Mitsuna woke up. Instantly she felt the pain in her bones that were constantly broken and regenerated over and over.
She could not move, as every time she did an immense amount of pain assaulted her.
Examining her body, she found that she was still missing an arm.
Sighing, she felt pain in her lungs so she just kept quiet and waited for the pain to pass.
As she waited, a few hours passed. Finally able to move a little without feeling pain, Mitsuna sat up and went to use the bathroom.
Finishing her business, she wondered how she had handled going quite a few days without powdering her nose.
Wiping herself off, she couldn't find a place to wash her hands so all she could do was sigh and deal with it.
'When is brother coming?'
...
At this time, far above the location of the research facility, a small lady was flying around.
Dodging a rather large bird, she condensed the surrounding mana into a bullet and shot it through the bird's head.
She took a glance at her status.
"Hmm~ almost there."
Continuing her flight, she suddenly stopped and looked down.
"What?"
Flying lower, she used mana to camouflage herself as she shifted through the floor.
Looking straight at a certain location, she muttered.
"Leveling will have to wait. I guess."
...
As Mitsuna kept resting for a while, she heard the horrible sound of a switch getting flicked and the even worse sound of that woman speaking.
"Morning yet again, my child."
"Your help really was needed last time. The samples you provided are currently going through heavy research, but you don't have to worry about that. If we run out of samples you can just provide a little more, right?"
Mitsuna kept silent. Sweat ran down her back as she had come to fear the woman. Those emotions however did not show on her face.
"Why so quiet? Your voice yesterday was so melodious though? Oh, kids will be kids. Let's get on to the next experiment shall we?"
Mitsuna was yet again cuffed and brought along for a walk.
Passing the blood room, it was eerily quiet.
Walking past the bone room, it was filled with screams.
Trying to ignore the shouts for help, Mitsuna entered the third room.
It had yet another table with the same design as the last few. Just seeing it gave Mitsuna the shivers.
What surrounded the table however was much, much worse.
Skins of both creatures and people were hung on the walls.
"Since your skin is rather special thanks to the influence of your parents it is a rather unique sight that we wish to observe. And sample if we could."
Mitsuna was frightened and horrified so she asked.
"C-can I sleep through it?"
"My. Of course, you can silly. We aren't monsters."
Setting her down on the table, the woman spoke again.
"The spell can't last forever so I will do my best to finish it as fast as I could. It's a promise."
"..."
"Beginning test 005. Good night."
Seeing a similar spell, Mitsuna soon entered that void yet again.
Sitting down, she touched her arm that was still there when she was in this place.
Mitsuna looked around.
On her left, the elf and fallen angel. Same old routine.
On her right the rest of the creatures stood there, seemingly being told off by the dragon and phoenix.
The language was still incomprehensible ad Mitsuna had no idea what they were speaking about. Although she guessed that it was about the chaos and fighting that happened when her arm was cut off and all that.
Observing the surroundings, Mitsuna could see the faintest of outlines on the ground where she was sitting. It seemed like grass although it too, like the ground and sky were pitch-black.
Looking at the ground closer, she could see that only the spot where she was sitting at had grass, the surroundings had none.
Lying down, she looked at the sky.
After a while, she closed her eyes and rested.
'I wish this was outside... Brother sure is taking his time too. I wonder if his experiments are going as bad as mine.'
Mitsuna then soon fell deep asleep.
...
Back on the outside world.
The woman's hand was shaking.
"Oh I want to see her scream and yell so bad I can't help it~!!"
"No. No, I promised... Hnnghh!!!"
Nick did her work as she promised, and took multiple samples of skin.
During the test, she thought of an idea.
"Huh."
And so she went through with it. She promised to not wake her up and do her job fast during the procedure.
But she could not wait to see the reaction of 'her child' when she awoke.
Her breathing became exited and erratic.
...
Mitsuna woke up back in her room. This time, her body did not feel very painful, but it did feel different.
Looking at the glass wall, she made her way to it and took a look at her face as closely as she could.
After taking a look, she took steps back before ultimately stumbling and falling. She held her mouth closed with her hands that had the same problem as her face.
"N-no... N-no!"
'This can't be real! S-she said taking samples and nothing else...!'
Her skin had become patchwork over her body. Patches of her skin were replaced and stitched on by skin of other races.
'I- w-what will brother think? H-how will I get married now?! T-the body gifted to me by my parents... i-i-its r-ruined!'
Mitsuna fell, covering her face as she cried.
At this point, Mitsuna's future truly looked bleak.
...
Meanwhile, hovering around the facility, the small lady found the room she was looking for.
'It really is her. It's her!'
[Heya readers. Don't kick the shit out of me please and thanks. It isn't the end of the arc yet so no questions.]
