Chapter 68: My Lover's Mate

Noel walked through the front door of Wes’ cabin, her body tired and her muscles sore. Even with everyone’s help at Everglades, it still took quite a bit of work to get the bar cleaned up and in some semblance of order. It would be a few more days before Wes could open it back up for business, which Noel thought would be good; it gave him a chance to relax and deal with everything that happened. She dropped her purse on the island between the living room and the kitchen. And a lot has happened.

Wes walked past her and went straight to his liquor cabinet and the whiskey. Jake stood awkwardly by the front door, having followed them from Everglades to the cabin. Luckily, Noel’s mother headed back to her hotel. Noel had endured enough of her mother’s demanding tone and snark, even though she knew they wouldn’t have accomplished nearly as much as they did without her. Marge Hastings was a take charge kind of woman. They had needed that today.
