Space was used quite frequently lately, and the changes were big. It was a stretch of mountains instead of a lonely peak in the distance. At the end of the creek, it was a large lake. Expanses of meadows were on both sides of the lake where all the animals that Yun Che kept foraged and roamed. From time to time, birds would skim over the surface of the lake, making Space livelier.
After taking a walk around Space, Yun Che still couldn't see Heiyu. Once again, Yun Che harvested the vegetables and sowed more new seeds. The ears of rice and wheat that he planted at first were so heavy that they hung in midair. The grains should be able to be harvested a couple of days later. Yun Che altered Space again, creating more farmlands for rice and wheat to grow. People needed staple food to fill up their bellies.
In the end, he went to check the saplings in his orchard at the foot of the mountain. They were growing well but no fruits available at the moment yet.
"Cheng, our house is all good. We'll have a housewarming party today. Tomorrow, I'll take you to see our sister. But promise me you'll be good outside. No rampage, okay?"
After the chores, Yun Che clipped his brother's fingernails as he spoke. The plan of taking Yun Cheng out still kind of worried Yun Che. After all, the craving for flesh and blood was zombie's natural instinct. Although Yun Cheng was calm when facing Yun Che now, no one could be so sure that he wouldn't try to bite someone who was bleeding. Nothing was certain, that was why Yun Che put a grille and a security door between the third and the fourth floor like the security measures in jail.
"Done. Your nails will need to be clipped on a daily basis. Yes, you're a zombie, but you're a tidy, clean zombie."
After clipping his nails, Yun Che got a basin of water to clean Yun Cheng very carefully. What he didn't know was just because of what he was doing right now, Yun Cheng would become the one and only clean-freak zombie in the world.
"I wonder if you can take a bath in the Jade Spring."
The idea suddenly hit Yun Che when he was ready to change Yun Cheng's clothes after combing his hair and cleaning his face. Many years of constant droplets formed the Jade Spring, drinking the spring water while bathing in it could cleanse one's blood and bone. Would it be possible to detoxify Cheng by putting him in it and feeding him with the water? It was quite unlikely for him to return to human but at least it could replenish his energy and purify his body and boost his recovery.
"Come on, I'll take you to a bath. You haven't had a bath for a month, stinky."
Upon coming up with the very idea, Yun Che teleported himself and his brother to the Jade Spring in a split second. He would occasionally come to take a bath so the surrounding of the spring wasn't barren. He had turned it into a basic bath pool. There were even bath lockers on the side of it. It would be an actual bath pool if there were showerheads.
What surprised Yun Che more was that Yun Cheng didn't make any noise without getting crystal nuclei. He just stood there quietly, blankly watching Yun Che remove his clothes with his bloodshot, lost eyes.
"Alright, let's get in there together. We haven't had a bath together for ages. Remember when we were little, we'd splash a lot of water out of the bathtub and Yao would get so mad?"
Totally naked, Yun Cheng's body was as snow-white as his face. After eyeballing him, Yun Che removed his own clothes and plunge into the water with his brother in his arms.
Splosh!
As the water splashed, Yun Cheng involuntarily closed his eyes. Having seen him behave normally, Yun Che took him to the rim of the pool. With one hand holding his waist in case he drowned, Yun Che grabbed a bottle of water with another hand and unscrewed the lid with his teeth. "Come on, Cheng, take a sip. It tastes good and it's nourishing."
Yun Che used the same tone when he coaxed Chenchen. Despite the appearance, Yun Cheng was pretty much the same as Chenchen.
Yun Cheng didn't cooperate at first because he only ate crystal nuclei but nothing else, but with Yun Che's persistent attempt, Yun Cheng finally bit the mouth of the bottle with his teeth. Yun Che immediately held the bottle upside down.
Gulp, gulp. Roaaar!
When the undiluted spring water slipped through Yun Cheng's throat, he suddenly rampaged. Yun Cheng pushed Yun Che aside, floundering in water while roaring. His red eyes became lurid. Even his tusks stuck out.
"Cheng…"
"Master, no!"
Yun Che yelled at Yun Cheng, intending to swim to him. Out of nowhere, Heiyu jumped into the spring and stopped Yun Che in the nick of time.
"Heiyu?!"
Yun Che, in an impetuous state, was stunned. He didn't expect Heiyu to show up. Looking blankly at his enormous, fully-recovered body, Yun Che was astounded. Was he OK at the moment?
During the brief pause, Yun Cheng, rampageous and floundering, was sinking. As soon as Yun Che came to himself, he re-dove into the water. Heiyu reached out his claws to stop him. "Master, can you stop acting rashly? Yun Cheng is a zombie, he doesn't need to breathe. Let the spring submerge him so that he can get purified."
Heiyu couldn't help but think his master became sillier. It looked like the responsibility of training his master's brain fell on him.
"But Cheng…"
Ignoring Heiyu's mock, Yun Che's full attention was on Yun Cheng. Even though Yun Cheng had sunk to the bottom, the water was still uneasy. Clearly, Yun Cheng was still wiggling.
"Jeez, you're stupid, and your memory gets bad. Remember your first time in the spring? You were acting exactly the same as Yun Cheng, right? The water is detoxifying. Yun Che's body is full of zombie virus, he's bound to rampage. Don't worry, I assure you he's fine. He might even surprise you after the bath."
Heiyu liked to roast his master the most, but when an explanation was needed, he'd become serious.
"Oh, good. I thought…"
Upon learning that Yun Cheng would be okay, Yun Che calmed down. He turned to Heiyu and asked, "Why do you stop hiding from me?"
He thought he was going to hide away from him forever.
"I-I didn't hide! I was cultivating in the mountains."
Heiyu stuttered. He leaped ashore, shaking the water off its black coat. His gigantic body shrank. In fact, he wasn't fully recovered yet. Hadn't he seen his master was about to do something stupid, he wouldn't have rushed out of the shadow.
"What's up with that day? You're a divine beast, how can your signature shot backfire? Don't tell me that you weren't used to the environment. Be serious."
After taking one last look at the bottom of the spring, Yun Che swam ashore and put on a bathrobe. That day, he was devastated. Even when he thought about it now, it still unsettled him. To him, Heiyu was more of an important friend and family than a contracted divine beast no matter how undependable he was. He just couldn't bear to helplessly watch him fall again.
"What else would it be? I wasn't used to the environment. That was it."
Back to the puppy form, Heiyu lay on the lockers. He sounded tired. "I don't belong to your world and the serried array of confinement envelopes the earth. Don't ask me who set the array because I don't have a clue, either. The earth was millions of years old, maybe there once were some mighty cultivators or divine beasts that you don't know of. They might have decided to leave this planet for some reason and before they left, they didn't want cultivators from other worlds to come to destroy the Earth, so they set the strong array of confinement here. Or maybe they were all dead, so before they died, they set the array. That's why apart from brute force, I can't use other forms of my power out there. If I did, I'd have to fight against the array. I was lucky enough that I didn't crumble to dust. You tell me what it was if it wasn't the environment."
When Yun Che unwittingly opened Space, Heiyu received most of the information about the Earth. This was why he knew so much about humans from the start. Otherwise, how could a divine beast that stayed in Space for millions of years learn all the information? As for the intangible array around the Earth, he did try to break it but first of all, such a massive, complicated array must have more than one array hole and the holes were hard to find. Secondly, since those people chose to set the array of confinement at all cost, it meant there must have been strong external threats. What if gruesome monsters got attracted to the Earth once the array was invalidated? Master Yun Che would skin him for sure.
"Ever since I knew you, my world has become a fantasy world."
It took Yun Che quite a while to process what Heiyu just said. He then sighed, "Perhaps there were other civilizations or species that once ruled the Earth, but that was the past and it doesn't affect us. So all you can do out there is fight with your physical strength?"
Yun Che didn't care whether Heiyu was right or not, all he cared about at the moment was the people or things that were related to himself. He didn't worry about Heiyu, though. He was so physically strong that he was practically a mountain of muscle. As long as he avoided the same problem as the last time, no one could mess with him out there. Worst case scenario, he could always escape. He was shameless anyway, when it came to a point where he had to escape, he wouldn't hesitate.
"Yeah, my life got more difficult, too."
Heiyu looked up at him with an aggrieved look on the face.
Was this another trap that he was setting?
Knowing all about Heiyu's little tricks, Yun Che curved his lips. He suddenly stood up and swung his arms. "The weather is good today. Uh, I assume Cheng won't be out of the water for the time being. I'll go get some fish and games for our housewarming party tonight."
Yun Che put on his sports suit and was ready to head into the mountains.
"Come on, master. First, you should comfort me, and then promise me that you'll protect me and get me more energy bars, and love and care me more. Aren't these what you supposed to do? You know what? Let's start over, you must comfort my broken heart very, very gently."
Holding Yun Che's leg tightly with his four paws, Heiyu whined and protested. Yun Che's facial muscle twitched upon hearing the cheesy request. No matter for how long he went missing, he was still a jerk. Yun Che decided he didn't have time for this stupid stuff. More importantly, he remembered that he had repeated over and over again that he would never do bestiality. The hell with "love and care me more"! Did Yun Che look like a kinky pervert?
