Chapter 21: Lily

Lily stared at herself in the bathroom mirror, her hair pinned back behind her ears as the rest of it was pulled back in a ponytail. She wore a short, navy blue cocktail dress with a thin black belt and black pumps. She had dusted her cheeks with a light rouge, but that was the only makeup she had chosen for the night. She preferred the more natural look rather than wearing a coat of paint. She hoped Jack did, as well.

Cassie entered the bathroom, sliding up behind her mother, her hands on Lily’s shoulders. “You look gorgeous. Relax. There’s no way Jack isn’t going to notice you tonight.”
