Family Reunion & Yun Cheng Came Out!

"Yun Cheng, Che's twin brother. He… He…"

Zhan Yafei explained in a low voice but she wasn't able to speak out the fact that Yun Che had become a zombie. Although she never saw him with her own eyes, judging from Leng Yehan's reaction and the sad look on Lu Haixuan's face when he occasionally brought him up, she could tell how distressed they were. Zhan Yafei hugged her mother, crying with her head burying in the hollow of her mother's shoulder. Tears wetted her eyelashes.

"Cheng called me brother today."

On the other side, looking Leng Yehan in his hopeful and excited eyes, Yun Che repeated what he said word by word with Chenchen in his arms. Leng Yehan tightened the grip on Yun Che's arms. It was painful but Yun Che didn't make a sound. He didn't even frown. Yun Che empathized with Leng Yehan.

After taking a few deep breaths with his eyes closed, Leng Yehan forced himself to calm down. When he reopened his eyes, his intense clench loosened. "Is-Is he normal now?"

"No, he's still a zombie but not the same zombie that you saw back then. He is now evolving rapidly. He's like a newborn infant at the moment, learning everything from scratch."

The truth was a heavy blow but Yun Che didn't mean to hide it at all. It would just be more devastating for the guys to see the flicker of hope crumble with their own eyes.

"This is the best result we can possibly get."

Leng Yehan slowly got off of Yun Che and flopped on the couch. Yes, he was disappointed but the result wasn't that much of a surprise. At least Cheng was still alive, which meant Leng Yehan got to hear him speak someday, right?

"It's OK. I can help him recollect what he's forgotten. I can get everything that he's lost back for him piece by piece. If he needs to re-study everything, we'll teach him. Let's start over. It's not a big deal."

Another Yun Cheng's closest friend, Lu Haixuan consoled Leng Yehan by putting his hand on his shoulder. They both thought he was doomed but when Che arrived, he became dumb and goofy. And then, even though they hoped for the best, deep down, they were still unsure. Today, Che had confirmed that Cheng was able to speak, it was probably the best news up to this point.

"Haixuan is right. Che, Yehan, Yao, as long as we don't give up, one day, Yun Che will become normal again. We're still young, we've still got time."

Surprisingly, Zhou Zeyu didn't ruin the moment. Because he knew better than everybody how important Yun Cheng was to these people.

"Yes. Yao, Che, Yehan, we are a family. Yun Che is part of the family as well. Let's work together for a bright future."

Looking up at the guys, Zhan Yafei's eyes got teary, too. Ye Xingchen had pretty much figured it all out. He walked up to them with Jiang Shang. "We're here for him, too. We don't quite understand what exactly happened but Yafei is right. We are a family. We'll face all the adversities ahead of us together."

"Yes. Us together."

Even Jiang Shang nodded along. Everyone's heart was attached to each other in this family.

"Mom, uncle…"

Chenchen was too young to understand what they were talking about, but he was a sensitive boy, he knew how to read faces now that he was turning 3 years old. He put on a grim face when seeing the low-spirited look on everyone's face.

"Chenchen, it's OK. Uncle Cheng is coming back. I'm happy for him. Really."

Looking at her son's worried little face, Yun Yao wept with a smile after a long blank. They were all right. Cheng being able to speak was the best possible result. They still got a whole life ahead of them. They got time to help him recover. There was no need to be hasty.

"Mom…"

Chenchen plunged into his mom's arms, whimpering together with her. For the first time, no one tried to stop them. Everybody knew that Yun Yao needed to let it out.

"The thing is, I've got a twin brother whose name is Yun Cheng. Because of my failure to rescue him in time, he turned into a zombie. However, I still don't want to give up. He's been living in my Space for all this time. Most of the crystal nuclei that we collected were consumed by him. After another evolution, he looks like an ordinary guy right now, so I'm going to let him out. If anyone of you is afraid of him, it's okay, you can tell me now. I won't give you a hard time. I'll give you enough supplies to sustain your survival in a short period of time after you leave."

After all, some people here still didn't know the full story. Yun Che had decided to tell them the truth before letting Yun Cheng out. If they could accept him, then they'd remain as a family. If not, he'd break off with them instead of his brother. Call him selfish or heartless, but this was Yun Che's second life, all he cared more than anything were his sister, brother, and nephew. For them, he wouldn't hesitate to give up anything.

"You're the Chief of Peak Squad. Just tell us what you're gonna do. You don't need our opinions. Che, we only know each other for a short time but I really like this family and I care about everybody in this family. Yun Cheng is your brother and he's our brother as well despite the fact that he's a zombie." Said Ye Xingchen calmly.

He had already figured out 90% of the story. Jiang Shang held his hand in silence. Together, they looked at Yun Che to show how determined they were.

"Right. You don't need to be like this, Che. If it weren't for you, Feifei, your uncle and I would have been dead. Since my family is intact, why can't your family be? I'm a woman, I was spoiled by my parents before I got married and after I became a wife, I was still spoiled by my husband. I didn't see much in my life so I'm far from eloquent. But we're a family and being a family, we face happiness and sadness together. Don't worry, Che, I'll help Yao look after Cheng in the future. I'll make sure he doesn't feel like he's different."

After making eye contact with her husband, Wang Suhua held his hand and turned to Yun Che. They were like the father and mother in this family and no parent would loathe their kids.

"We're obviously with you. Listen, Che, you can never get rid of me."

Their friendship began when Zhou Zeyu cheekily got into the backseat of Yun Che's car. From that moment, Zhou Zeyu had decided to stick with Yun Che for the rest of his life.

Leng Yehan and Lu Haixuan didn't say anything but they were the closet ones to Yun Cheng next to Yun Che and Yun Yao. They didn't even need to make an announcement about their decision. Having scanned everyone, Yun Che's lips curved into a mile. "OK then. Please take care of Cheng moving forward, you guys. Zeyu, close the door. We'll get him out."

"OK."

Zhou Zeyu got up from the couch and ran out. He was back in less than a minute.

"Ready?"

Yun Che double-checked with everybody. They all gave him an affirmative nod while holding their breaths. Yun Che waved his hand, a slim figure popped into everyone's field of vision. The white outfit made him look slimmer. He had the same facial features as Yun Che's, but his eyeballs were red like glowing glass beads. His skin was paler. It was so smooth that the pores were invisible. The shining, tempting gloss on his lips was brighter as if he had applied the reddest lipstick. No-one would take him for a zombie if they weren't given a heads-up. From his appearance, he looked just like a normal human being with red lips, white teeth and a fine countenance.

"C-Cheng…"

After putting her son on the couch, Yun Yao rushed to Yun Cheng with teary eyes, trying to touch his face with her shaking right hand. But Yun Cheng dodged. He then opened his arms to hug Yun Che. Tears overflew Yun Yao's eyes. She thought she was mentally prepared but when she saw the strangeness and refusal in her little brother's eyes, her heart still hurt as if it was going to stop beating anytime. The three of them used to be so close that they could give up anything for each other but now…

The more Yun Yao thought, the more tears she shed. Zhan Yafei walked up to her and wrapped her arms around Yun Yao's shoulder. Yun Che put his brother's hand on his sister's. "Cheng, she is our sister, our closest person. Call her sister from now on, got it?" He said.

He knew his sister was distressed because he had been through the same distress countless times, but it couldn't be helped. Again, Yun Cheng was now standing right in front of them, which was the best possible result.

"Sister?"

This time, Yun Cheng didn't withdraw his hand, he just looked at Yun Che in confusion. Yun Che gave him an encouraging look. "Yes, sister. Just like brother. She is also an important family of yours. You can't reject her again, Cheng, got it? Or else she'll be sad. Aren't you sad when you see your sister in tears?"

As Yun Che spoke, Yun Cheng turned his pair of crimson eyes to look at those eager eyes on that teary face. Suddenly, he had some sort of a flashback in his mind, though Yun Cheng could neither understand nor catch it. His dashing eyebrows knitted as a flicker of wit flashed in his eyes as if he was pondering. But soon, he returned to calmness. As his scarlet lips unsealed, he mumbled, "Sister."

Yun Che and the other guys were watching every little move of his very closely and they were disappointed as soon as they heard him. They caught something unusual happening on him but pitifully, the miracle that they expected didn't occur.

"Yes. Cheng, my dear Cheng."

Yun Yao, however, was happy enough to hear her brother call her sister again. She hugged him tightly in floods of tears of joy.

"Brother."

Feeling uncomfortable about the physical contact with her, Yun Cheng reached out his hand toward Yun Che for help. Yun Che just held his hand. He didn't say anything or help him. Yun Cheng had just gotten out of Space, it was normal that he couldn't get used to all these people so soon. He'd get used to everybody like everybody would get used to him over time.

"Uncle Cheng."

Chenchen unexpectedly pulled the hem of Yun Cheng's shirt, looking eagerly up at him. He still remembered Uncle Cheng because his two uncles looked very much alike. Although he hadn't seen Uncle Cheng for a long time, he could still remember how much Uncle Cheng loved him. It was just he looked a bit different now, Chenchen didn't dare to jump into his arms like he would do to Uncle Che. He just looked up at him with his yearning eyes, hoping that Uncle Cheng would hug and kiss him like he used to do.

"Uncle Cheng?"

Looking down at the little baby, Yun Cheng once again turned to Yun Che for help because he understood nothing. Yun Che just picked Chenchen up and put him into Cheng's arms. "He is Chenchen, our sister's son, our nephew. He's cute, isn't he? We'll love and take care of him together."

"Yes."

"Waaaah! Uncle Cheng!"

Yun Cheng immediately nodded with a smile this time. Chenchen, however, burst out crying as he hugged Cheng's neck. He thought Uncle Cheng hadn't changed a bit.
