Chapter 4: I Miss You

I Miss You

Cheating, he was cheating? No wonder he'd been distant lately. She was pretty, too. I envied her, and it depressed me. I walked away, not wanting to be seen. I didn't understand. Was, am I not good enough? I was sweet, though, right? Right? I sighed, feeling tears gather.

"I just need to go home, that's all."

"Yeah, go home and cry," A voice in my mind mocked.

"Shut up."

So many people, too many. The crowd was too large for my liking, I definitely wasn't going to get there quickly. There weren't any means of escape, either. I sighed once again, walking with the crowd.

"Hey."

I looked beside me to find an old friend of mine. She looked so different, she was cute. She was cute then, but now?

"Damn, "I thought.

Did she know it was me, did she recognize me? Or, was I just some stranger to her?

"Hi, "I replied, looking at her.

"What's wrong?"

I shook my head, fighting back tears," Nothing, I'm just having a bad day."

I laughed it off, flawlessly faking a smile. Yet, she saw right through me.

"No," She said seriously, "You don't have to lie to me."

I stared at her. Did she remember me? Or, was she just perceptive? She spoke my name, as tears gathered again. This time, out of happiness. Well, and hurt, but mostly happiness.

"I...can we talk about this somewhere else?"

She nodded as the crowd suddenly disappeared. Everyone was gone? The crowd was right there, though. Did it move that quickly? Now, it was just her and me. She smiled at me, I knew that smile. She was planning something. She grabbed my hand, pulling me with her.

"Where are you taking me?"

"We're going shopping," She smiled.

I looked at her, watching as she grinned. Her smile was contagious, it was difficult not to feel the happiness radiating off of her. She pulled me into some random store, pulling me with her through the store. She let go of my hand, at some point, looking through various clothing.

She handed me some article of clothing, "This would look great on you!" She squealed.

She shoved me into the dressing room. I sighed, knowing there was no way to escape this. Just as I put it on, she threw more clothing in the stall. I laughed, she was such a hyper girl. It was adorable, she was adorable.

"But I just put this on!"

"She squealed, "Let me see!"

I laughed, exiting the stall. Once again, she squealed, hugging me.

"You look-"

I looked around, the crowd was still there and it was just as big as it was before. She called out my name, gaining my attention. How long had I zoned out?

"Sorry, I zoned out."

She laughed, "As always."

I smiled, "This crowd, though."

She grinned before grabbing my hand, leading me through the crowd. She pushed and shoved as I apologized to the people we bumped into. Someone tried to separate us, but her sadistic glare silenced the poor human. We finally made it through the crowd, breathing heavily.

She smiled exhaustedly at me, "Finally."

I nodded, catching my breath.

She looked at me apologetically, "We'll talk at my house, okay?"

I nodded, following her. Her neighborhood was beautiful, like her. She opened the door, holding it for me.

"You have a beautiful home."

She giggled, "Don't you remember it?"

I blushed in embarrassment, "My memory isn't the best."

She giggled again, closing the door. She patted the seat next to her, smiling sadly at me. I followed her instruction.

"So, what's wrong?"

I told her everything, it all just came out. She looked angry and sympathetic. At some point, I found myself laying my head on her lap. She ran her hands through my hair gently as I cried softly into her lap.

"He doesn't deserve you, you're amazing. You deserve better, "She began whispering, reassuring me.

"I missed you," She said suddenly, "I-"

She's gone, I'm gone. I don't know what to do. I don't want to leave her, I can't. I laid my head on her lap, hugging her lifeless body.

"I miss you."
