Junior Base Commander of the Northeast

Gao Wei and Xing Feng would like to have a gathering though, it was impossible to find a recreational place such as a tea house or a club after the doomsday. Xing Feng didn't invite Gao Wei to their home, considering that Yun Che was subconsciously wary of Gao Wei. Even though Gao Wei was sort of a childhood friend for them, he had immigrated to the northeast when he was a teenager. They had met him in recent years but only on military manoeuvres as opponents. Like the saying went, people should be always on guard against each other in troubled times. Especially, they represented different powers. Xing Feng would not be so stupid to treat Gao Wei as a close friend. Therefore, they just gathered in the pavilion inside the cemetery.

"Xing Feng, are you gonna settle down in the capital?"

After exchanging greetings, Gao Wei suddenly turned to Xing Feng and asked. It seemed a normal question though, Gao Wei was actually prying secretly the future setup of the capital. If Xing Feng lived in the capital, he was bound to take over the Xing Army. With his ability and his better half, Xing Feng was very likely to rule the Capital Base in place of Liu Xizhao.

"I haven't decided yet. It depends on Che. If he likes it here in the capital, I'll live in the capital. If not, we'll head back to the southwest. Anyways, it's pretty much the same wherever we live.

Xing Feng was not foolish. How would he not know Gao Wei's implication? The current Xing Feng had no longer been aggressive and was totally an ordinary man who just loved his spouse.

"Oh? What about you spouse? Does he prefer the capital or the southwest?"

Gao Wei didn't mean to give up. He shifted the subject and talked about Yun Che. Yun Che said with a light smile, "It's hard to say. Both places have their own advantages. I even think it nice to live in the coast. I haven't decided on where to settle down. But it's not urgent for me now. There must be a place for me to live in the three bases. If I really can't make a choice, I could also move around in the three bases in turns. Isn't it also nice to change environment occasionally?"

"By the way, is Yun Che really the one who managed to plant grains in the southwest?"

It could be seen that Gao Wei was not an indecisive man. He changed the topic quickly but not incompatibly. As he was the junior base commander of the Northeast Base, it was natural for him to concern about that.

This time, neither Xing Feng nor Yun Che responded. Instead, Mo Wenyang asked deliberately alertly, "What? Wanna use the friend card? Tell you what, this is not negotiable. Like you said, Yun Che has all the planting secret. None of the three of us is likely to make decisions for him. He's not a soldier. "No way that I would announce it. But if I am in a good mood, I may help make a piece of land plantable in a base. No one can predict the future."

Yun Che's answer was still vague and gave Gao Wei enough room for imagination. Gao Wei frowned imperceptibly. "So there's still a chance, isn't there?"

Gao Wei had witnessed yesterday how impressive Yun Che was, but he didn't realize that Yun Che was foxier than he imagined until he talked with Yun Che today. Yun Che was indeed a formidable man though, he was too young after all. If Yun Che could really make a piece of land plantable, it was nothing hard for Gao Wei to figure out the secret with their research techniques as long as they had enough land.

How would Yun Che not understand his words?

"Huh…"

Gao Wei just responded him with a smile as a courtesy and didn't argue with him any more. If Yun Che could really create the substitute of spring water, Gao Wei would be convinced.

"Well, are you catching up with us or having designs on my honey? You're not gonna give up, huh?"

Seeing Gao Wei ready to say something else, Xing Feng interrupted him angrily on purpose. Gao Wei made a bow with hands and smiled evilly. "Wait a minute. One more thing. The Northeast Base is a good place. Yun Che, would you consider staying there for some time? Or even living there. I promise you won't feel bored."

That was annoying. With anger rising, Tan Weiye and Mo Wenyang were ready to lose their temper. But Yun Che just said with a bland smile, "Everything is possible, isn't it? Perhaps me and Feng will show up in the Northeast Base some day."

That was a vague answer again, but…

"It's a deal then. Let me know before you come."

Gao Wei took Yun Che's vague answer as a positive one. Yun Che knitted his eyebrows imperceptibly. He had always found Gao Wei hard to understand. Or rather, Gao Wei had perhaps never shown the real him. That was quite interesting. But it was never Yun Che's assumption that Gao Wei had ever been reborn. Xing Feng appeared casual though, he wished to kick Gao Wei out of the capital. If Gao Wei stayed in the capital, things might change. Also, there were other base commanders in the capital. Xing Feng didn't think that they had risked to come to the capital only for the wedding. Everyone should have his own purpose, right? Yun Che and his people had confidence in overthrowing Liu Xizhao, but they were not gods. They couldn't predict everything. Those base commanders were the greatest variable factors.

"If the zombies are really gonna surround the city, I can't handle such a big thing alone, can I?"

In other words, Gao Wei wasn't going to leave easily unless he realized his goal.

"Really?"

Since that method didn't work, Xing Feng gave it up. Yun Che held Xing Feng's hand beneath the table secretly. After a moment of eye contact, they both burst into laughter. Mo Wenyang who accidentally saw the scene couldn't help praying for Gao Wei. Home-guarding Beast was going to start trouble again, Gao Wei would suffer. Yun Che's appearance was a huge contrast to his force.

"I heard that you went to support the Northwest Base last year, didn't you? No one from the Northwest Base came this time. How is it in that base?"

Although they had connections, they were about something unimportant, which the people present, representatives of bases, knew clearly. Every base kept the real confidential issue secret. The issue about the planting in the southwest was too stunning to be hidden. Or else, who would know that?

Alright, Gao Wei seemed to have done something silly this time. He looked gloomy. He made that silly mistake just because he was just too anxious. Mo Wenyang and Tan Weiye didn't care if Gao Wei was too anxious. They immediately put on a disgusted look as if they worried that his silliness would infect them. Gao Wei looked even gloomier. Would those two bastards dare to be more annoying?
