Just an inch more and Leonard would have been chopped into a million tiny pieces. 

The knives stopped in mid air and then dropped to the ground making a clatter against the dead leaves. 

Kieran materialized above Leonard who was slumped, struggling in pain. The cloth had disappeared from his eyes.

"What is happening to me?" he groaned, unable to bear the feeling of dying in unbearable pain. "What did you..." he gasped  "...do to me?"

"It seems that is your limit." Kieran said contemplating. "For now that is."

"What...do you...mean?" he could feel his bones popping and his blood felt like it was boiling. 

"Your body is not strong enough to make use of your ability to the fullest extent...yet. But that can be remedied. I will give you some training tips to help condition your body to the training you will be receiving."

He was dying here and all Kieran could talk about was more training.
