Checking the Forums

I leave the respawn area now that I know how the consequences of death work. It's definitely late now, and I should get off. I make my way to the space-port, and I enter it. I head towards the starship shop and into the office and backrooms. I enter the apartment I'm being lent. I head for the couch, and I sit down and log off. I exit my gaming pod as I feel my body, and I take a deep breath. I played for a long time, and since I was technically asleep the entire time, I feel very well-rested.

I get out of my gaming pod and stretch my body. My back and knees pop release any tension from lack of movement. I make my way towards my bed and grab my laptop. I turn it on and head to the forums about The Aeternus Universe. I'm going to check if any mail came from Aegis tomorrow after I get back on. Tonight I'm going to learn any new information I can. I start reading posts, and my mind does its thing. Most are discussions about certain mechanics, and discoveries players have made. I am in Newton-14, which has a spaceport.

The players that spawned in cities on Empyrian without a space-port in it are discussing ways to get to the two cities that have them on Empyrian. I wonder how my program is helping the world. I got to one of the top forum sites I posted it on, and it has several billion upvotes and downloads. I look at some of the top comments and see that it's working for everyone. I'm glad I was able to help. Being stuck as an alien would be the worst thing ever. Well, only the weird-looking ones from the game.

I bet millions of female gamers screamed when they saw their alien-like features in the real world. The same goes for guys. I scroll down on the forum and see other posts from some of the top players. They have already made money-making guides, and some are close to buying their first starship. I knew this would happen. The top players from the old games wouldn't slow down in the slightest. They'd still be at the top.

While I have several things working for me now, and I'll probably get a deal for my designs from Aegis, it's still impressive how people could collaborate with each other and find quick and easy ways to make money. I head to The Aeternus Universe official forum thread and see many posts from the devs. Most are just apologizes for what happened. From what I saw when I broke into their systems with my hacks, they had no idea how this happened. It just shows whoever is pulling strings is truly a master at his craft.

I bring my laptop out into the living room and sit down on the couch. I turn on the T.V. with a voice command, and it goes to my favorite channel. I see the man reporting since it's late at night. "The U.N. has decided to fine GBFT inc. 250 billion dollars for property and emotional damages to the human race. While this is a lot of money, it's only about 2% of GBFT inc. stock. So it begs the question. Is this too low a price for the company?" I look at the screen in annoyance, that's a quarter of a trillion dollars, and people don't think it's enough.

I listen to the news and read the forum at the same time. "In other developments. No one has come forward claiming responsibility for the Forum post across all gaming sites that saved the world from the brink of collapse." I think that's a huge exaggeration, but it's the news. I read a post about mech suits and see that it's made by someone who is an actual engineer in real life. I go to his personal page, and he is a professor at MIT. He has engineering problems and math problems posted on his feed.

One of his posts read if one of the questions is solved, they'll get features in journals. My mind works through them all, but before I answer any of them. I do the same anonymous post like last time. People won't know it's the same guy who posted the program, but it might cause some fun confusion as these colleges. I post the answers on the answer thread. He said he deletes any that are wrong. So they are empty. I cover my digital footprint after I'm done, and I close my laptop. I turn back to the T.V. to continue watching the news.
