly silent in the room. She also refused guests and visitors, and only accepted Lucifer into her room other than the servant. Roxus didn't even want to meet her father who had come to visit her.

Rumours began to spread about Ariaster's affair with a commoner. Daisy's name began to be heard widely after many people found out the truth of the rumour. However, until now there has been no announcement regarding the opinion of the Croix Family on this matter. Of course, everyone began to realize from Roxus's attitude, until almost everyone who came to see her was very angry and sad.

Meanwhile, at the Croix residence, the servants stood in front of Roxus' room with their food trays. Roxus did not answer those who asked for entry, nor did they dare to be presumptuous.

Like the previous days, they decided to wait for Lucifer. Before long, Lucifer arrived with brisk strides. In his hand, a bunch of fresh Cecilia Flowers caught everyone's attention. Lucifer's expression looked tired, and the flowers looked fresh. It seems that Lucifer didn't just buy the flowers at the shop, but looked for them himself on horseback into the Windcliff hills. It makes sense because since morning Lucifer has gone somewhere.

Seeing the servants at the door, Lucifer sighed. He smiled softly with an understanding look, and the servants were touched to see Lucifer's arrival.

"Milady," he called softly, then knocked on the door.

No answer.

"Milady, you said you wanted to arrange Windbloom?" said Lucifer.

It's quiet.

The door opened.

The servants could not see their master, from the side of the door, but they saw the meaningful expression Lucifer made. The man smiled but looked sad. "Ahem. How about after eating, Milady come to town with me to buy Asters? I've got a fresh Cecilia for Milady, now it's just the Aster."

The servants understood. Is Windbloom in question a combination of Cecilia and Aster? They never heard of it. There was no voice or answer that Roxus made. But Lucifer immediately glanced at the servants and indicated that they could enter with him. The servants entered, put the food on the table, and looked at the room that was still clean as if Roxus hadn't been in it all this time.

One of the servants who brought the letter for Roxus approached Roxus who was sitting at the dressing table from behind. "Lady, there is a letter from Her Majesty Princess Cecilia," said the maid.

Roxus looked up at him and smiled weakly. "Thank you," she said quietly.

The servant looked sad. Roxus's hand shook as she reached for the letter on the tray, and the other hand grabbed the letter opener knife. But because her hands were trembling and gripping weakly, Roxus accidentally dropped the knife at her feet.

"Milady!" exclaimed the servant, automatically bending down and examining Roxus' feet.

Thanks to the sharp clatter of the knife on the floor, everyone turned their heads. Lucifer, who was filling the water on the wooden tray where he had put the Cecilia Flower he was carrying, quickly knelt before Roxus' scratched leg. The servants couldn't even keep up with Lucifer's fast teleporting movement.

"Love—!" Lucifer sighed. He lifted Roxus's injured right leg and placed it on his thigh. "Please bring some wound ointment and clean cloth to clean it," said Lucifer quietly.

"I am alright,"

"If you're okay, how about you tell me what you talked about with that bastard Ariaster when you met him at the palace the other day?" asked Lucifer quickly.

Roxus is silent.

"Did he ask you to talk to Lord Croix so he would agree to cancel your engagement?" asked Lucifer, accepting a clean, damp cloth and wound ointment from the maid.

Roxus didn't answer anymore.

Lucifer looked frustrated. "Should I go now to challenge him to a duel?"

"Luc—"

"What did he say to you?" asked Lucifer.

Roxus let out a soft breath. "He said we had to make up..."

Lucifer furrowed his brows.

"He said he would send Miss Daisy away and wait until my father calmed down. Only then will he find a way to break our engagement," Roxus continued quietly and dryly.

"Oh, so he changed his mind and wanted you and Daisy to be his wife and concubine?" asked Lucifer, in a low voice, but trembling as if he was harbouring anger.

"Daisy is a beautiful girl. Whatever I do, even if I become his official wife, I won't be loved…" Roxus spoke in a sarcastic tone.

"How about not being his wife at all?" asked Lucifer. "He betrayed you, Milady," he continued.

Roxus smiled. "Of course."

The servants who were cleaning the room while they were allowed in stopped moving at Roxus's words. "I don't want to be mixed up even before getting married," Roxus said, but it didn't sound convincing.

It's quiet.

"So I told Lord Ariaster to get out of my sight until my heart didn't hurt anymore when I looked at him, then I will talk to Father to cancel our engagement," Roxus's words sounded low, but they were so cold and made everyone shudder.

Roxus stared out the window. "Soon the social season will arrive. If that happens, Miss Daisy might come to parties as Lord Ariaster's new partner."

Roxus shook her head sadly. "Not. I don't want to imagine the social season being destroyed just because of that presumptuous woman," Roxus' voice sounded sweet and charming when she said it. "If I send both of them away... maybe when they return, I can receive wedding gifts from both of them."

Lucifer's hand stopped moving. Roxus lifted her feet from Lucifer's lap. "I am 21 years old. It is time for me to seriously look for a future husband. Before this year's social season ends, I'll make sure to get the right husband."

The woman stood up and walked towards the Cecilia flower that Lucifer had brought her. Lucifer is still kneeling where he was before.

"Convey my message to my father. Tonight I will have dinner with him," Roxus said softly.

The servants were speechless. They glanced at Lucifer who was still lowered his head, but then stood up. He turned towards Roxus and smiled sweetly with sad eyes. "I'm glad you got your decision," said Lucifer softly.

Roxus smiled back at the man. A gentle smile with a calming gaze. "Will you have lunch with me here now, Master Luc?"

Lucifer looked away. "Sorry, Milady, I promised Captain Ringard to have lunch with him yesterday," said Lucifer soft but fast.

"Oh," Roxus sounded disappointed. "Then, enjoy your lunch..." Roxus had not finished her words yet, but Lucifer had already bowed his head and walked quickly out.

The servant who was standing near Roxus saw Roxus staring at the Cecilia Flower on the wooden tray filled with water. The woman's face flushed but looked disappointed. "He said he wanted to take me to buy Asters in the town..." she whispered.

She turned to the nearest servant and gave him a brief order. The servant smiled happily and obeyed Roxus's orders.
