Chapter 31: Daddies and Littles

Shasta stared at the radio for a moment. Her heart pounded. Ten minutes. Not very long to get ready. But then, she was wearing the only clothes she had, the ones borrowed from Blake’s sister. There was no makeup or any way to style her hair. She didn’t even have shoes. She went to Blake’s bedroom and searched his closet. His huge flip flops were the only things that would remotely stay on her feet.

She checked her image in the bathroom mirror one last time and set out for the main lodge, the enormous brown leather sandals slapping noisily against the bottoms of her feet as she trudged along. She hesitated at the front door, then opened it. “Hello?”

“Come on back, Amy. We’re in the kitchen.”
