Cheng Is Wayward

Thud! Thud!

As soon as Yun Cheng joined the battle, the heads of the zombie beasts blocking his way exploded. When he reached Leng Yehan, there were a trail of headless dead zombie beasts behind him. No zombie beast could stand even one hit of Yun Cheng whether it was level-3 or level-4. This was what a human was capable of. Well, he was a human anyway, but this was unbeknownst to Joy and Loser, who were awed by Yun Cheng.

"Han, you're hurt."

Yun Cheng didn't care about those shocked people, to be precise, he didn't even notice them because all his attention was on Leng Yehan's bleeding cheeks and shoulders. Yun Cheng's slim body shivered, his eyebrows were tensely knitted.

"It's OK. Only flesh wounds. I'll have Haixuan heal me later."

Knowing that Yun Cheng couldn't help but rampage when he saw the ones he cared about get injured, Leng Yehan appeased him with a smile. As Leng stretched his arms, fire-attribute knives circled them in midair to protect them from incoming zombie beasts.

"You need to be healed immediately."

With Chenchen in his arms, Yun Cheng grabbed Leng's hand and forcibly took him to Lu Haixuan who was still engaged in the battle. Yun Cheng hated to see his brother or Han get injured.

His action warmed Leng Yehan's heart because what could be more heartwarming than being cared about by the one he loved? After the conversation between him and Yun Che last night, he was sure of Yun Cheng's feelings for him and was convinced that he wasn't making futile efforts in this relationship. Maybe Cheng couldn't remember the past, maybe he only had the IQ of a 10-year-old at the moment, but Cheng had been loving Leng back in his own way and this love was genuine.

"Go away, you filthy animals!"

Thud! Thud! Thud!

Right after they left the circle of the burning knives, the zombie beasts attacked them. Because Yun Cheng's level was high, so quite a number of level-4 zombies aimed at him. Yun Cheng just wanted to take Leng to the healer, he didn't have time for the zombie beasts. He let go of Leng's hand and clutched his fists, then the implosion turned all the incoming zombie beasts were into mists of flesh and blood.

"Uh, what just happened?"

Yu Wenzhou who happened to witness this was amazed. He didn't follow the guys to the Coastal Base, so he had never seen this move. This was completely new and sudden to him.

"That? I once saw him tear apart hundreds of zombies with one move regardless of the levels."

Jiang Shan replied when fighting side by side with him against the zombies. A dozen of zombie beasts were pretty easy for Yun Cheng.

"No wonder Che doesn't take him to quests."

Fang Rui had never seen this, either and now, he finally figured out why Yun Che kept Cheng at home. What would other guys kill if Yun Cheng was around? Yun Cheng's level would get higher and higher and the rest would make no progress.

"Enough. Hurry up and kill the remaining zombie beasts."

Shen Rui cut in. Almost everybody was injured, so the team would need some time to get healing after the battle. And since Yun Che also joined the battle, something beyond plan must have occurred, so they'd better wrap up the battle as soon as possible.

"OK."

They stopped chatting and launched the most offensive attack on the zombie beasts. Everyone fought on their own and cooperated well. On the other side, Yun Che bravely confronted the zombie beasts. He struck shockwaves at the zombie beasts with the blade in one of his hands, his other hand threw streaks of lightning at them. The combat power of a level-5 superfunction possessor was no joke. Even though the zombies were physically stronger than superfunction possessors, they still couldn't take the attack of someone one level higher. One strike after another, soon, Yun Che killed dozens of zombie beasts. The superfunction possessors got the upper hand.

"Shit! Look alive! Kill all these nasty things."

Lei Dashan roared as he struck the zombie beasts with his fire-attribute blade. The victory was at hand, the superfunction possessors were heartened and threw out superfunction power like crazy. Back to back with Xing Feng, Yun Che said, "Wrap it up. There's a level-5 zombie beast in the village."

Upon hearing this, Xing Feng's body froze for a moment before he re-engaged in the battle, shooting golden bullets at the zombie beasts. On his other hand, a chunk of thick black gas started to shape up. When it got to the size of a basketball, Xing Feng threw it at one of the zombie beasts.

"Ughhhhh."

Wrapped by the black gas, the zombie beast moaned. It fell to the ground and twitched, then its limps started to decompose. It ended up as a puddle of blood.

"It's horrifying."

Yun Che took a look and gave the comment. The superfunction rarer than light was amazingly corrosive.

"Yeah, kind of."

It was the first time Xing Feng used dark superfunction, its effect even shocked himself, but soon the shock turned into satisfaction. The great power of dark superfunction only further increased his fighting capacity, which meant the gap between him and Yun Che was narrowed. In fact, Xing Feng did mind him being one level lower than Yun Che because he didn't want to be a drag.

"Keep fighting."

After making eye contact, they cast superfunction again. It took the team another half an hour to kill all the zombie beasts. The battle was finally over, the mildly injured ones volunteered to collect crystal nuclei, Yun Che and Lu Haixuan helped heal the heavily injured. At this point, Chen Hua and Lei Dashan were no longer that surprised when they saw Yun Che use light superfunction. Yun Che was just too powerful, they'd already known that there would be more surprises.

"Hurry up, rest and replenish. There's a level-5 zombie beast in the village."

"What?"

"A level-5 zombie beast?"

"Fuck, those things level up fast."

"Shit!"

What Yun Che said upset everybody. The word level-5 definitely had touched their nerve. Most humans and zombies just broke through to level-4 due to the snow. It'd only been a while and here Yun Che told them about the existence of a level-5 zombie beast. Superfunction possessors were surely uneasy because breakthrough would only be harder to achieve in higher levels.

"Its attribute is probably psychological and I assume it's a primate."

When the curses were over, Yun Che presented his thought. Theoretically, there shouldn't be level-5 zombie beasts at the moment but if there was one, it could be a psychological primate. Primates were intelligent creatures before the doomsday and if this one was a psychological primate, its intelligence would remain after the zombification. After extracting power from high-level crystal nuclei or superfunction possessors or mutant beasts, its level would rocket. The breakthrough to level-5 wasn't entirely impossible, although it did seem surreal.

"Shit…" *Cough cough*

Chu Haoling choked on the kernel after he swallowed a fruit whole. He coughed so hard that tears were squeezed out of his eyes. Lu Haixuan patted him on the back and said with concern, "Don't try to speak while eating. Chenchen, can you please give me a bottle of water?"

"OK."

Chenchen gave them his milk bottle.

"Uh…"

The corner of Chu Haoling's mouth twitched. Chenchen stepped closer and put it next to Chu's mouth since he didn't take it. "Open your mouth, Uncle Chu. Come on, open it."

"Haha!"

"God, Chencehn, you're funny."

"Haoling, open your mouth. Chenchen has been holding the bottle forever. Haha!"

"Shit, it's hilarious. Chenchen, you're so…"

"Haha."

The upset crowd burst into laughter. Lu Haixuan asked the wrong person for water. Chenchen put his food and drink and toys in his Space, where could he keep the liquid other than his milk bottles?

"What are you laughing about?"

Chu Haoling was embarrassed and irritated. He gave the crowd a glare, then forced a smile and pushed the bottle away. "Thanks, Chenchen, but I'm not thirsty."

"Oh, it's fine. Please let me know when you're thirsty, I got plenty."

Chenchen didn't know what was going on. He put the bottle away and innocently showed his kindness. His uncle had filled many milk bottles with water in case the boy got thirsty.

"Haha."

What Chenchen said amused everybody again. After Chu Haoling rigidly said thank you, he pinched Lu Haixuan's waist. Hadn't Lu asked Chenchen for water, he wouldn't be laughed at.

"Ow! I thought our captain would put regular water bottles in his Space."

It wasn't Lu Haixuan's fault. Technically, it was water in a bottle, which had an additional teat…

"I'll settle it with you when we're home!"

Chu Haoling gave Lu Haixuan a glare after letting him off. Lu Haixuan put on a wry smile. He looked around and asked Meng Xu for water. Chenchen had returned to Yun Che after the unintended amusement was over.

"Haoling, did you encounter many zombie beasts when you came here several days ago?"

After the jolly moment, Xing Feng picked up the serious conversation. Chu Haoling walked over to them with the water bottle in hand. He took out a stool and sat on it. "I don't know. We didn't think bamboo-cutting would be a tough job, so we also took a quest. After we finished the quest, we decided to cut down the bamboos on a whim when we took another way past here. But we ran into the mutant pandas right after we walked into the bamboo forest. We never entered the village. I think the level-5 zombie beast should be able to scent the smell of our blood but no zombie beast chased us. I think this fellow must have come to the village in the past few days, maybe it was drawn here by the smell of our blood, so were the other zombie beasts and the zombies."

When he recalled it, Chu Haoling got scared. Hadn't he run fast, he would have been killed on the spot. They now could barely fight level-4 zombie beasts, so the level-5 one could undoubtedly take their lives.

"Hmm, I think so."

Xing Feng rubbed his chin when he thought about it, then he nodded. But the strange thing was, why hadn't the level-5 zombie beast joined the battle? "It couldn't move?" Xing Feng wondered, "Unlikely. If it couldn't move, how did it come to the village? How did it reach level 5?"

"Don't think too much about it. Let's go find it after the break. We can't bypass it, so instead of keeping looking out for it, why don't we find and confront it?"

"Sure."

Everybody approved of Yun Che's idea. They nodded and held crystal nuclei for recovery.
