New World

Chapter 1

In the year 4081 The Iron Heart Empire sent its first colony ship to another solar system. Carrying 50,000 dwarves to their new home. Under the orders of Emperor Karl von Bismarck a 25,000 meter long colony ship left their home system to a new planet called H-5. With the rapidly growing technology of the dwarves under Emperor Bismarck traversing the space between solar systems has become easier by the day. With faster ships and communications it is no longer a problem to go to nearby systems. In a system called Hope for the last 170 years a planet called H-5 has been terraformed into a habitable world. This will be the third of many planets that will be under the control of the Empire. In charge of the new colony is the second prince Heinrich von Bismarck. He was given 200 years to accomplish a stable colony.

It will be an extremely difficult task to complete in a short time. The colony ship would take 10 years to reach its destination. Prince Heinrich was wrapping his head around how to accomplish what his father ordered. The task he was demanded to do would take an millennium to do let alone 200 years. To make a land and space port would take 250 years alone not to mention the farms, houses, transportation systems, city building and management. They didn't even have enough materials. It was a serious miscalculation on the Emperor's side. Prince Heinrich was pulling on his beard trying to think of a way to secure food, build on the planet's surface, a space port, and mine the resource. The amount of metal to build a space port was not small. They only had enough food for 20 years and after the journey only 10 years left. Farming would be of top priority. Not only would he need to feed the colonists but also the team that transformed the planet. While few dwarves are needed to terraform it still required 5000. The 5000 dwarves are running low on supplies. The only good thing is all the tools and equipment needed to terraform are still there. They can be turned into mining equipment.

Chapter 2

Gazing out of a viewing port Prince Heinrich saw the burning blue star. they had finally reached the solar system. The planet H-5 was only slightly larger than earth. H-5 had no oceans as the terraformers leveled the surface before the began making it habitable. Afterwards large amounts of ice in the norther pole was melted to make rivers and lakes. Prince Heinrich decided to have 2 cities built. One near the southern pole and the other in the north. He had hoped that the planet would be rich in natural resources. His first order was to begin mining for metal to build a spaceport and ships. Then he sent some men to find a place to build the farm. When the ship finally landed he set up a meeting with the 5000 dwarves that are terraforming the planet. After a long discussion it was agreed that 3500 will go help convert the terraforming equipment into mining equipment and 1500 will stay to work on the the construction of farms and help establish the cities. The 50,000 dwarfs from the colony ship were separated into there assigned tasks and began working,

Chapter 3

6 months later Prince Heinrich was gazing out of a viewing port of the colony ship and watching the dwarf miners. As he watched the miner's he began to think about how the colony would survive. If his colony could not survive 200 years it would mean his failure. Prince Heinrich thought for a while then a though came to his mind. The colony could survive for 200 years if they were self sufficient. That meant he had to build 30 ships. He could have the 1000 engineers produce 30 ships. He decided he would have the first 15 be cargo ships, 5 equipment transports, and 10 passenger ships. Prince Heinrich sent a message to the engineers telling them of the ships he wants built and how many. The engineers had begun production immediately. The engineers would not finish the ships in a short time. The ship had to be constructed on the ground and then launched. Prince Heinrich was not expecting a quick answer. It would take 3 years for the first ships to be built. The rest would follow. In the meantime Prince Heinrich sent a request for more supplies. The Emperor had already made preparations to send a shipment. The ships would be carrying enough supplies to last the colony 20 years. This was all the Empire could spare.

Chapter 4

After a year the first 5 cargo ships were finished. Prince Heinrich decided to give command of both ships to the miners to transport ore. He was told the rest of the cargo ships would take 2 years. Prince Heinrich then decided to visit the northern city. The city was named Nova Berlin. Nova Berlin was going to be the city of industry. All the equipment would be made there. The other city would be named Hausburg. Hausburg was going to be a major trade center. Prince Heinrich was looking forward to seeing his city.

The trip north was uneventful. Upon arriving Prince Heinrich was greeted by Barron Fredrick Staruss the leader of the dwarves of Nova Berlin. Nova Berlin was almost half built. The dwarves had worked hard over the past year to construct transportation systems form roads to railways
