"Damn, hic," a man with long brown hair placed his head on the bar table. "Roxe will hate me—she won't want to see my face again," he muttered.
They were sitting at the bar that the Knights of the Croix County in the Capital frequented. "Sir, we're sorry, but it doesn't seem like Lady Roxus will be that mad to you," said a young knight. The other three Knights also nodded quickly.
They are quite close to Lucifer. Of course, Lucifer did it on purpose. He had to build a good reputation in Croix County circles. So, several times, he paid for drinking for the knights who went to the bar. He made sure that he didn't just do it to one knight. He made sure that his goodness was fair to them all.
"Hic—"
The knights didn't understand. Roxus Croix has a bad reputation among the aristocrats, but she is a very kind and generous lord to all of her subordinates. Even so, no one had ever seen Roxus Croix as a woman. To everyone, she was either a noble's daughter or a superior. She is an untouchable existence. A figure who was barely able to be compared to a human, not because of her appearance but because of the atmosphere she gave off.
It was true that they knew that Lady Roxus loved her family very much and expressed it strongly. However, everyone except her family was proud of her as their boss, not as a human or a girl. They knew she was excellent at acting according to the code of ethics and norms, so they were proud of her, who loved her family so much with a sincere heart.
"...Roxus will look at me with those eyes again..." whispered Lucifer. "But it's not bad either even though she looks at me with an angry expression... oh I don't mind, she's pretty," he muttered. The other knights should have felt uncomfortable if a man spoke like that about the Master they were proud of. But it was Lucifer. And he's drunk.
"...I want her to look at me with an angry gaze while she's hitting me, I mean it's cute—" Lucifer said that on purpose.
"Sir, you're drunk right now," said one of the other knights. Their faces all flushed red, though not from alcohol. A man as handsome and strong as Lucifer was attracted to their Master, and made them hear everything he had to say about the other side of her that he loved. It made them realize that Roxus Croix was also a woman.
"Roxe cut her hair because of that damn guy, but now it's easier for me to see her nape," said Lucifer dryly. "Her nape is so white... when she blushed the red reached her nape..." Lucifer silently watched the faces of his friends. "—Shit," said Lucifer, banging his head hard against the table. "I'm drunk now. What I said...very inappropriate. It shouldn't be this way. I will stop."
The other three knights looked disappointed as he stopped. If Lucifer talks about other women, maybe they would ask him to continue his words, but since it was Roxus, they didn't dare. They began to feel, if they met Roxus again, they wouldn't be able to forget Lucifer's words.
"Sir," called one of them. "Are you planning to marry Lady Croix?" he asked.
Lucifer changed his expression. "…Of course, I wish I could marry her. Do you think I have a chance?" he asked.
The knights chuckled. "You have no chance, sir."
"Your honesty pissed me off."
Lucifer stood up but immediately shook to the side. His friends hold his body so that he doesn't fall and then support his quite tall body. Lucifer looked at the floor, feeling a little dizzy. To commemorate, this was the first time he had drunk so much since he became a human.
Cling!
The bar door opened. An out-of-place figure appeared. A tall and slender woman with smooth white skin and a charming little face. The earrings on her ears stood out because her hair was so short it was easy to see when she lowered the hood of her robe. A young woman who was not beautiful but dazzling stood there, staring at Lucifer.
Her presence, her aura so incompatible with the bar atmosphere, made everyone turn to her, and it almost turned the place into silence. The woman was not dressed like how an aristocrat would dress, but from the way she walked and moved, she was a noble lady. Even so, her steps were so careful. Her petite body compared to the males in this place made her look like a rabbit among wolves.
"Lady Roxus..." the knights instantly realized how cute that woman was, how seductive she was, that Roxus was a real young girl.
Lucifer looked up. Roxus was standing before him, looking up at him with guilty eyes. "I'm looking for you everywhere. The maid of the Knight residence said you usually went to the bar... uh... er... " Roxus looked nervous from the gesture of her hand.
"Luci, I'm sorry. I misunderstood you and Ernacht today," the woman tilted her face while looking away. "You're not hurt, are you?"
Several of the knights and servants in the bar remembered Roxus's outburst in the knight's field today. They remembered, could hardly believe the tiny woman in the middle of the bar and the middle of the field today was the same person as the Lady they used to see every day.
Lucifer was able to catch himself in an instant.
"Roxe..." he stood up straight, grabbed Roxus' waist with his long and burly arms, then hugged her gently.
"Luci?" Roxus looked confused. "Are you drunk?" she asked, turning her head at the knights who were looking at the two with combined expressions of awe, shock, and amazement.
Roxus's body sank in Lucifer's arms. Well, Lucifer was a tall man with perfectly formed muscles. "My Love, I thought you hated me," said Lucifer, loud enough to be heard by others who focused on listening.
Roxus blushed red. Her entire face was flushed red so that it stood out in sharp contrast to her pale hair and pure white skin. There wasn't anyone at the bar who saw her who didn't think she looked so cute and bashful. "Forgive me. I-I don't mean to hurt Lord Ernacht—"
"I understand," Roxus cut off Lucifer's words. Her face was still flushed red. "You're drunk right now. Let's go home," she said softly and calmly.
"...I really, really truly love you always, you heard me, right?"
Roxus's face turned red even more so that she looked like she was about to explode. She sighed. Gently, she pushed Lucifer to release his embrace. Lucifer's face blushed and looked desperate. "All right, my friend, Lucius, let's take a walk and buy a cold drink," Roxus said in a warm voice and a shaded cool gaze.
Roxus drew the line between herself and Lucifer, but she didn't seem like she wanted to push Lucifer away. Her warm and gentle voice made everyone think that Roxus wished to pay the same attention to Lucifer as the man was paying attention to her, yet she couldn't, for any reason or another.
They must not forget that Roxus is not an ordinary woman. A forbidden relationship, which is so sweet and suffocating. But as soon as they saw Lucius's face, everyone blinked. The man didn't look sad at all. The man was so happy as soon as she appeared in front of him. It was as if all of his sadness disappeared without a trace.
The man was so happy to be by Roxus's side that everyone thought that was all he needed. He just wanted to be by Roxus' side, even though he can't have her at all. He will be happy even though Roxus is unreachable for him. He will be happy if Roxus is happy. The two of them walked out of the bar.
The voices of chatter started to return, but not as loud as before. Chat voices that seemed to be talking about something that couldn't be discussed out loud. Yes, they are talking about the Lady. She was angry with Lucifer but went alone to this bar to find Lucifer and apologize. She went here, where a Lady shouldn't be, even though she knew this place was unsafe and full of strangers. She went there to find Lucifer, gave him a shy gaze, and brought him home.
"Lady Roxus would make a good wife," said one of the young men at the bar, who had worked at Croix County since childhood.
Another young man who heard that took off his hood and sighed. He sat only inches from the first youth and growled softly. "Of course, Ayunda will be a good wife," said the young man.
Everyone turned towards him and was shocked. "Young Lord Croix?!"
