~~~(POV: Scott Autumn)~~~
I stop shaking Durado's hand, and I do a fist pump as he turns around to pick up Ziller's unconscious body. I notice that I have a new notification from the system, but I'm not looking at it right now.
I have to help Durado drag Ziller's unconscious body off the landing pad and out of the mining site. "Give me a hand, would ya." I quickly rush to the other side of Ziller and grip under his shoulders, and lift. Durado carries him by his legs, and we both make our way towards the stairs. We carefully navigate them, so we don't fall while carrying the heavy son of a bitch.
This entire trip was dropped on me, and while it was unexpected, I'm glad I got to be a part of it. I still have to do a flight test to get my pilot's license back at Newton-14 in 6 hours. So I'm not getting off anytime soon. "I didn't think he'd be so damn heavy!" Durado and I are both struggling with this limp man.
I see a hover cart to the left at the bottom of the stairs. We can use that to haul him once we reach the bottom. I get Durado's attention and tilt my head towards it. He smiles as we both have labored breaths.
We make it to the bottom of the stairs, and we place Ziller on the hover cart. We both take a minute to catch our breath and lean against the cart. "Once we make it to Newton-14, we'll split up... I'll take him to the safe house and interrogate him... Once I'm done with that, I'll come and get you so we can turn his dead body in for the reward..." Durado explains the plan between catching breaths.
This allows me some time to work on Autumn's Fall some more. He interrupted me last time. I nod my head in agreement. After our break, I input the commands for the hover cart to follow Durado.
The beauty of tech in a universe this advanced is amazing. Just a couple of strings of code and commands, and we don't have to push the hover cart. It'll follow who I tell it to follow. We make our way out of the mining site and onto some actual metal roads.
We don't have to run thanks to my heroics of today. Saving an entire planet from being quantum split should be rewarded, but The Aeternus Universe doesn't reward special achievements like that. Which I think is awesome personally. It keeps a balance between the players.
That's not a correct statement because I am as special as I am in The Aeternus Universe. As the very last of The Primordium race, if aliens and people found out about me, then I'd be hunted down. By some organizations, others would try and offer protection.
They might even force it. I see the railway up ahead, and I walk beside Durado as the hover cart floats behind him. This time seems perfect to check the messages I got from the system. I open my player interface and head to my messages. I open the one from the system.
[Congratulations! You are now the apprentice of the Legendary and Iconic bounty hunter Durado!]
[Other games might give you an exp reward or an item for such an achievement, but not The Aeternus Universe!]
[Fair Warning: Once enemies of Durado find out about you, they'll target you to get to him! Durado is a hated enemy of the Selene Galaxy! Be cautious when traveling there!]
[The more time you spend with Durado, the more progress you make towards inheriting a trait from him! Once you have learned everything you can from Durado, you'll no longer be his apprentice!]
[The progress towards the traits will be kept track by the system! You'll be notified once you unlock one, and it'll be added to your list of traits!]
Having a mentor is going to be the main objective of many players. The chances of another player having a legendary mentor are below 1 percent right now. That'll change once players begin to explore more and more, but as of now. I'm the best off.
We enter the train that heading for Newton-14 and now that I've done all this, I do feel very hungry. Players need to sustain themselves with food in The Aeternus Universe after all. You aren't notified when your food and water levels get low, it's up to interpreting the feelings you get in the game.
