CHAPTER 51: CONFESSION

Arianna gave her mother a shy look after she asked her that question. She knew her mother was going to ask, but she had no idea how she was going to explain the subject to her.

She was too shy and embarrassed to recall anything. This was her mother, for crying out loud, and telling her as if she were talking to a friend didn't sit well with her.

"Oh, Mom, this..."

"I have all the time in the world, and little girl, a word of advice, you better hurry or else when your father returns, there will be hell to pay," Marylyn practically threatened Arianna, which stunned the young lady.

"Ehhh, mom, you can't be serious, right?" Arianna inquired, her eyes welling up with tears as she stared at her mother. Her eyes were practically pleading with her mother for mercy, but the older lady didn't buy it.

"Start talking or I will call your older brother back and we will see if you will be sitting so merrily like this as if nothing happened," Marylyn smirked as she looked at Arianna, whose eyes were now bulging out of their sockets after hearing what she said.

"Fine, I'll tell you about it, but you're not allowed to pass judgment on me right away. You must pay attention to everything!" Arianna emphasized her point while looking solemnly at her mother.

Marylyn felt better after getting her daughter to reveal her little secret, and she looked at Arianna, urging her to hurry up.

"So I was at the banquet sipping champagne and talking to the group of a***** when I caught a glimpse of him and......." when she started talking, she couldn't stop, and Marylyn could see how excited Arianna was.

She was present when her daughter first fell in love with Lucas, so she knew how enamored she was with him, but this felt different. She could see and tell that her daughter was in for a big surprise this time, which was a little concerning, but the more she listened to Arianna, the more she realized that things might not be as bad as they appear.

"How about you, what do you like about him?" As she sipped her tea, Marylyn asked.

Arianna blushed and looked at her mother shyly as she heard her mother's question, "Actually, there is quite lot.  He isn't a talker, but when he does speak, he says the right things. Do you know that when we went on a date, he....."

That's how the second round of narrating began, and Arianna shamelessly boasted about how her date with Maxim went, what he did for her, and so on.

When Paulo arrived, he couldn't bother the two because he was listening on the side, hearing what his little baby was saying about the new guy she met. He could tell by the tone of her voice that Arianna was smitten with this Maxim guy and adored him.

He just hoped that his feelings for her were mutual.

He didn't want Arianna to suffer in the same way Lucas had. He couldn't sit down and ask her like Marylyn, so he could only listen on the side.

"Um, I can tell he at least cares about you. I'm hoping we'll be able to see him soon. I don't want to live in the dark without knowing what my potential son-in-law looks like," Marylyn finally conceded after hearing this Maxim's good deeds.

"Don't worry about it; once we're stable enough, I'll definitely set up a meeting for you all to meet him," Arianna responded shyly as she fiddled with her fingers.

"I will be waiting for that day, and I hope it comes soon," Marylyn said, looking at her daughter before checking her wrist watch, "it's already late.  You should now go to your room and change your clothes. Dinner should take about an hour to prepare. Your father should have arrived by now."

Hearing this, Arianna looked at her watch and realized that she and her mother had been chatting for quite some time and that a rest was something she would kill for right now.

"Sure, I didn't notice. Since I've pretty much admitted everything, there shouldn't be anything wrong, right?" Arianna inquired, her eyes wide with anticipation.

Marylyn took Arianna's small hands in hers and smiled brightly at her, saying, "If you're going to do something in the future, please let us know.  I don't want to hear about you in the news first, do you understand?"

Arianna looked her mother in the eyes and said, "I promise you that I will not be so hasty the next time. If anything happens, I'll bide my time and wait in the shadows."

When she heard what Arianna said, Marylyn nearly passed out. How could she even consider doing anything after what she had just said? Because this was her daughter, she could simply brush it off and keep more guards on her to ensure that nothing like that happened again.

Seeing her mother in that state made Arianna feel better about what her mother had done to her since she arrived, and for the sake of the delicious food, she let her mother go a little.

"Since we've finished here, I'll leave. I'll see you at dinner," Arianna said as she rose to her feet and walked over to her mother, kissing her on the cheek.

Arianna dashed out of the salon and into the elevator, which took her to her floor. She walked into her room, which she hadn't seen in days, and felt at ease. . When she walked into the bathroom, the tub was already full, so she undressed and climbed into the warm water.

As she felt the familiar herbal water all over her body, she felt very refreshed. As usual, she took her time in the tub and eventually climbed out when she felt better.

She changed into casual clothes before going to the study, where she went to the store to see what she could buy with the points she had.

It hadn't been long since she had moved to this new world, and the most pressing issue at the time was her studies. She had been to school for about a week before leaving to go to the Stalwart.

Now that she'd returned and gone to the system store, she decided to buy some more pills to improve her memory and make her eyes more appealing.

It would be ideal if her eyes could become more photographic without causing her pain. Arianna decided to take a short nap after her shopping spree and wait for supper.
