Chapter 22

"One final push, guys. Let's do this!" I ordered my squads, "Aura Charge!" My squad charges at the Guardian Golem, reducing its HP.

"Don't let up!" Davida made her squads move backwards, "Fire Vortex!" A powerful fiery tornado appears in the air, moving fiercely towards the Guardian Golem, damaging it slightly as its HP reduces even more.

We kept hitting him with our magic and skills, but it still won't go down. "Amazing. Your tactics to wound me to such a degree while your resolve to never gave up amaze me. Let me show you a proper response!" The Guardian Golem's body expanded, changing its own form as spiked grow on its shoulder while its head altered its appearance into some kind of medieval helmet. Its health bar increased as well, filling it to a full bar.

"Fuck me!" I cursed seeing the Guardian Golem changed its forms. "Heads up, it's the boss's final form!"

"Dammit! There's no way we're going down like this," Davida barked; she opened her mouth, ordering Duncan, "We're not going to last at this rate. There must be another way. Again, can you find it, Duncan?"

"I'll try" Duncan tried to retreat from the battle, but it wouldn't let him. "Sorry young miss, I can't."

"Then do it while we're on the battle, dumbass. You're experienced enough to do that, aren't you?"

Embarrassed, Duncan nodded while his eyes squinted, observing every detail of the now evolved Guardian Golem. "We need to do this smart. Diane, please only use your Magic to buff and heal us. Use all your item if you had to." I barked an order to Diane. "Only had a couple of items left here. Just one each for HP and MP," Diane replied. "Yeah, use it on yourself."

Diane nodded in understanding, "Okay", she held up her staff, "Defense Aura!" – (Defense Increased)

"Right, my turn!" I selected my skill, "Aura Charge!"

*BANG*

"It's no use" The Guardian Golem easily brushed off my attack as his HP was not reduced. "What!?" stunned, I blankly looked at the Guardian Golem. "Shit, my attacks did not work." Davida shouted, "Don't falter. Duncan's trying hard to find its weaknesses. We have to hold on!" Diane and I nodded, "Right".

If Duncan wants to find this guy's weaknesses, we need to explore every possible attack response. I turned towards Davida, "Davida, we need to expose the Guardian Golem to any kind of attack we can muster. Use all of your spells. Don't worry about MP; I got 3 MP bottles left." She nodded. Immediately after, she ordered her squad to cast a lighting arrow towards the Guardian Golem.

"I'll defend" Duncan's squad raised their shield. The Guardian Golem raises its hand, "Turn to dust!" it slammed down its hand to the ground, causing an earthquake that nearly killed us all. "Diane, use Mass Heal!"

"Okay, Mass Heal!" her squad chanted as our HP goes back up. We go back and forth between healing and attacking the Guardian Golem. "You haven't found it yet, Duncan?" I questioned him, as we're not going to last long if this keeps up. The Guardian Golem hits harder and more durable as our attack only chink its skin.

"Is this it?" Diane has nearly given up hope, but I held her hands up, "No, not yet. Our HP has not been depleted yet." I give her the same speech Davida gave me earlier. "We can still win this!" Davida chimed in. Diane nodded as the fire in her eyes continues burning.

Think Eru, think. This is like a JRPG, right? There must be something I missed. I cannot rely on Duncan because he doesn't know things like I do. Think….

Right, isn't there that? Final bosses always go bonkers when their HP went low. In some games, an item will make fighting the awakened final boss easier; like in Dragon Quest, if you had the sword of light, you could use it to weaken Calasmos. If I'm not mistaken, I picked up some gem from the defeated goblin earlier. Maybe, this using this item could works? How do I use it, though? Chug it at the Guardian Golem? Nah, it wouldn't be that easy, would it?

While I was thinking, the Guardian Golem held its arm up, "Prepare yourself!" – The Guardian Golem charges its attack. In doing so, his core was opened. "That's it, young miss; its core is now exposed!" Duncan alerted. "Alright, everybody attack!" Davida barked. "No, wait!" I stopped Davida from attacking, "Wait, I'm going to try something. If this works, we can win this."

Davida had a complex looks on her face. On the one hand, the Guardian Golem core was a juicy target to attack; on the other hand, she looked at the man in front of her, the man full of mystery who knows much about the test mechanics. She bit her lips, "Fine, do it!"

I picked the gem from my inventory and just throw it at the exposed golem core. The gem then generates electricity when it comes into contact with the golem core. The golem core dimmed out as the light on the Guardian Golem's eye disappeared. We then see its HP fell down to zero, and immediately after, its body disintegrated.

"Battle Finished", the familiar, mechanical voice announced the end of the battle as we took the victory. All four of us had an astonished look on our faces. Wait, that's it?
