Chapter 24: Not Now, Not Today

Salinias rode up to his brother and addressed Rowan immediately.

“Lady Rowan,” He bowed his head appropriately. “We are sorry for your sudden loss. Please accept the Elven Nation’s condolences on your uncle’s passing.”

Rowan thanked him and began riding away.

She paused, “Will you stay for the coronation?”

Salinias was surprised but pleased, “Yes, I think we will. Thank you.”

General Tarik collected Lady Rowan and rode away.

“You invited the Elves to the coronation?” The General asked.

“Of course,” Rowan returned. “I plan on healing this rift between the nations, solving these attacks, perhaps forming an alliance.”

“How do you plan on doing that?”

“With your help and experience, of course, General.”

“My lady, the Elves will not easily be enticed to sign an alliance,” Tarik warned.

“I know it will take time, but I have to try.”

General Tarik gave her a proud, warm smile, “It is indeed a new beginning.”

With that comment, Rowan’s heart became a little bit lighter.
