Chapter 25: Island Cabin

Shasta awoke in the hammock feeling refreshed. She hadn’t slept so soundly in a long time. Carefully, she stepped down and stretched lazily. Maybe Eddie had been right. A little vacation would do her some good.

Curious about the progress of her shower, she went down to the dock to check. She looked across the lake but couldn’t tell whether or not Blake was around. It looked the same as it had earlier in the day. She knelt and peered at the temperature gauge. It read between eighty-five and ninety, which still didn’t sound that hot but the reading was at the end of the indicator. The outside temperature probably wouldn’t get any warmer either. So shower time was now or never.
