Yun Che’s Suggestion to Win Ballots!

Finally, the superfunction possessors were taken seriously!

In the doomsday, the dominant power in the world was the superfunction possessors, everybody knew about that, but because the doomsday hadn't lasted that long, the military who controlled weapons and the government that used to own the political powers still had strong influences on many things. The superfunction possessors weren't united, and this ununited community was like a tiger in a slumber that had no threat to the authorities. However, Yun Che, who got the mighty Chaoyang back him up, had aroused the snoring tiger. While the authorities were infuriated, they had to take their opinion seriously.

After the long, repetitious discussion between the three armies and the government, the election for Chairman of Superfunction Association would be hosted by the government ten days later. Every superfunction possessors had the right to vote, military or government guys were excluded. In the first two days, people kept things under the radar until Chen Hua, Lei Dashan worked with the top-20 captains and the individual superfunction possessors whom they were close to to run a clamorous campaign, encouraging everybody to vote for Mo Wenyang. Wang and Wei decided they couldn't sit around and do nothing anymore. The three squads under their command had to get on the move, lobbying as many voters as possible.

All of a sudden, Section C and D were like supermarkets. Superfunction possessors gathered together for this major event. Right after a group of Wang Army lobbyists left, Wei Army ones followed. However, Mo Army didn't send anyone. Even Joy Squad hunkered down for the time being. Most superfunction possessors were confused about their actions. The clever ones, however, snickered at Wei and Wang Army and their hustle-bustle.

"Captain Chen, should we send a message to Captain Yun that Wei and Wang have been pressing hard. Wang Army says that anyone votes for them can get 5 kilograms of rice and will have Overlord Flower as their quest mate. Those poor girls, they had my respect at first. They're independent and hardworking girls like Zhan Yafei, but…"

The rebuilding of Superfunction Association was ongoing. Without quests to do, Lei Dashan and Chen Hua had been together all these days. They'd been busting their asses to make sure that Mo Wenyang would win the chairmanship. On the one hand, they'd been guiding the public opinion, on the other hand, they were to have their squad members to advertise the incompetence of the other two armies and the government. In fact, it had been more exhausting than doing quests.

Lei Dashan actually felt bad for Overlord Flower girls. There used to be many strong women before the doomsday, but only a handful of women had earned their places in the doomsday. The only one that stood out in the base was Zhan Yafei. It was said that Chaoyang had an all-girl squad as well, but apparently, they hadn't achieved anything yet. Overlord Flower could have been a mainstay all-girl squad, but now they seemed to be wasted by the guys pulling the string. It was indeed unfortunate.

"It's their own choice, it won't make a difference no matter how we feel. They don't deserve our sympathy since they have chosen to take orders from the army. It seems Wang and Wei Army still haven't figured out the situation. Yes, the rice can be appealing to average people, but to superfunction squads and individual superfunction possessors, that was but a trifle. Men do enjoy watching pretty girls who can fight zombies, but who would want a tough shrew as his wife? More importantly, in the doomsday, survival is, above all, the No. 1 priority, everything else is after that."

Chen Hua was a logical person. As the captain of hundreds of people, an analytical mind was a must. That was why he was more insightful and incisive than others. In order for Wei and Wang to win, they would have to bring Chaoyang and Peak down first. If they couldn't, Mo Wenyang was gonna win the election for sure.

"Yeah. All the pretty girls out there can't beat your good old home gal."

As a married man, Lei Dashan made his remark. Before the doomsday, some dudes would spend some money to have fun outside, but their love was still for their wives. And here in the doomsday, most men had already realized the only women that would stay by their side or were willing to die for them were their wives.

"Hehe, Mrs. Lei surely knows how to discipline her old man."

Lei Dashan talked back as soon as he heard this. "Mrs. Chen often gives you a hard time, too, right?"

"Haha!"

They both laughed it off. Even if that was the case, it was because their wives loved them rather than being abusive.

"Oh, have you shared the information with other captains? Although it looks like we're gonna win this, let's just take precautions, OK? We wouldn't face Yun Che if Wei or Wang took the chairmanship."

After the joke, Lei Dashan returned to the serious attitude. Yun Che had someone give him a big, fat boar and many toys for kids in secret the other day. It would be embarrassing if he screwed things up.

Chen Hua reassured Lei Dashan and took a sip of the tea. The way Yun Che bought people off would never make them feel uncomfortable or disrespected, however, Wei and Wang Army were… Well, they just treated superfunction possessors like disposable cheap items, which was really repulsive.

Back in Chaoyang Community

After days of hard work, the renovation was done. As Yun Che designed, on the two sides of the front yard stood two 6-cubicle sheds carpeted with straw mats. Every cubicle was about 10 square meters large, but equipped with mangers and every other necessity. As soon as the shed was built, Chenchen picked one room for Xiaobai, and had been playing with Xiaobai and Heiyu until dinner time. When Yun Che went to him, there were all kinds of toys and snacks on the mat as if they were in his playroom. Chenchen was naughty and cute as always.

All the vegetables that used to grow in the balconies on the second, third, fourth floor in Yun Che's house were reaped and sent to the canteen. Zhan Yafei collected the soil, Meng Xu relocated the soil in the lanes between the houses. Ye Xingchen had the balcony on the second floor converted into a real playroom. They put all the toys that they collected in the room, big and small ones, and even a tiny tent for Chenchen to rest when he was tired. Sets of tables and chairs or couches were placed on the balconies on the third and fourth floors. Those could be ideal spots to kill leisure time. Xing Feng also asked Gu Mingxuan to extend the cable so that they wouldn't have to go to the next door to get on the Internet anymore.

The parlor in the house on the other side of Yun Che's looked quite stern. They had put a large square conference table in it. The design of the second floor and above conformed with that of Yun Che's house. It was nice and homey. This house also had a solar panel and water tanks on the roof. Every room had an air conditioner. When the renovation was done, Lu's granddad and mom and Zhan Yafei's parents proposed to move into this house before Yun Che said anything. They were fully aware that young people needed their own space.

"We can, but it's pretty troublesome, isn't it? There are long distances from sections to sections, all this back-and-forthing can be really troublesome."

Nothing seemed to be able to disturb Xing Feng's living room at all. Yun Che had come to visit Chaoyang with Zhou Zeyu and Heiyu. Some people were on dates, some were building relationships, those who stayed at home were single men. Yun Che was an exception. He and Xing Feng didn't have their private time because he knew Xing Feng was busy with the laboratory. Xing Feng went out early in the morning and came home late at night as if the man was having an affair. If Yun Che was a woman, he would have had a fight with Xing Feng already.

"How troublesome can it be? Every squad has vehicles and Chaoyang isn't that far away from Section C."

Yun Che disagreed. They were currently discussing Yun Che's suggestion. He wanted to make Chaoyang Kindergarten bigger so that it could welcome all kids under 7 from every superfunction squad here for education. This was way more appealing than the rice that Wei and Wang Army promised. The bribery wouldn't have to be actual stuff, it was more about pinpointing people's pain points.

"OK, fine. There's a two-story house near the entrance of Chaoyang Community that was supposed to be a rest point for us. That can be another campus. Wenqing, can you please see to it? Your sister-in-law is the pro, whatever she needs, just say the word. Let's get the kindergarten built as quickly as possible. Shen Rui, inform all superfunction squads, they can sign up starting today if they like. The kids can have lunch and afternoon snacks for free. Just say, kids in Chaoyang need to be taken care of anyway, don't make it look like we're doing charity or something."

Gu Mingxuan made the decision after a quick thought. If it worked well, they could get a school bus like all kindergartens had before the doomsday. What Chaoyang had the most were average people who could do average jobs.

The work had been assigned. Right before Yu Wenqing and Shen Rui went out, Yun Che stopped them. "Wait a minute, Shen."

Yu Wenqing and Shen Rui took a look at each other. Shen Rui sat back in his chair, Yun Che continued, "It just occurs to me that education is fundamental to social development. Yes, people have been busting their asses keeping themselves alive in the doomsday, education suddenly becomes a low priority. But think about it, if it goes on, the next generation will be illiterate. How can any good parents bear to see their kids degenerate? Our current goals are controlling the Superfunction Association and building up our own laboratory, but someday, Major General Mo will be running for the Base Leader position, right? How about we start to lay the groundwork now? Mo Army can start hiring educators and tutors in the base for a free public school. The reputation will be earned, more jobs will be created, illiteracy will be prevented. This is One Stone, Three Birds."

However, this could be easier said than done. And it would surely be an expensive project. If Mo Wenyang was to be the Base Leader, he got more voters to earn rather than superfunction possessors. Average people were living a hard life, but they were made up of the majority of the population. As the ancient saying goes, win people, win the world. It would also work in modern days.

"Are you saying Mo Army will announce the establishment of the public school, we announce our kindergarten project after they earn enough reputation?"

Shen Rui asked while Gu Mingxuan was thinking about the feasibility of Yun Che's suggestion.

"Right. Since Captain Xing has no intention to be the Base Leader. We'd better let Mo Army take the credit."

Shen Rui got it right. The school wouldn't be built in several days, but they could start spreading the news now, couldn't they? Letting people know this thing could be helpful for the chairman election and potentially for the Base Leader election. The three armies were putting all of their attention on the development of the base and the superfunction possessor community at the moment, it could be one big step ahead of the other two armies if Mo Army initiated the education development program.
