Number 7: Part 1

Me and Greylar walked towards an entrance of a building.

The lights were dimmed when we first walked into the place but as soon as we got to the room with the pool inside, it was dark and the light coming from the pool created this nostalgic atmosphere to me.

"The changing rooms are that way" he said pointing in a direction we haven't went towards.

"Okay" I say leaving his side to go change. But he stood right there in place, staring at the water.

I walked into the changing room and stripped out of my clothes in the middle of the floor since I was alone.

I was so glad that I brought my flip flops so I wouldn't have to touch the floor with my bare feet.

"This place is decent. I wonder how he found this indoor pool?" I say aloud, to myself.

I looked at my hair in the mirror. I didn't mind getting it wet since I wanted to wash it anyway for the hairstyle I wanted to do.

Once I was done gathering my things from where I had changed I went back towards the pool area.

I didn't see Greylar as I looked around.

He must have went to change after he saw me leave.

I sat my belongings on a chair that sat next to a round table. I slid out of my flip flops and dived into the 6ft.

[ It's cold.

But I want to stay floating and drifting forever.

There aren't any alarming noises, only the sound of the water.

I feel dormant.

This feels nice. ]

I stayed like this until I felt like I couldn't breathe anymore.

I opened my eyes to look around and ended up seeing a distorted figure watching me from above the water.

I figured it was Greylar so I paid it no mind.

He jumped into the water and I brought myself to the surface.

Once my head was above water I opened my mouth to gasp quietly for air.

The weight of my hair changed because of how much water it absorbed.

He came above the water but I could only see his eyes.

"How did you find this place. Well I should be asking how are we able to get in legally?"

His entire head came above water after I asked my question.

"I know a friend who owns this building. I rented it for a few hours. I don't do illegal things."

He was looking at me and I didn't know if I wanted to stare at his black hair or his eyes so I looked in a different direction.

"Hmm" was all I said.

[ Oh yeah I wanted to know more about him, can't believe I forgot so quickly. ]

"Do you work Greylar?" I asked.

He closed off some of the distance between us.

"Yes I do actually. I'm a mechanic."

I kept my feet and hands moving at a steady pace so I won't sink.

"What type of vehicles do you fix?" I say.

"Mostly motorcycles and older model cars. I leave the newer models to my friend since he owns the shop."

"Sounds cool." I say.

"Not really." He replied.

"I'll be the judge of that." I say raising my eyebrow.

He grinned.

"You have any siblings?" I asked.

I want to start floating but I need to see his reaction to all of my questions. So I stayed moving my feet back and forth.

"Uh yes one." [ sounded like he hesitated a little. ]

"Parents?" I say scratching my chest.

"No. You?" He made eye contact with me.

"No. Foster kid?" I asked.

"Something like that."

After his response I remembered I wanted to ask him something.

"Greylar" I say, as his eyes stayed in contact with mine. I looked passed him towards the exit sign above the door.

"Hmm?" He said, watching me lean my back up against the pool wall.

"There's a festival coming up in the town's square-.." I started saying.

Once I started talking I see him coming towards me.

"Are you going?" I asked as he stood in front of me but stared off towards the exit sign.

"I'll go if you go" I could feel my face starting to move, preferably into a smile.

I wiped the water off my face.

He turned his head to look at me.

I think he heard me screaming internally.

I scratched at my chest.

"Got any hobbies?" I say as my starting smile begins to fade.

"Swimming and uh I also fix computers."

"That explains the bags up under your eyes" he chuckled.

"I'm not the best sleeper" he said looking around.

Time flew by as we continued to talk about random things; each random conversation connecting to another.

The water began to feel warm, making me not want to get out at all cost.

After a while I started to float; staring at the tall complicated-looking ceilings, smelling the smell of chlorine, and feeling the cold air every time my skin was exposed.

Time eventually snuck up on us and it was getting late.

I swam around underwater for a good 10 seconds while he proceeded to get out of the pool. I let out a breath of air once I was above the water. He stood at the edge of the pool shaking water out his hair. I spotted something on his stomach and as soon as he stopped shaking I realized it was a tattoo.

I didn't want to stare so I focused on getting out the pool. Once I was out I walked towards my towel sitting inside my bag and picked it up so I could dry my face. I threw the towel over my shoulder, picked up my belongings, and walked towards the changing rooms so I could change into my clothes.

I made a left and he made a right.

Once I finished changing I walked towards the exit and he came walking out of the boys changing rooms to follow behind me. We both walked outside, getting ready to head to the car and he tells me to wait.

"Forgot my phone." He runs back towards the entrance and goes inside to get his phone.

I stood there waiting.

I looked around; feeling the cool breeze brush over the chill bumps I now have. The sudden shivers I'm getting is enough to make me want to brush over the texture of my skin.

I heard a loud *clank* sound.

Like the sound of metal hitting the ground.

I ignored it but still looked in the direction I heard it come from. A minute later I heard a different sound. I turned completely around, staring at the back of the building. I looked around again and slowly walked towards the back of the building. I stopped at a huge rock planted into the ground because I wasn't going to continue.

A cat walked out of the shadows and stared at me. I stared back at it and it started to lick something. I blinked a couple of times to try to see through the darkness and realized the cat was licking a foot. A dirty foot.

Then I realized it was a person.

[ This is none of my business why did I come back here. ]

I took out my phone and shined my flashlight on the ground. I slowly shed some light on the cat still licking the foot and then moved towards the head. It was a man with a grey and black beard, laying in a small puddle of blood.

I took some steps back, half running, almost tripping up over my feet. I bagged up and managed to bump into Greylar. I turned around and looked at him.

I put my phone down.

He stared at me than looked in the direction I came.

He started walking towards the car. "Let's go" he said.

I keep looking in the direction of the body. I could still see the guy's foot peaking out from around the corner.

I watched Greylar's back as he walked towards the car. I turned my flash off and threw my phone in my bag. I could feel the low shake in my hands rising. I could see him sitting in the car through the windshield. Watching me. Waiting on me.

[ He knows I know ]

[ He knows I know ]

[ He knows I know ]

If I don't get in the car and start running instead he might run me over. If I do get in the car there is a 50% chance I may survive.

I walked towards the car at a normal pace. I continued to watch the windshield; I can barely see inside the car because it is so dark but I still get a sense that he's looking at me and I don't want him to do anything that may ruin my chance of survival.

I got in the car hesitantly.

As soon as I closed the door he turned on the car and drove off.

[ No...

No we have to..go back

There is no way.

Please don't be dead. ]

I looked back seeing the building get smaller as we distance ourselves by car.

I turned back around to look in front of me.

[ Why does it feel like he's speeding. ]

[ What if Greylar is actually a serial killer..? ]

[ Why me, why me, why me.]
