Queen Mother, Lilian looked up at him with wet eyes and he gave her an apologetic smile, gesturing at Ron’s stomach. Her eyes widened with realisation and she offered him a trembling smile, nodding in understanding. Only then did he relax and step away.
“Mother,” Prince Ron choked out as she hugged him gently, carefully. The familiar scent of jasmine enveloped him, warm and soft, and for a moment, it felt like he was home again. His nose soured, eyes stinging with tears. It was then he realised that he missed home. He missed his mum.
“My baby,” she whispered into his ear, holding him like he was five again. “I’ve missed you so much.”
Prince Ron couldn't believe it. His mother was here, hugging him. He had thought that seeing him pregnant would make her look at him in disgust but here she was, hugging him, as if him being pregnant didn't matter at all.
