Alpha Player

Abigail lay on her bed and entered the game immediately. She felt like her soul is leaving her body and was transported to another world. The first thing she see when the transport is complete is herself.

"This is… me?"

"Yes, this is your default game character. You can change how you look."

"…"

The first thought Abigail had in mind was how did the game company know my height and my three sizes?

"No matter."

Then she threw her thought into rubbish bin cause she can't think of anything out of it.

"Silver hair… Silver eyes… Brighter skin colour… Done."

"Your game character is linked to yourself. No further changes can be made after you press 'Confirm'. Are you sure you want to continue?"

"Yes."

"Please choose a name for your game character. It has to be within 2 to 20 characters long."

"Abigail."

"Your character name is linked to yourself. No further changes can be made after you press 'Confirm'. Are you sure you want to continue?"

"Yes."

Then the view changed to a board that has 4 colours. This is class choosing board. Red represent physical melee, green represent physical ranged, yellow represent magical melee, blue represent magical ranged. All colours have 4 classes to choose from, 16 in total.

"Any recommendations?"

"Recommendation: Don't choose the class that you will regret."

"Since you just started the game, you can only choose 1 class to begin with. Class benefits might not affect the gameplay a lot at the beginning. But as you progress, it will get better."

"Some class skills are linked to each other. You will be more powerful by choosing those classes together."

"All classes have 3 stages, beginner, intermediate and master. Each 100 levels can unlock all the benefits of current stage and unlock the next stage."

"Friendly reminder: The base max level of this game is level 1000."

"Base max level?"

Abigail tilled her head and asked.

"Yes, base max level. In this game, you can level up to infinity. But challenges and some event areas will limit player max level to 1000. This is to prevent players from becoming overpowered by equipping too many classes and having too high stats."

"Can I change my class setup later?"

"Yes, every time you level up, you get 1 class point. So 100 levels will get you 100 class points, which can fully unlock 1 stage of a class. So you can fit 10 stages when you are level 1000."

"Reminder: You have to equip lower level stage of that particular class before equipping a higher level stage."

"I see."

Then Abigail started checking the description of each class.

"First, let's check out the red area, the physical melee classes."

"Knight: This class is for the frontlines. It provides good defense abilities and decent attack abilities. If you are looking for slashing and shield bashing, then this class is for you."

"Assassin: This class is for the flankers. It provides decent speed abilities and poison inflicting abilities. If you want to play dirty by backstabbing, then this class is for you."

"Berserker: This class is for the glass cannons. It provides the abilities to ignore the backdraw of stats becoming low, including durability, stamina and mana. It also provides the abilities to be stronger the lower your stats. If you like to feel extreme, then this class is for you."

"Fencer: This class is for the kiters. It provides good positioning abilities and decent defense ignoring abilities. If you like to watch melee enemies die in front of your eyes while they can't do anything to you, then this class is for you."

"Second, let's check the yellow area, the magical melee classes."

"Samurai: This class is for the strikers. It provides decent defense abilities and good attack abilities. If you like cutting and smashing, then this class is for you."

"Elementalist: This class is for the melee supports. It provides abilities to add different types of damage to melee attacks and the abilities to inflict special effects with melee attacks. If you don't like surprises, then this class is for you."

"Monk: This class is for the boxers. It provides weapons and armours breaking abilities and abilities to enhance body. If you like punching or hate weapons, then this class is for you."

"Reaper: This class is for the endurers. It provides abilities to life steal and abilities to break body. If you like to annoy or disgust your enemies, then this class is for you."

"Third, let's check the green area, the physical ranged classes."

"Archer: This class is for the snipers. It provides abilities to increase pierce and damage to a single shot. If you like one shot for one or more kills, then this class is for you."

"Hunter: This class is for the gunners. It provides abilities to burst ammo in a magazine and abilities to shoot quickly. If you like to spam, then this class is for you."

"Trickster: This class is for the trappers. It provides abilities to hide, detect and avoid traps. It also provides abilities to place traps quicker and without notice. If you like the satisfaction from your enemies stepping on your traps left and right, then this class is for you."

"Ninja: This class is for the dark lords. It provides abilities to hide, move and enhance oneself in the darkness. It also provides abilities to enhance throwables. If you like to become one with the shadows, then this class is for you."

"Last, let's check the blue area, the magical ranged classes."

"Wizard: This class is for the magic casters. It provides a good variety of attack magic abilities. If you like flashing attack effects, then this class is for you."

"Mage: This class is for the battle supports. It provides a good variety of defensive and supportive magic abilities. If you like to be the most annoying enemy and being targeted because of it, then this class is for you."

"Summoner: This class is for the overlords. It provides abilities to summon different kind of creatures. If you like to fight with a pack, then this class is for you."

"Enchanter: This class is for the ranged supports. It provides abilities to add different types of damage to ranged attacks and the abilities to inflict special effects with ranged attacks. If you don't like surprises, then this class is for you."

After thinking for a while, Abigail decided to choose the samurai class.

"I am ready to play the game… Wait, there's more?"

"Before you enter the game, there is one rule you must follow."

"In order to create a wonderful gameplay experience for everyone, this game runs on menace system."

"In other words, since you are allowed to do literally anything in this game, including killing NPCs. We will restrict players from doing actions that have way more menace than the menace the NPC has towards you."

"For example: NPC wanted to disgust you by insulting you. Then if you want to kill the NPC, we will warn you. If you ignored the warning and actually did it, you will get banned from the game."

"Do you accept the terms and continue?"

"It is not like I can play the game without accepting. Yes, continue."

"Welcome to RPG World, Abigail."

Abigail felt like she travelled different dimensions. A flesh grassy scent entered her lungs. A present grassland view entered her eyes.

"This technology… Wow…"

If not Abigail knew this is a game and the system appearing on her screen, she would have thought she reincarnated into another world.

"System reminder: You can receive starter pack."

"System reminder: Congratulations! You are the first player of this game. The creator wanted to give you a special gift. Check your inbox for it."

Two message popped up in bottom left of Abigail's screen.

"Oh, I remember dad saying the first player can get the special gift. I wonder what it is."

Abigail decided to receive her own starter pack first. The starter pack includes starter armour set, starter cape, 2 starter daggers, starter short sword, starter long sword, starter spear, starter hammer, starter round shield, starter tower shield, starter bow, 2 starter guns and a starter wand. All starter equipment has their own durability, meaning they are breakable.

"Equipment has durability too? I guess that's why monk class exists."

"Good that I don't have to worry about equipment for now because I can receive starter pack infinite times."

Then Abigail checked her inbox for the special gift.

"…"

And being shocked by it.

"I thought it would be something useful. But an 'Alpha Player' title and an 'Alpha Player' equipment skin?"

"Oh, there are descriptions."

"Alpha Player title: An exclusive title granted to the first player. By equipping this title, every player will know the fact that you are the first player and you are very eager to play this game that you entered the game ahead of everyone else. Note: The start leads to the end, the end makes a new start."

"So I am right, it is useless. Title grants no special buffs."

"Alpha Player equipment skin: An exclusive equipment skin granted to the first player. By equipping this equipment skin, your equipment will be black in colour with blood red as outline. The coolness of your equipment will increase ten times. Your equipment will also have a special visual effect that other normal equipment skins do not have. Then Abigail selected the Alpha Player equipment skin for all her starter equipment and equipped it. Her cute and innocent face makes a big difference comparing to her evil styled equipment. The black colour of the equipment shined abnormally when being stared at. While the blood red colour looked normal on the first glance, but if being stared at for too long, people will be fascinated by the beauty of the evil contained within and kept staring until there is an outside interference.

"Woah, I almost have a staring contest with my own equipment. This visual effect is strong. I don't even know how they did it."

"Nevertheless, it is not useless at least. Good to know."

"Oh yeah, dad asked me to livestream."

Abigail looked at the time. It shows "22:15:26". Every 10 in game seconds passed, but only 1 real time second passed.

"I hope creator is not lying. I don't hope that after 4 days of playtime and I wake up 4 days later."

Abigail then set up the livestream and began adventuring.
