"Why are you so surprised by the fact that I'm a triple-attribute?"
Yun Che clearly had something to say about it but Xing Feng just laughed it off. He reached out his hand, trying to touch Yun Che's bald head. It felt so good, he was kind of addicted to touching it.
"Duh. Dual-attribute is strong enough. You're a level-3 triple superfunction possessor. You'll make so many people doubt their own worth."
Warding off Xing Feng's flirtatious hand in a sulk, Yun Che said with an eye-roll. At the moment, the highest level a single-attribute superfunction possessor could get was level 3. Xing Feng was a triple level-3, and he would still be in the lead moving forward. The guy was a monster!
"Remind you, Che, that you're also a triple level-3 and I think you have more potential than our chief does."
Gu Mingxuan, sitting opposite Yun Che, couldn't help but remind him with a chuckle. Yang Huaien and Xing Feng, too, were amused. Yun Che had to suck it up. Everybody saw him as a triple level-3 yet he couldn't deny. Well, keeping a secret came with a price.
"So you just hypnotized them one by one?"
Having had enough of this topic, Yun Che tactfully went back to the previous one. Xing Feng nodded. "Sort of, yeah. And I gave them a little hint by the way. Also, I told them about the mutated tree so I guess soon, the base will be out of greens. I'll have Haoling send the research equipment to them. I was told that they suffered a great loss, most of the researchers can't do their jobs anymore."
"Whatever. As long as they don't mess with me. I gave them a break on your account last time, I won't let it slide the next time."
Yun Che leaned back with a pout. Clearly, he didn't want to talk about the lab anymore. He never liked this institute.
"I heard you were going to move in today? Won't you take me for a tour?"
Having sensed that Yun Che didn't want the conversation to keep going, Xing Feng didn't push. He looked around the living room. Overall, it was standard and average, but compared to their house, this one felt more like home. The decoration of some small corners was cute and sweet because the ladies had been taking care of the place. But everyone could discern that he just wanted to visit Yun Che's room.
"Come on then. I do have something to discuss with you. Gu, Yang, please keep an eye on Chenchen for me for a little while."
After holding Xing Feng's hand without hesitation, Yun Che didn't forget to assign the task before he left. Chenchen now was happily playing with the little fox in an armchair.
"No problem. You take your time. We'll look after Chenchen."
Gu Mingxuan and Yang Huaien looked at each other when they both put on a snickering face. They both cheered secretly inside. Finally, no more show-off of love.
Having expected them to say so, Yun Che said nothing in return. He just took Xing Feng straight upstairs. A flicker of doubt flashed in Xing Feng's eyes when he saw the grilles and the security door between the third and fourth floor, but he didn't ask. He just held Yun Che's hand tighter, following his lead into the room.
Yun Che's room was plain. He got a bed, a wardrobe, a computer desk, a couch, a set of bedside tables that each had a simple lamp on it. Obviously, Yun Yao designed the room for Yun Che because he'd basically need nothing else but a bed. He'd rather sleep in Space every night.
"You miss me?"
After entering the room, Xing Feng locked the door. Across Yun Che waist, Xing Feng held him from behind, laying his chin in the hollow of Yun Che's shoulder. When he asked him the question, he planted a kiss on his bare neck.
"Do you want to hear the truth or sweet talk?"
Turning around in Xing Feng's arms, Yun Che placed his hands on Xing Feng's shoulders with a playful look on his face. Xing Feng lowered his head, so their foreheads were against one another. He asked him back with a smile, "What's the truth and what's the sweet talk?"
He wanted both.
"Ha."
Yun Che smiled back. He thought Xing Feng would say so. "The truth is, I was busy and so were you, I didn't have time to miss you. Do you honestly take me for a clingy teenage girl? As for the sweet talk…"
Yun Che impishly stopped to tantalize Xing Feng. He stood on his toe tips, sticking his naughty tongue out to lick Xing Feng's auricle. He then uttered the seductive words, "Yes, I miss you. I miss you so much I didn't even eat. If you didn't come back today, I wouldn't have gone to Mo Army to find you. Is this sweet enough for you?"
This was pretty much as sweet as he could get unless one day, he got crazy and acted like the female protagonist of a love novel.
"Haha, it must be hard for you. I hope the truth will be sweeter the next time."
Knowing exactly what kind of a person Yun Che was, Xing Feng giggled while holding him by the waist.
"Yeah, it is hard. I've even got goose bumps. Honestly, I have to admit that Jiang Shang is really good at this. He doesn't talk much but he can be telling Ye Xingchen how much he loves him all day and all night long. It's just saccharine. Are all writers this romantic?"
To add authenticity to his words, Yun Che shuddered as he spoke, putting a grimace on his face.
"Love is saccharine when it's strong. You just don't love me enough."
Xing Feng, however, was cool. Yun Che flinched and pushed him aside. "Come off it. Since when have you been so philosophic?"
Didn't know where he learned the quote.
"Not philosophic. It's my true feeling."
Xing Feng followed him to sit on the couch. He pulled him into his arms. In fact, he was too busy to miss him as well in the last couple of days. Every day, he used up superfunction during the day and recovered by night. He barely had free time to think about other stuff because his mind was filled with lots of information. But as he held Yun Che in his arms now, Xing Feng realized even though his mind didn't have spare space for Yun Che, his body still missed him very much. They were separated right after they got started, they didn't even speak on the phone.
"Don't you want to know why I had to kill Han Mingzhe?"
Yun Che lay down, using Xing Feng's lap as a pillow. He wanted to tell him this when they got back but before they got some alone time, Mo Wenyang called Xing Feng for help.
"Actually, I'm more interested in the reason why you kept the heart of the tree that day. The heart of a tree was like a zombie's crystal nucleus, right?"
With one hand holding Yun Che's hand and another stroking his head, Xing Feng looked down at him. About Han Mingzhe, well, he assumed Han Mingzhe must have offended him very badly. The thing Han Mingzhe had done to Yun Che must have hurt Yun Che or even scarred him. Now that Han Mingzhe was dead, the scar started to heal, he thought it was unnecessary for him to tear the wound again.
"I once trusted him a lot and thought I liked him. Later, I thought about it, that wasn't like, I was just alone in the world for too long. I just wanted company. But in the end, he conspired with someone else to put me and Chenchen on the dissection table."
But Yun Che seemed to have ignored his question and concern. He still started talking about Han Mingzhe. Xing Feng wasn't stupid. What Yun Che said clearly didn't match the fact. But he didn't say anything. He knew Yun Che had many secrets and was willing to wait for him to tell him one by one. They got a whole lifetime ahead of them, right?
"Ugh, you're so bad at conversations. Can't you ask me back? Like, when did he send me and Chenchen on the dissection table? Or why did I live alone in the world for so long? I mean, aren't you curious?"
Yun Che, immersed in memory, realized that Xing Feng didn't even have any questions to ask. Perhaps he knew what he was thinking. Yun Che raised his hand to touch Xing Feng's face. He'd been debating with himself whether or not he should tell Xing Feng the biggest secret of his. At first, he intended to make up an explanation about the hate between him and Han Mingzhe because he was dead, no one was actually going to verify Yun Che's words. Yet when he decided to talk about it, Yun Che chose to tell the truth, although it was a bit shortened. Perhaps Yun Che just had enough trust in Xing Feng, the trust that had been there from the previous life to this one.
"I am, but if it'll agonize you, I prefer not to put you through this again. Let's just put it behind us. Just live in the present and focus on the future."
Yun Che's dark eyes were full of seriousness. He was a little lost but his heart was filled with warmth. "Yes, that's the past. But I'll still have my revenge. I can't pretend nothing happened, can I?"
"Sure. I just don't want you to keep recalling those things just because you don't want to keep them from me. Again, I agree with you, you must have your revenge. It's a different issue. Just let me know if you need me. You know I'll do anything for you. Don't shoulder all the burdens on your own."
Taking Yun Che's hand, Xing Feng looked him in his eyes. He liked the fact that Che was a retaliative person. If a man could easily forgive and forget the guy who murdered him, then he was a wussy. Forbearance was the last thing his boy would need. Yun Che could do whatever he wanted, kill whoever he wanted and Xing Feng would always back him up.
"Remind you, once I'm spoiled, your life isn't going to be easy."
Yun Che chuckled. He rolled over, burying his head into Xing Feng's crotch while holding his waist. Xing Feng was his Mr. Right and he would never ever fail him. They genuinely loved each other.
"If only you were."
Leaning on the couch, Xing Feng also laughed with joy. After a while, Yun Che suddenly got up, sitting legs crossed oppose him. "I assume you're curious about one thing, which is where my twin brother Yun Cheng is. If I tell you he's in my Space, will you believe me?"
This was what he took him upstairs for. Yun Che and Xing Feng would only get closer and closer, it would be unlikely to hide it from him, so he decided to tell him as early as possible.
"Is he dead?"
Only a dead person could be stored in Space like some sort of an item. Xing Feng knitted his eyebrows as he instantly realized it wasn't right. If Yun Cheng was dead, why would Yun Che mention him? Or perhaps Yun Cheng was still alive? But as a fellow space superfunction possessor, Xing Feng knew better than anyone that no living thing could be stored in Space.
Either way, Xing Feng always believed every word that Yun Che said. He just had a little question about the part that didn't make sense.
Yun Che shook his head. "No, he's not dead, but he's not quite alive."
"You mean, he's a zombie?"
Xing Feng, clever and incisive as always, almost immediately figured it out. Also, he remembered that he decided to make Zhan Tianlong infected with the zombie virus back in Longyang Base. If his brother did have become a zombie and been stored in Space, then the source of the zombie virus could be explained. But how could a zombie be put in Space?
As he wondered, Yun Che looked him in the eyes solemnly and gave him a nod as confirmation.
