Happy Flight; Encountering Zombie Birds

A helicopter was slower than an airplane, it could only fly 300 hundred miles an hour. The Coastal Base was 2 thousand meters away from the Southwest Base, it would take the guys at least 7 hours to get there provided there was no hindrance. Beasts were sensitive, under the protection of two level-4 eagles, they weren't attacked before leaving the southwest area.

"Uncle!"

Yun Che let Yun Cheng and Chenchen out since the flight had become boring. The boy jumped into Yun Che's arms as soon as he saw him. Yun Cheng wanted to do the same, but he did it to Leng Yehan since Yun Che got no room for him. If Leng Yehan knew Yun Cheng did this just because he was out of options, he'd be frustrated.

"What is this place?"

Yun Cheng watched out the window after he sat down. He had never experienced a flight in his memory. Leng Yehan pulled him back into his hug and explained, "We're on a chopper, the stuff that we saw days ago while we were taking a walk. Look, we're in the sky, do things on the ground seem smaller?"

Ever since Yun Che allowed Leng to take Yun Cheng outside, Leng Yehan had been taking them out for walks every day. Since they weren't out doing quests, they'd been strolling around the entire Chaoyang Community. When they saw the chopper a few days ago, Yun Cheng stood outside the parking apron to watch this bizarre thing for quite some time.

"Yeah, yeah. Han, look, the Eagle King!"

Yun Cheng held Leng's hand, pointing his finger outside the window and shouting in excitement, as he was on a flight for "the first time". Affected by him, Chenchen got off from Yun Che's laps to join them. He, too, watched out the window with curiosity, "Uncle, why is the Eagle King outside?"

After they tamed the Eagle King and the Eagle Queen, Chenchen had switched his mount from Heiyu to either of them, so he cared more about them than Xing Feng, the actual master, did.

"Because they are afraid to stay in one room with me."

Before Yun Che made a sound, Heiyu answered while he was munching on the energy bar. People all took a look at the Wolf King in the aisle. Heiyu often called Yun Che a liar, but in the guys' opinion, Heiyu was the biggest liar. Poor Chenchen, he was being "educated" by two liars.

"Heiyu is bullying the eagles again."

Chenchen took Heiyu's word for it, but he didn't admire him, instead, he frowned at him with his cheeks puffed. Heiyu immediately stopped eating and jumped up. "Chenchen, don't get it wrong, I don't need to bully them. I can intimidate them through mere one look. This is called supremacy, do you understand?"

A man couldn't live with slander, much less a god beast. Puppy Heiyu brandished his claws, calling for justice in agitation.

"Get lost! If you weren't the god beast, would they be afraid of you?"

Yun Che was mean as always.

"Yeah, Heiyu, what about some harmony between you guys? The Wolf King has been a good boy, you're the big boss, you should be magnanimous. Don't be so harsh on them or intimidate them all the time."

How could Zhou Zeyu miss this opportunity to mess around? Ye Xingcheng petted the Wolf King and agreed, "Hehe, I give Che thumbs-up this time. Heiyu, Wolf King is a good boy, please stop scaring him."

"Senior, Wolf King good, Heiyu bad!"

"Haha!"

Jiang Shang made a concise and accurate conclusion, which made everybody burst into laughter. Heiyu was so exasperated, he pointed his claws at the guys and ended up roaring, "When did I bully them? Would they be so obedient if it wasn't for me? You're a bunch of ungrateful bastards, you should be grateful for me instead of working together against me! Boohoo, master, kiss kiss…"

His roar turned into a whimper. Heiyu jumped into Yun Che's arms, putting his paws right on Yun Che's chest. Xing Feng grabbed and threw him away after seeing this.

"Damn, Xing Feng, you're a jerk! You'll pay for this!"

When the puppy was in the air, he threatened Xing Feng. People were laughing their heads off. Xing Feng, however, didn't even spare a look at him but patted Yun Che on the chest and said, "This is mine."

"Hey, we're on a flight, can't you stop showing off for a minute?"

After hearing this, Zhou Zeyu was the first to stand up against Xing Feng before Yun Che did. He and the Meng Brothers were the only single guys and being single was tough! Zhou had been actively and desperately trying to find a girlfriend when he just got to the base.

But it was a sad story, he scurried back to the community after taking a walk around the base. Girls in the superfunction area weren't average girls, they were lustier than dudes. They swarmed over as soon as they saw Zhou. They almost popped Zhou's cherry when they heard that he wanted a girlfriend. Zhou fought so hard to escape. Then he went to Section E, a civilian area where average girls lived. But when those girls knew that he was from Peak, they looked at Zhou like he was a lamb, and then, well, Zhou Zeyu terminated the lookout for girls. He didn't mind being at the mercy of fate because girls were scarier than Yun Che. He'd rather stay single if he couldn't meet the one.

"What? You're hurt once again?"

Yun Che gave him a glance and sprinkled more salt on his wound. Almost every superfunction possessor heard about his wooing experiences both in the superfunction and the civilian areas. People here had heard many versions of his stories.

"Screw you!"

Zhou Zeyu gave Yun Che a glower, but his retaliation was too weak. He leaned on Meng Gang down-spirited. "Let's stick together and ignore them."

However…

"No. I've got Xu with me."

Meng Gang pushed him away and dusted off his shoulder where Zhou just leaned. He turned to his brother and said, "Xu, you stay away from him. I think this part of his isn't right."

Meng Gang pointed at his head as he spoke.

"Hey, this is a personal attack. My head isn't right? You brother-complex guy call me crazy?"

Zhou Zeyu was worked up right after he heard what Meng Gang said. Chaoyang and Peak were ready for another drama. Chu Haoling even took sunflower seeds from his Space and gave everyone a pack. He booed, "Come on, Zeyu, too many words, just fight!"

It seemed someone really wanted the conflict to escalate, but if they did start a fight on the helicopter, they would have to walk to the Coastal Base.

Boom!

"Ah, uncle!"

When everybody was having a great time, the helicopter yawed left, making Chenchen scream in fright. Yun Che held him at once. Heiyu jumped on to his shoulder. Xing Feng put on the headphone and asked, "What's wrong?"

When they steadied themselves, they looked out the window and saw a large flock of zombie birds out there. The black birds seemed to be crows.

"Chief, a large flock of zombie crows came out of nowhere. There're at least a thousand of them. The eagles are already fighting them."

In the headphone, Xing Feng listened to Shen Rui's calm report. Jiang Shan the pilot tried to control the helicopter to escape from the zombie crows. The helicopter leaned from left to right. Ye Xingchen and the guys buckled up in a fluster. Yun Che shouted out loud, "Yehan, look after Cheng. Zeyu, Haixuan, follow me outside."

"Chenchen, you go back in Space to play with the Golden Eagle. I'll get you out after dealing with the crows."

Yun Che didn't have time to make sure they heard him, he hurriedly comforted Chenchen.

"Sure!"

The helicopter was wobbling, Chenchen was kind of scared, but he still nodded. Yun Che petted his head and sent him into Space.

"Brace yourselves! Open the door!"

After giving the order, Xing Feng took off the headphone and went to the rear with Yun Che, followed by Zhou Zeyu and Lu Haixuan. Both level-4 air and wind superfunction could render flying ability, but it couldn't last long if there was more than one passenger and it would consume a large amount of superfunction energy. They chose to take passengers because the eagles were out there and both Xing Feng and Lu Haixuan were gold superfunction possessors, their strikes wouldn't cause problems for the helicopter.

Hooo-Hooo…

As the rear door opened, strong winds blew in and zombie crows sneaked in through the gap. Xing Feng and Lu Haixuan were ready for them, they threw out dozens of gold knives at once.

"Take cover!"

When the door was ajar, Yun Che cast the air membrane to wrap Zhou Zeyu. He yelled and took Xing Feng out. Because they were in the air membrane, the crows didn't attack them, but they swarmed into the helicopter. Zhao Gang the melee attacker chopped the heads of several crows with the blade that he got from Heiyu. Jiang Shang and the other ranged attackers had activated their superfunction power to assist Zhao Gang. Ye Xingcheng couldn't fight without the Wolf King, he picked up the headphone and instructed Shen Rui to shut the door, then he drew the crossbow that Heiyu gave him and fired the arrows that Jiang Shang conjured for him.

Whiz-Whiz…

The short, precise arrows hit three crows in the head. Ye Xingcheng practiced archery because he didn't want to be a liability.

As the door closed, more crows were trying to get into the helicopter. Fortunately, these were some low-level crows, the highest would be level 2. These level-4 superfunction possessors could wipe them all out easily so the interior of the helicopter should be cleared in no time. On the outside, the air membrane was protecting Yun Che and the other guys from the crows and they didn't really care about the crows. When they flew out of the crow flock, they found the Eagle King and the Eagle Queen who were fighting some level-3 zombie crows. Yun Che and Zhou Zeyu tacitly nodded at each other. They then respectively took Xing Feng and Lu Haixuan to fly toward the eagles.

Coo-coo…

Mutant beasts had strengthened bodies but they weren't given superfunction power whereas zombie beasts, just like zombies, could use superfunction when reaching level-3. The eagles were lucky enough to not get injured in the fight with those level-3 zombie crows, but it was difficult for mutant beasts to defeat the zombie beasts. When the eagles felt their master was coming, their giant wings blew away the superfunction attacks from the crows before they started to fly toward Xing Feng.
