Chapter 12

Walking out of the darkroom, Fares remembered the drawings on the wall, so he asked "I wonder what do these drawings mean?"

Azkar gave a longing look at the drawings and said "These aren't as simple as drawings, in it is our language and if you ever start cultivation, you'd find that in it is our past, present, and possibly our future."

This made Fares more curious and wanted to ask more by what does he mean "possibly", but thought against it as Azkar looked so deep in thought that it would be rude to ask anything else.

As they reached the main entrance, Azkar asked them to wait for him for a moment.

Rumble~

There was a rumbling sound from the direction where Azkar left off to, which made both Fares and Zena wonder what was going on.

After a few seconds though, Azkar reappeared with a piece of meat larger than him strapped to his back and a wide grin across his face.

"HaHaHa, count yourself lucky, kid. I have been storing this for close to a decade now." Azkar laughed loudly as he continued moving forward.

However, Fares noticed something strange, Zena sniffed at Azkar's back a few times and her expression turned fiery for a moment before going back to normal and followed after Azkar leaving Fares dumbfounded.

'I didn't hear wrong, did I? He said it was a few decades old types of meat? It's rotten then right?' Fares panicked for a while, but he followed them anyway.

If his body right now was pure energy, it means he won't get sick right? At least that's what he hoped for as he continued moving on.

After a while, they arrived at a large open space that was a little brighter than normal and had a big stack of wood to the side.

Azkar dropped the meat on his back to the ground near the center and went to grab some wood.

He stacked a few kinds of wood together into a wide rectangular bonfire in the middle of the open space and was about to light them with a fire he made on the palms of his hands when Fares grabbed his arm.

"Do you have no sense of fire spread? You have to put preventive measures in case the fire spread." Fares shook his head as he grabbed a few rocks lying on the ground.

Zena knew what Fares was doing this time since she saw him before, at the time he cooked that meat hastily.

So she helped him collect some more rocks and put them around the bonfire.

"Chief, let him cook the meat, your cooking isn't as good," Zena said as she pushed Fares towards the bonfire.

Fares understood what this glutton wanted, when it came to the food she was so expressive.

He looked at Azkar and found that he had a few tears in his eyes, which made him dumbfounded.

'What the hell kind of situation is this?'

He sighed and said, "Azkar can you help me and light the bonfire please?"

Azkar's face lighted up a little as he proceeded to make a fire in the palms of his hands and throwing it into the bonfire.

The wood caught fire almost immediately and lit up the place like a raging dragon set free, but the fire didn't die down even the slightest.

"Easy on the fire Azkar, it's going to burn the meat from the outside before actually being cooked on the inside." Fares warned Azkar to lower the fire's intensity a little.

After doing as he said Azkar put the large slab of meat into a huge wooden stick and balanced each end of the stick on 2 Y-shaped ones and left Fares to do the cooking.

Azkar then went to sit down beside Zena and asked her softly "Are you okay?"

Zena was about to answer but was interrupted by loud laughter coming from the distance.

"HaHaHa, you sly old fox, I knew it wouldn't be long before you got your share of the meat out and eat it." In came an old man with wrinkles covering his face and a long white beard.

Besides, he was a handsome man around the same age as Fares with a large muscular build, his muscles looked as if rocks had been layered one upon the other. He had a scar running across his face diagonally from one end to the other giving him the dangerous vibe.

Fares couldn't even understand them but one look at them was enough to tell him that he should stay away from those two.

Azkar's brow twitched as he forced a smile on his face and replied "I eat my share whenever I feel like it, you got yours and ate it already. Don't go moving around trying to take a share in other people's part."

"Oh not at all, I don't even know what you are talking about I just came here to train with my grandson. And happened to see what you were doing, so I thought you two wouldn't be able to eat all of that alone, so I came to help. Ha Ha Ha." the old man said laughing cunningly.

Fares got the chills running down his spine, but didn't spare a second glance at him.

"Who told you it's us two alone?" Azkar said.

"Oh? Then please do enlighten me, who else came here with you?."

"Him," Azkar said pointing at Fares who felt something was wrong, so he looked over at the people conversing only to find everyone staring at him.

"Hahahaha" Laughed the old man and the young man beside him.

"That scrawny guy over there? And you think he even has the power to bite at meat as tough as this?" said the old guy wiping some tears from his eyes.

"Whether he eats it or not, I can always store the rest again. Tell me Daragma, are you thinking of taking it from me?" Azkar said looking menacingly in the old man's direction with his white eyes he looked even more creepy.

"No, not at all. But let us make a bet. If both, your guy and Zena could finish the meat by tomorrow I'll even give you 2 cats of Begarra's meat." He said looking icily at them.

"What's the catch old man?" Azkar said vigilantly at Daragma.

"Of course, if I win, I want to marry that girl to my grandson here," Daragma answered cockily, thinking that his offer won't be refused.

In this world, a Kat is a Kilogram in Fares' world, and what they call a Begarra is what Fares know as Tyrannosaurus Rex.

Azkar had thought about it for a while, getting Begarra's meat and eating the whole Mossè, Fares would directly breakthrough to a higher state.

But he was still hesitant, it was not his life to gamble.

He looked at Zena and noticed a cold glint in her eyes, she was extremely serious and hates those two's guts. This was when Zena's fighting spirit rose to the max.

So he sighed and said, "I accept, but first take out the Begarra's meat just to be sure it was enough for a meal at the very least."

"Oh, it's enough alright." Said the old man as he sent his grandson to get the meat.
